Do you care? Or were you stoked to be racing alongside him? What are your thoughts..

If you didn’t race, please don’t respond, there is 2 other threads to argue in.

I did not qualify for LL but I have raced Mike Brown twice at Regionals. Once this year at High Point and two years ago at Pleasure Valley. I've also lined up against Tim Ferry, John Grewe and whatever ex pros have come through the 35 and 40 classes that ran east coast regionals.

I honestly thought it was cool to line up with them and "race" against them even though my goal was really to just not get lapped. I really have no problem with it. With 30 and 45 not allowing them, I see no issue.

This...

I’d love to be on the same starting gate as any of these guys....who cares if they lap everyone! These guys are not taking anything away from another 40+ yr old...

The people who complain about Mike Brown are the same people who claim anyone faster than them in their class is a sandbagger.

He’s taking a spot on the gate from a real amateur.

Seriously...what 40+ year old really cares? Laughing If your 40+ years old and your struggling to make it to LL, does it really matter? You have already come to terms with your lack of speed...

I agree with the addition of a 40+ pee wee class, it could be for anyone who is upset that Brown took “their” spot..Laughing How fucking ridiculous...

Go to muddy creek and race him ,be way cheaper and get stoked 6 times in one day.

When Barnett smoked us in 25+ on the factory Suzuki he raced as a pro, getting to practice starts behind the gate didn't st oke me,I lost all respect

He tried to lap us all,got to fourth i recall,

I finished 8th so if he ain't there I get 7th,no big deal, but if I'd got 2nd and had good battle with 3rd while getting smoked by a 2 yr retired national champ on a real RH 250 woulda sucked

To some 40+ year old amateur rider, going to Loretta’s would be the coolest experience they ever have on two wheels. You may scoff at that, but I get it.

Brown has made his living racing some of the biggest, most prestigious races in the world. To me, the question is why does HE care so much about going to Loretta’s to beat up against a bunch of old guys that have no chance?

The whole reason going to Loretta’s is so badass is because it’s hard and they have amazing riders competing. Those that complain about ex pros racing lame and need to get better. Make it a goal. But I can tell you if you spend time on vital complaining about it you are wasting time that should be spent on the track

Bench race many times. Brownie is my hero. Watch him and RV battle on 125s last year at Washugal. RV had nice things to say. I hope #3 never retires.

Exactly. I"m too slow to qualify anymore but I raced last year against the Dogger at Havasu WORCS race. Uh, yeah, not sure how many times he lapped me. It was cool. It was awesome. No negativity.

I've haven't been there but watching the races on youtube or wherever the track just doesn't seem that neat to me. I'd rather go to Mammoth if I was going to do a big race. I like Glen Helen as well. Southwick would be awesome. How about Unadilla. What I guess I'm saying is Lorretta Lynn's isn't anywhere on my list.

I'm not sure why Mike Brown goes to that race. I guess someone should ask him.

It wouldn't bother me one bit, but at 57 I've lost all pretensions of being the next coming of RC. I'm just out there to race my best and if that means stacking myself up against an ex-pro, cool.

I have competed in both the National Flatpicking Championship (that's flatpicking guitar for you people who don't know nothing 'bout nuthin') and Nat'l Mandolin Championship, 5x and 3x respectively . You enter that sucker and you're going to be up against at least 5 previous winners, at least 10 guys are are full time professionals, and at least 5 snot nosed teenagers who could blow you away from the time they were 6. The only real rule is that you can't be playing at the festival that year. That's the deal. Those are the rules. If you don't like them, don't compete. Out of 40 contestants, 5 guys make the cut to the 2nd round. I don't have a prayer of winning- have never even made the 5/40 cut to do the finals- but playing in the contest has made ME a much better player and I met some personal goals.

I see LL's the same way. If Mike Brown can _legally_ race, then you'd just better be prepared to beat him, if he's in your class. Those are the rules. It's not like he pulled a fast one over the rulebook.

I was too outraged to try to qualify.

I would have won if it weren't for him.

Oh yeah? Well, I'm outraged and I'm heading to the Global Rage thread in Non-Moto to post about it. Think I'll have a nap after that.

I raced him last year in 25+. We jumped the triple table together as he lapped me, it was sweet. Doesn’t bother me and it’s cool being on the gate with em.

It is nice that the 30+ class excludes point paid pros though. Definitely more competitive for true amateurs.

MX Sports already solved this problem. There are Sportsman vet classes that don't allow ex-pros who have ever scored points. So you have your own choice. Either qualify for the normal vet class or try your hand against ex-pros if you dare. So why are we even talking about this still?

In a class that is NOT EXCLUSIVE OF EX-Pro racers. There are other classes in which vet riders can run that do not allow pros.
