I can live with rickys mistakes but Ralph sucks

How many time during the race does Ralph have to say blue yamaha green kawasaki yellow suzuki........

The guy is irritating. I usually start the supercross season listening to the broadcast then about 20 minutes in I mute the rest of the season so I dont have to listen to know nothing Ralph.
The break I get is when I go to one of the two Anaheim race in person.

I wouldn’t be mad if it was weege and langston/emig doing both series, Ralph repeats every single word he says and overstates every scenario.

So we should learn to accept incompetence right? That seems to be going around these days. I'm sorry I expect more. RC will never be a good announcer.

No matter who you get they are going to say "Blue Yamaha". That is a strict network production choice.

They're both garbage. Ralph should be pitching sales on home shopping network.

The announcing was quite poor last night. I don't usually complain, but RC needs to go, he is literally the worst announcer I can remember that had a full time gig with any network for any racing series. I seriously don't understand how the person in charge of the production can't understand that.

Daniel Blair has serious talent. If they don’t get him in the booth soon he’ll move on to being a trackside reporter for NASCAR or a field correspondent for College Football.

If this off season race was a preview of what to expect from them for their 2nd year together... YIKES.

Anyone on this board could list at least 10 retired riders who would be better at color commentary.

Well, Ricky Bobby didn't get better in the off-season. He's still terrible. What's sad is they won't fire him because he's the GOAT.

Blair does a great job, he needs to be used more often. Actually I would like to see Jason Thomas have a go in the booth. He is very good when he does MXGP. Very articulate unlike most motorsports announcers.

I honestly don't notice the announcers much. Not sure why but I just sorta tune them out for the most part.

Wow, I feel like I am in the movie Ground Hog day. Every race we get the same bitching, the same defending, etc. Perhaps the admins can just make a sticky thread that appears before each race and we can forego the endless new threads about the same thing.

I get it and agree that the announcers could improve in some of the things they say. I finally just got to the point of taking the stupid things said as humor. On the other hand RC at times has some pearls of wisdom and insight from his experience that are quite good. I sometimes think that part of the issue is that RC is being instructed to appeal to an audience that knows nothing which leads to some of the ridiculous comments. If he were allowed to share his knowledge without having to dumb it down, the critics here would probably be surprised.

Ralph on the other hand seems to have the duty to fill silence. Probably a tough thing to do when there really isn’t anything that needs to be said at the moment. They have a tough job. Probably tougher than announcing in other sports as it seems they are instructed to appeal to a know nothing audience. The announcers for the professional sports don’t have to do this. Imagine how dumb it would get if the NFL announcers had to explain what a touchdown is every time there was a score.

Anyway, carry on, or just visit the other 100s of threads covering these issues.

You’re bitching about bitching with a 4 paragraph bibliography. Chill.

Ralph needs to go. He makes more mistakes than a weatherman.

Will Christian needs to go. Has no clue.

Huh? How is that? Please describe exactly how you made that kind of connection?

I kind of miss Emig. Lots of people gave him shit when he was still in the booth, but I think we took a step backwards with RC. Greener pastures and all that.

What annoyed me the most with the whole broadcast is how both of them are deliberately talking in a childish manner, like they are talking to an audience that are 8 years old on average. I have never, ever experienced a TV sport where the TV crew dumb down the sport they are working with like the American Supercross broadcasts. It truly is baffling that they still continue with this approach.

This might sound a bit cringeworthy but they are insulting our intelligence.

I guess I'm left wondering if RC and Ralph watch the broadcasts the next day or next week? Because honestly if they do, and they continue to perform as they do now, then they are clearly there to have a couple of nice meals and collect a pay check every weekend. The frustration for me stems from the fact that they COULD both be so much better, but they have little incentive to step it up.

They should watch UFC. The commentary (with the exception of Rogan) and post-fight interviews are fucking unreal!
The in-depth stories/history of the *athletes really amps things up too.

Will Christiansen should also take notes from Megan Olivi.

Both Ralph and RC do a good enough job, I enjoy there input but most of my attention is what is happening in the race I bet the biggest critics do not put the same criticism on there own performance in there regular day jobs. Pffffttttt they will tell you that they do but guaranteed they don't, I wonder what there work mates truly think of them I reckon they think they are whinging pricks! LOL.
