JGR going bye-bye?

Lol...eeeeasy brother!!! I get it, and I'm with you, but it's apples and oranges. My point was, wrestling controls their performers as independent contractors. Similar business model as FELD. Unfortunately, revenue for our particular product is not similar.

It’s an incredibly sad state of affairs when e-sports have no issue capturing millions of dollars in sponsorships while sports that require more than moving fingers struggle to find both sponsors and participants. As a dad of two little boys, I could go on an extremely long tangent on how video games and other certain aspects of technology in general are ruining our society. I’ll save the time and just ask that you do your part to go against the current and get your kids outside to play. It may not save Suzuki now, but it’s the least we can do to try and fix our future generations.

Yep at this point we’re just waiting on the presser to announce It for JGR and Suzuki North America. There won’t be any suzuki racing SX/MX & MXGP. Will also affect HEP...id also be surprised if we see an RMZ IN 2021-22 .....I pray I’m wrong but I don’t think so

I have an 8 and 6 yr old and think there the only kids around that don’t have video games at home.
8 yr old said he was being teased at school the other day because he didn’t know about a certain video game. I said “did you tease them for not having the #1 state plate in your class in bmx two years running?”
Not that any kid would know what he’s talking about, but still.

It’s scary for the sport even with the contacts and resources they have to run the sponsorship for the nascar Teams they can’t get an outside Industry sponsor for the mx team
Yes Scotty , that is the most scary part with JGR or MX in general at how high profile they are in NSACAR and can’t get sponsors in our sport.

It’s a huge statement to the state of the sport when one of the most respected leaders and organizations in USA Motorsports, with full factory equipment from one of the oems, can’t get funding and sponsorship!! And having arguably one if the most visible and marketable riders in the all important sx series. I keep hearing from feld and ama and every other insider about how everything is up. Viewers. Attendance. Sport is going to be where USA road
Racing is soon if there aren’t some changes to get someone besides monster to sponsor race teams!!
There are two big factors at work here. Suzuki is the smallest Japanese OEM with the least amount of money and the a bike that is not as good as its competitors. They picked JGR and I would think they were very dissatisfied with JGR’s results for the money they spent.

The other issue is JGR doesn’t win. They don’t have an elite rider and don’t run anywhere near the front in the 450 class. Why, as a title sponsor, would you want to invest 2-5 million on a team that has a 0% chance of winning a single 450 main in 2020?

We can all lament the fact that they may not be in SX/MX any longer. But the reality is this is a sport of survival of the fittest and right now they are just not a good team at the price point they are at. Maybe they never have been, they have had some talent but never any real results. Maybe it’s the bikes, maybe the team just isn’t that good. I don’t know.

Suzuki needs to be in the series. They have a long storied history in Motocross and it would be a real big blow to the sport if they went away. But the sport will survive with or without them or JGR. It just won’t be as good. Superbike survives without Suzuki and MotoGP survives without Kawasaki.

JGR Husky has a nice ring to it. Or Maybe JGR GasGas
JGR " anything " is great news to be honest. We need teams like them , TLD , MCR , Star , ECT to help keep the sport strong. If Suzuki doesn't want to be part of the sport any more, then that's on them. Sad to see them go , but it's ultimately their own decision.

Sadly, this.

Both RMZ will get BNG every year until they stop selling them.

I remember in 2002,3 I walked into San Diego Fun Bike Center and they still has a 2001 cr500 for sale. It handnt changed in years.

Don’t be a plonker!
Not Luongo or anyone in the industry can control what parents do with their kids!
Local riding areas closed up (not Luongos fault) parents can no longer buy a cheap dirt bike and get their kid riding easily and cheaply.
So a video game or football is where they put their interest.

Nothing to do with the upper management of the sport.

Can’t find cheap dirt bikes? Facebook and Craigslist are littered with old competitive two strokes....cheap. People are just not that into motorcycles anymore.

Same stuff every year. That's the nature of motorsports. Even the F1 teams are kept afloat by guys buying a ride for their kid or just wanting a VIP pass at the race

Makes sense. He also posted in an Instagram story that he was picking up a Webb camshaft and a CP piston. Probably gonna privateer it for Paris/AUS/NZ/A1 and then call it a career.

I see $2000 kx85s on facebook marketplace daily. Hell i see a few kx250 2 strokes i may sell my 450 and buy.

Cheap to modern people are $400 apparently.

My coworkers complain about how expensive softball is for their daughters.

Not for the spodes who buy them. They just have to run. Some people don’t need both brakes working or the oil to stay in the forks and as long as air stays in the tire it’s good.
Some people just ride roaches bikes.

Sad to see Suzuki go out of the sport, fun fact, the Suzuki RMZ 450 is the 3rd most successful bike in terms of AMA championships, having won 6 titles since the introduction of 4 strokes in 2006, only behind the KTM SXF 450 with 7 titles and the Kawasaki KX 450F with 11.

I don't know why JGR, with all the resources they have had never managed to win a title, they signed Stewart in 2012 and Barcia in 2015, and all the money the spent in R&D, sad to see them go out too.

Maybe this is a wake up call for Feld, MX Sports, NBC or whoever runs the sports, WE NEED SPONSORS, and If you don't let companies that are willing to spend money in Motocross as sponsors, they only thing you are contributing is this, teams leaving. I hope tha we don't see teams like MCR or Rocky Mountain dissaper.

Don't know if this means much , JGR was at the last AFT race (meadowlands Mile ) with California rider Chad Cose. Maybe they are testing the waters for a potential run at dirt track.

i don't think a wake up call will happen , as long as the pay roll is met at feld / mx sports etc no one will worry , hopefully JGR can have riders on the gate @ A1 but as the days go by seems like a bad dream

Of course, there’s plenty of old shit on Craigslist to buy. But my point is that riding used to be cheap & easy to do. The closure of riding areas is the biggest problem. Not Luongo having 20 riders on the start line!

We do not know they are exiting the sport....lets not go all doom and gloom when nothing has been announced by Suzuki
