I believe his permanent career number is 92 so I’m not sure they would or if he could switch? I like 92!

If he wins the outdoor title he will be eligible for a single digit... I would think he stays with 92 though

Let’s not put the cart before the horse just yet.

It's ridiculous that they give guys without a single premiere class race a single digit number.

250 outdoor title is a national championship.

I do not like the rule change though that allowed counting 250 SX points towards your number.

I think he will stay with the number 92 because that was his amateur number, he won a lot of Loretta Lynn's championships with the 92

I hope he takes a single digit. One fat number just looks better and people instantly know that you're a champion. Look at guys like Dean Wilson that didn't take a single digit. People are like: He won a national championship?? I bet if he had to pick again he'd pick a single digit.

My thoughts entirely. At the time, Wilson was thinking of the 'brand' 15, but now, fighting to get & keep rides, a single digit number has to add value to your stock. Surely if a factory team was tossing up between two riders of very similar results & potential, the single digit on their bike is far more appealing?

When I see 5, I think Dungey. When I see 8, I think GL. When I see 9 I think IT. Adam is 92.

IT's prime was 10 years ago , it has to come to an end one day

Of course the superstars can have any number and make it work: #22, #72, #222, #94, #84..
But in general for marketing, for your brand and for the fact that the probability is high than you won't win 5+ chanmpinoships it's better as a rider to take a single digit if you have the chance to.
We here know all the riders and their number, but for your average supercross fan sitting in front of the TV it's like: Single digit = big dog

I REALLY HOPE ADAM TAKES #9. IT WOULD LOOK GREAT ON HIM AND STILL PAY HOMAGE TO THE 92 HE'S KNOWN FOR.

I was talking about branding, not when they were in their prime. The three guys I mentioned did a damn good job branding themselves around their number, just like AC will with the 92.

I don't think single digit vs double digits does anything for branding (good or bad). I mean look at Reed and KRoc, 22 94. Everyone knows who they are as soon as they see those numbers. Even triple digits don't matter (#800 for example) the rider makes the number not the other way around.

Im not a huge AC fan, but i stayed up to watch Vegas just to see him clinch it. I will be gutted even more so for him if he doesnt win the outdoor title.

Double digit numbers haven’t held Rossi, Cairoli or Marquez back.
