Same view as the other threads that touched on this. No full season, no title. It's an empty victory. Don't care who the top points rider is. I sure as hell wouldn't want it like that.

A class move for anyone in this position would be to say. "Lets scratch this one and take it next year".

I got flamed for saying it yesterday. ...and I don't give a crap what the something for nothing crowd thinks, I'll say it again.

We're it me, I'd decline the title...decline the bonus. I would be open to a partial bonus based on results to date. In my eyes....that is the right thing to do. I don't care who it is....Tomac/Webb/Roczen/Barcia etc.

In the end... my guess is it really depends on team/sponsor contracts and how they are worded.

That’s a hard one but, he has put himself in a very good position and it’s not his fault the virus happened.

All that is chicken scratch in the Kawasaki/Monster world
Is $3M the new championship bonus these days or just specifically what Eli negotiated with Kawi? I always heard it was $1M for 450 championships.
Tomac deal!

It will suck if this is it. That said Eli was the fastest, made the most passes, came from way behind to pass Roczen and was the most entertaining rider to watch. Roczen might be a little bummed. If he had more in the tank at Daytona, he'd definitely be kicking himself. I think Roczen seems like a pretty down to earth dude. I would guess he might be the first to congratulate and admit Tomac had him covered.

Didn't Eli just win 3 of the last 4 races? He's probably upset the lost races may cost him a couple wins towards catching James for #2 all time. If they give him the title then good for him, he isn't gonna stress about what people think about something he can't control.

Not Eli's fault so he should be happy if it ends now. He is leading, won the most races and is clearly the fastest rider.

End of story. On to MX!

We ran more than half the races no * in my opinion. Just like people are idiots for * about other titles. We got more then 3-4 rounds so it's not like everyone just got started. Hell outdoors are only 12 rounds.

There is only 1 title you can put a * on if you want and that's Langston 450mx title and we all know why.

Y'all do realize that if Eli was given the title now, in theory, he'd LOSE money

Let's assume the series went on and he won the title after taking points lead at Daytona

If cancelled now, and title handed over, he would receive none of his per race contingency sponsorship money....No Monster money, Kawi money, AStars money, Helmet money, goggles money and contingency from any others, like Dunlop

If called today, and handed the title, he more than like would lose a shit ton of per race cash on the table

He'd take that championship bonus check with a smile big AF, but he'd know he lost money

Be even worse if he didn't get that big check

This should be looked at as a positive from Tomac’s view.

It didn’t take him until the end of the season to get the red plate and when he did take it, it was another demoralizing race for everyone else on the track.

If it ends now, Eli will be 100% confident that he was going to win that title had the season continued. That just makes him even more confident for the next season.

Let this be a lesson for race leaders....Fight hard for each win. This whole "Let him go, and try for the win next week" mentality will come back and bite you in the ass. Pinch

You are right and if the season was shorter I’m sure we’d see more of that mentality.
The trouble is what’s happening this year is a freak occurrence. The ‘consistently top five’ method has proven to work numerous times over the long seasons we are now used to.

“You can’t win it at A1, but you can certainly lose it” was approximately ten weeks from being a false statement this year!🤣😂

All your comments make no sense. You’re stating as though in the 1st 10 rounds everyone left a little in the tank and didn’t put it all out there. At Daytona Roczen had a clear track and a 9 second lead and got caught and passed by the guy he shared the red plate with. Eli TOOk the win. End of story. You’re whole “theory” of they all would have raced different is a complete joke.

This isn't rocket science dude. People race differently at the last few rounds of the championship than they do in the middle of it. This shouldn't be a tough concept to grasp.

You seriously don’t think Roczen, or anyone for that matter, would’ve raced Daytona any differently had he known it was the last round of the series?

Uh, no. Roczen gave everything he had in the tank. I know this because he said so on the podium AND the Press Conference. He has a 9 SECOND lead and clear track. He couldn’t have asked for a better scenario other than Tomac not being in the main.
