Well i've been part of the bent 19 subframe club for a few months now, with the tire marks all over the muffler to prove it....... THe stock muffler cocked on the rubber flange its on and was extremely crooked, and aside from just the subframe being bent down on the right side and the whole thing pushed over to the clutch lever side of the bike, nothing broke.

I bent the right side subframe rail back up even with the left, and bent the exhaust hanger tab back out, and it survived 1.5 hours of riding over the weekend.....

Anyone played with gearing?? I search the forum but couldn't find anything.. Been running the stk 50 rear, but considering going +/- 1 tooth. Can pull a 3rd gear start w/ the 50t, but lags juuust a bit. Thinking a 51 might fill the gap, but not sure it'd be ok for the rest of the track-

What’s your weight before gear? I put in (2) 52 springs with 310 ...still dialing it in. 198lbs

What do I need to do to change the rear brake back to a smaller rotor? I really do not like how touchy the larger sized rotor is. If I just put on a 2018 brake rotor, wont the fit up of the caliper be wrong?

I thought the caliper bracket would be needed to adjust the radial spacing. Thanks.

We’ve been self-policing the thread! On guy came on talking about two stroke vs four stroke and we kindly asked him to not do that. I can’t believe we haven’t gotten the typical hater on this thread to tell us how great his Suzuki is compared to the shootouts

I did a 120 mile off road ride, single track, slow rock sections, and fast open desert. I have my suspension set up for moto so it was way too stiff but I wasn't super comfortable. First gear was pretty tough for me to crawl up and around slow rock sections. Maybe higher gearing or a flywheel weight would do wonders. High speed desert stuff was great though.

Well, its taken 3 days on and off but i read all the 100 pages....and I feel i know you all by now!, especially 50Dippin, Moto520, Nystrom7 and Lawson34....its been a good read to see how all the different people who have posted up are getting on with the bike, you are all different riders, ages, different weights, sizes and styles of riding too, one of the best threads dedicated to a bike as yet. So well done all of you!.

Its really opened my eyes to the Green machine, never having owned one before I really am liking the idea, from my comback in 2009, first was a 2009 RMZ 450, various in between bikes (Aprilia mxv 450/YZF 450), then from 2011 was KTM 450, a new one in 2013, then a 17, over to a 18 350 and now back to a 2014 250 sx.

I love the two stroke and its so much fun and still can get it round a track ok, but next year i will be racing again and feel I would like to compete on a 450. Coming from KTM is going to be a big change for me... and i am just not sure if its the right thing to do, but i must admit with 100 pages read its swaying me in the Green direction. Seems crazy but i guess when you have been with a brand so long and kind of know what to expect and get on well with it all, its a leap of faith for sure!. I have plenty of time to get a bike organised as Winter is here in the U.K. and its shit enough here let alone this time of year!, also have a Shoulder "Lockdown" op any day now so plenty of reading time to look forward to, apart from Leg days only bruh!.

Anyways, again, good for you guys who have taken the leap and i am happy that you are too!. Thanks for the read, all the best.

I came from a 2017.5 KTM SXF450 Factory Edition and for me (215 lbs, vet B rider) the Kawi is so much better.... The engine is so much more responsive and intuitive. The whole bike is just better. A suspension spring and revalve was a must though.

Has anyone already changed a piston on his Kx? How did it look after how many hours? Any aftermarket options available?
Mine has 80 hours, i want to change the piston now but can't seem to find any piston other than OEM.

By the way, will 2018 KXF 450 clutch plates fit?

There's a few piston options out there. I have a pc piston and I know cp carillo has a few compression ratios now. I'm probably getting carillo rod and piston next time. They weren't out when I did mine.

I have used prox in my kx450's since 2013 with good luck usually change them at 80-85 hours and Always looks good.

what springs is most you guys using. I am 200 pounds no gear. I see lot of post a while ago of 5.2 in one side. I belive a 5.2nm is the same as .053kg spring rate. So one 5.2 +5.0(stock) would be a .052kg rate I am pretty sure. Should I get two 5.2's for my weight? Has anyone tried one rate higher in rear, I have a 5.7 here I could use.. I wont be able to ride bike for about a week so was trying to go ahead and get setup.

My 18 bike I use .052kg front in kyb AOS forks and 5.7 rear. It seems from what I read this bike seems really soft up front

I am 190 no gear. I run a .52 in one side only and it feels pretty good. Haven’t felt the need to add to the other side. I also added a bit of oil to take some of the bigger hits better. 10 cc to each side I think.

I suppose at your weight it’s possible u might want a .52 in both sides, but I’d try in one side first and see what u think. I have done nothing to the rear.

I too am currently about 200 no gear and installed .52 in both forks....seams a little stiff but am trying to see if it works for me...310 on oil ...if not dropping down to 1 spring. Interested in other responses. This photo was first outing stock.

I'm 220 and I run a .54kg in one leg stock 5.0N in the other, effectively makes it a 5.15N rate. One of my buddies recommended it to me, its pretty close maybe a hair on the soft side.

I should preface this with I have had it revalved by FC (soft) and I’m taller (6’2) so I tend to ride more forward; but I’m 188 and I’m running .53kg BOTH legs, 335ml oil, FC oil lock collars. Very smooth, not stiff, no fear of bottoming
