We need all different personalities in our sport. Listen to his interview in pulpmx and I think you will lighten up on him a little. He’s actually smarter then a lot of the guys. He graduated from public school. Not homeschooled and I’m sure that made it tough to compete in armatures
It's sad that it's considered an accomplishment and a high measure of intelligence if someone has graduated from High School in this sport...
I think you’re reading that the wrong way - it is impressive that he is so successful on a motorcycle while attending traditional school. Seems that is not the norm due to the time constraints attending public school would put on actively pursuing a career as a professional mx rider.

I think a lot of folks talking about intelligence haven’t made the connection that usually to go that freaking fast you have to be a little slower up between the ears.

He definitely needs to lighten up, but he actually seems like a smart kid to me. Time will tell, but he’s going to be a contender all year, so I guess we’ll see how it goes.

Cmon bro he needs to shit on his competition in interviews then go blow fat tails after the race like JLaw. Then he will be cool

You can maybe see why he was so frustrated with losing especially at Lakewood. Were it not for AC this kid would have several wins piled up. It gets annoying when the same person keeps taking what you view as your money. So while I don't agree with his approach claiming AC should have been disqualified for his off-track run I can understand it. Being a graduate from a normal high school I'm sure he has a different outlook on money and life than his "homeskooled" competition.
I can assure you that he wants to win badly regardless of the paycheck. You don’t get that good because you’re looking for a pay out.

And they say the money isn’t in MX racing???? When Reed won the MX title he made bank, but that was under different circumstances. Was it RV or RD that his winning titles so rapidly took such a large hit in the team/company budget that the reward bonuses were made in extended payments?
Another reminder it sucks to have no natural ability that can help pay dividends in a big way!
Wasnt it something with Dunge where Suzuki couldnt afford to pay his bonuses or I guess like you said had to make payments

Pretty sure that was 2010, and can you really blame Suzuki for not being ready on that one? Who would have predicted that a guy with only a handful of wins in *250s would come out and smoke both c-ships in his rookie 450 year?

*Yes, I know he won the title in '09.

This is my meltdown post because some of these responses are ignorant as shit.

Not everyone is a wordsmith in front of the camera. Many people have stage-fright and anxiety. Flowing a conversation in public can be very difficult and not everyone can master it. Does that mean they're an asshole or have horrible personalities? NO!!! My son is a high level college football player that has a very difficult time in front of the camera. He's on medication because of social anxiety, but he's a fucking beast on the field and helps his D1 football team win games. People that meet him one on one instantly fall in love with him, it's just answering questions and being on the spot he's very black and white and robotic with his answers. I bet half the guys talking shit about JC's personality would freeze in front of the camera or stumble with answers on the spot in front of hundreds/thousands of people. It even makes me cringe with the position that my son is in, but in all reality these kids aren't successful because of their media personalty. It's because they make shit happen when it counts. You guys want a bubbly personality, go follow a Kardashian, this is fucking motocross. /rantoff

How many championship points should be awarded to the guy who wins the podium interview?

Cooper is a young person, he will grow up. Hopefully some of you do too. If he got 40 grand good for him.

Who are these heroes you're referring to? Did they use laser pointers and try to smash their competitors kill switch?

Not having enough personality for you is one thing. But to call him slow/stupid is another. From what I know, he was a straight A student, and was set to go to college, but then Loretta's 2017 happened, and here we are. In this world he seems to be doing just fine. Dude is a beast on a dirt bike, and that's really all that matters.

Nah.

That was just listing the E.R. Bill for out-of-network treatment of heat stroke.
This is what he would need to pay out of pocket before being seen.

Agreed, fourfourone’s post that derailed this thread really hit on two different things: personality and intelligence. And as Dean pointed out above, struggling to speak on camera isn’t always related to either of those. JC is struggling with fans at the moment, largely due to his whining about ACs off-track excursion, IMO. Being “dry” on camera just adds fuel to fire for those that already don’t like him. Sure, results are ultimately what matters (see $40k pitboard pic), but it’s crazy to say that being popular with the fans doesn’t (see Roczen’s Breitling ambassadorship.)

40k for a win is right on par with what I’d expect for Justin.

There’s nothing I can say that Jeff Alessi didn’t already other than most 250 team riders have a base salary of $40k a year. Some guys structure their contract to incentivize win bonuses with low base salary. Some guys have practically no bonuses and have a higher salary- and those are the riders with long careers like Brayton etc.

Also, most guys go for bonuses early, and salary late. I could say specific names that would shock some of you guys but I also want to continue being friends with certain people.

I do wish there was more transparency in moto, the same way there is in other professional sports.

And why does everyone want to pick on him so much? He is just a kid. Glad he is there. Makes the races more interesting.
Reminds me of Leon Spinks.. Leon what you do for a livin? " I knock MFR's Out"

Dude spent a lot of time outside the tent meeting kids and talking to people at East Rutherford SX, just being available to the fans.

Fuck him because he wants to win, right?

All the crying and whining from the "fans" makes me like him whereas I used to be completely impartial.

Does the mechanic usually bonus separately as well? Or does Justin give a portion of that 40 to him?

I am with you, besides the fact that some of the jokers in this forum think Justin is "having trouble with fans" because a few vitalmx forum keyboard jockeys say that it is so. LOL!
