Had to sell my 05 yz250 recently to come up with some money...was seriously thinking about trying to find a left over 18 suzuki to finance once life calms down in the next few months. Just being on something not every one rides, being able to get on one for cheap and not having to deal with battery maintenance seems cool.

It could be a little lighter and have electric start... I think thats about it, haha. I dont think you can really base much off the shoot out stuff but Im sure thats already been argued and Im coming into this thread pretty late lol

I got ready for the Hawaiian Supercross on a bone stock bike with a pipe, finally did suspension like a week before the race and thats it. Unless your a top 15 pro guy I dont think youre going to be noticing a big difference or need to do any mods to really any bike but thats just my opinion. Hell, I would have raced it stock if it wasnt for whoops.

Pipe down Mary, I love Suzuki's...I've owned five. That doesn't mean to say I can't be realistic about their short comings.
No short comings, stock bike with yosh and I don't know if Renner's bike is mod or somewhat stock or a 250 or 450. At the amateur level the bike is only limited by your riding skill level.

I don't concern myself with the why and why nots at the pro level because privateers choose a bike based on several factors that only matter to them.

Weekend warrior here that rides once a week if i'm lucky. Came off a fully built KTM 300XC and came back to Suzuki's to have fun on motocross tracks. Being a broke college student having a bulletproof Suzuki that was cheap to buy in the first place is the ideal situation for me and i'm sure it is for many others as well. Keep the hydro clutch, doesn't make a difference to me, and the estart was nice in enduros but I didn't use it in the pits.

Simplicity and durability go a long way for some people.

yet people don't buy them, because they are seen as technically behind,

Suzuki has shat all over their long term dealers, with lack of development across the whole motorcycle range in the last 10 years,
no side by side which is one of the fastest growing market,
no 2 strokes,
mx bikes well behind in modern features,
no update on the kids bike range, (trail and MX)
no enduro bikes,
it will take a long time to come back from where they are now,

the 08 RMZ450 was the most modern mx bike of its time, that was the last time Suzuki lead with anything offroad,

Suzuki should become the “value” brand. Don’t change a thing and reintroduce their last 125/250 two strokes, they were great. Keep their prices low. There is a need for this in the market.

As for the racing scene, they need to keep involved to stay relevant.
They seem to be that way with outboards. Just spend over $15k for a new 200hp suzuki, Yamaha and Evinrude was about $5k more than a suzuki.

Agree 100%, and I was able to get into a brand new un molested machine for under $5K. For some people this holds value, and if it keep the sport going and people on bikes I wouldn't be too quick to judge. Johnny Jumper and his buddies can go buy orange, white, blue, red....whatever, and power to them. Those are great bikes, but I will take my non current and have as much or more fun, pass a few of them, and simply enjoy the sport. Don't need E-start, would like to have it, but don't need it

Really like my '14, and EVERYONE that has ridden it says the same thing "didn't realize how good these bikes are"....its the same story

Peace

Suzuki will never phase out of mx/sx. There will always be good riders who will accept a contract to ride one. I thought it was awesome to watch Bogle (mid pack rider) snatch holeshots from the top riders in outdoors last yr. Freddie Noren could run in the front of the pack for a little while too and Chisholm is definitely a top 15 rider this yr. Plus, a tricked out Suzuki looks so damn fine!
