A KTM 790 Adv R and a 350 XC-F. Can cover a lot of ground on those 2.

My current ‘18 KX450 and an ‘01 CR500 (steelie not AF).

My 450 is my favorite bike I’ve ever owned now that I have Ohlins stuff instead of the SFF-TAC (which should’ve been abbreviated POS instead). Does everything well, more power than I need, great handling.

The CR500 would be a dune/play ride bike. I’ve always wanted an open class smoker. I’d probably upgrade the front end to something modern.

Everyone has their hobbies, moto is mine !
Career choice definitely provided me the ability to be able to afford my bad habits. Lol

Probably the 2 in the garage at the moment, My MX and FT bike.
In our lock down would have been good to still have my trials bike, could have ridden it in the back yard.

I'd have my 20 KTM SXF 450 and a 20 Husqvarna TE 300I. That way I could cover every type of riding that I like to do

In Houston, rode with the Austin group.

The 2 advanced riders in our group were absolutely awesome and extremely helpful/patient. The small rocks were a bit of a challenge that we weren't used to riding in Michigan so didn't ride so well.

Just a different group doing things a bit differently that makes us miss the Michigan group. We'll be back out at some point, ~2.5hr+ drive minimum it looks like to most events so not an easy trip out when you have to score either in the morning or afternoon. In Michigan, the "home club" hosted and their riders were not allowed to compete and had to score so it made everything flow at a constant pace. ~3hrs to get thru 40 sections.

Haven't found a group in Houston from searching, i heard some guys ride trials out at Rio Bravo just haven't looked too much into it yet.

I've got the two i'd want - 19 kx450 , and a yz250 with some TMR work and showa 49mm forks / kit shock. I only ride moto though so its just a "loamy or hardpack" decision to which will get the nod.

I already have one of them.... the 2nd, I have not decided on yet. I keep waffling between a dual purpose or an adventure bike. Don't like the weight of adventure bikes....but like that they are good for eating up the miles.

The one I do have (you can have it when you pry it from my cold dead hands).

KTM 150XCW TPI and 250SX, or YZ125X and YZ250. The small bores for the tight trails, and the 1/4 liters for the track. But for now its just my 636 for street and track.

It's just as fun as trail riding IMO and gives you some technical you won't get from just trail riding. An absolute blast IMO, in Michigan we rode trials more than the dirt bike because it was that good.

We relocated to Texas late last fall are fortunate that our new house has a large enough yard to build a few obstacles & sections. Downside, the trials scene in Texas doesn't seem quiet as good as Michigan from the 1 event we did (not saying it was bad, but the group in Michigan did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and apart of the group from day 1, same with the family enduro group there so the bar was set extremely high)
Rhode Island has a great trials scene. Actually host a world championship round every few years. Its the only legal dirt biking area in the state, and of course you must have a trials bike, no other bikes allowed. Trail riding, sand pit riding, etc all forbidden unfortunately in this little state (unless you have or know someone with land for riding). We did have a national MX here once at a ski area that then shut down. Anyway friends who have trials bikes love them and the balance and skills they can teach are great.

A 1980 RM 400 . I'm only really interested in riding evo as far as mx these days , and I'd like to have an XR 250, 96 or newer , for the trail .

If we're talking offroad only:

YZ125 - ice racing, moto, light trail riding
CRF450L - for dual sport/desert/hilly trails/flat track

Right now I'm more street oriented though so I'd axe the 125 and replace with a new Road King Special. The 450L would pull multiple duties as a trail/adv, flat track and ice bike. I am moving in that direction anyway with the WR250X I've got.

I've been thinking about this question a lot lately. I have a 2017 KX450 with the race tech conversion, and a 2008 KTM 450 EXCR. Pretty good pair, but I'd like a combo that gave me more options on single track and longer range dual sport riding.

If I were doing 2 bikes on a tighter budget, I'd have an 08 crf450 and a well-set up kdx200. I rode a yz144 in the woods for awhile, and it was great for everything, but I bet the kdx200 could be a weapon if set up correctly.

An alternate combination for me:
newer yz250fx or ktm350xcf and a husky 701/ktm 690. I'd like to try the "cross country" bikes on a moto track. Seems like those bikes are a great compromise for a lot of people. I ride a 450 for moto so I don't have to be as concerned with it grenading (as compared to a 250f) but in this hypothetical, I'd ride a smaller bike.
