Well I was out riding… but not on the bike at the time of a Left quadriceps muscle rupture and right Achilles tendon rupture. I had surgery on both legs at the same time. I was in a wheelchair for 4.5 weeks and on crutches for 2 weeks. I was run over by a state park ranger. How’s that for a bad day out riding?

Broke both my heels in '98. They still hurt...

P.S. Ridgway's amputated leg started with breaking both his heels at Glenn Helen.

2 yrs ago. Tin/fib pilot fracture. 4 plates 22 screws. Broken radius 1 plate 6 screws. 2 metacarpals in hand 3 screws in each

All left side. Acute rehab for 14 days to learn how to function with a walker and a crutch. Mental battle was the toughest part of it all. All healed up and ankle is about 90%. Thankful to be able to live a normal life and wife said no more 450’s. After 30 + years of riding I am now back on a 125 and having a ball. We have a sickness...

Broke my tib fib down by ankle joint area on Sep 22nd 2019.
I have had Three operations -first two to install external fixaters, followed by insertion of Two plates and 12 screws. Its been three months so far with no weight baring.Hopefully I get the green light to weight bare Jan 9th-it’s my right leg so I can’t drive.Worst thing I’ve ever endured.

I broke my femur, vertically (knee up). That was the one bone break that convinced me to "grow up" and realize I needed to start thinking about a career.

The screws in my knee from that one came back to haunt me 18 years later, the screw heads in the joints of my knee starting giving me massive issues. To make matters worse, the doctor stripped the head of one of the screws when trying to remove them, and had to use an EZ-Out to get them out. Imagine the feeling of your bone being slammed with a hammer to get an EZ Out enough of a notch to catch on to remove the damn thing, I woke up from that "quick and fast" surgery with a monstrous and painful WTF!

Tibial plateau in 2005 and lower tib/fib in 2014. A total of 33 screws and 4 plates.

When I was 12 I face planted and broke two vertebrae in my back, broke my left wrist, had a horrible concussion too and I haven't had any vision on my left side since the brain injury. Some say I was a little ass hole before the crash and it mellowed out my personality though. So I got that going for me.

I’ve been very blessed with my injuries compared to you guys.

A few minor concussions
Broke each wrist(different times)
Torn meniscus(required surgery after dealing with it for 5-6 years)
Damaged rotator cuff
Badly sprained ankle
Broken ribs

The heel is like an egg shell. Once it cracks....all the fluid and cushioning between the bones displaces. The recovery didn’t include a ton of rehab. It kind of is what it is. It hurts to walk so i have to manage the pain by being efficient woth my steps. It’s a tough one. Maybe others will have better endings to their heel injuries to share?

Have you tried the Lyrica? It worked well for my nerve pain

What sucks how I did my ankle was the easiest jump at the track (milestone). Just cased it on the first double on the rhythm section. You can roll or double it. I slipped after it rained in the morning. This was milestones final gift to me after 10 years of riding there.

Nothing like some of these, but 3 ACL's and 2 MCL's. But now I'm in line for complete knee replacements for both in the next 24 months.

KO'd myself with broken ribs, two punctured lungs, exploded a nut, in the ICU for 10 days,

A year later added a broken femur with some knee damage

Did numerous collarbones, a hand, a foot, Tibial spine fracture, ACL, seperated shoulder, a few more knockouts

Slowed down since those days...

No shame in slowing down. I respect everyone that gets back on the bike after an injury, regardless of how severe it is.

I also respect when someone hangs up the boots for good. I like to bust balls, but it takes a big man, or woman, to give up the sport they love.

Since my ankles don't really bother me to this day I guess I can put my shoulder injury in this thread. I wadded pretty bad at Milestone and dislocated my shoulder, fractured my humerus, and suffered nerve damage. I had my arm in a sling for a while and when I got it taken off my muscles weren't firing/triggering and I wasn't able to lift my arm from my side. Once I went to PT they put the shock pads on my shoulder to stimulate the muscles and even then it took me a while to be able to lift my arm... it's weird, it's like I forgot how to use my shoulder muscles. Put your hand on your shoulder and prevent yourself from lifting it sideways like you're trying to "flap wings".. I couldn't do that for weeks (maybe a month?).. I basically had a dead arm. Scary stuff. To this day my shoulder still has numb areas that I can't feel if I pinch my skin (that's not normal, right?)

Axillary nerve injury...not uncommon with your injury.

I think I know exactly what section you’re talking about. I always took the inside and just rolled before hitting those doubles. I’m Gonna miss those doubles. Milestone had some pretty gnarly jumps the last two years honestly. Hope it heals well

Thanks mate -throttle stuck on full on a fast up hill and had to bail off over a Small Jump that had no run off -ploughed foot first into the ground at speed.Nightmare.
