Some of you are so 100% buying in to the GH bs. It really does look like they are holding a free practice day just to screw MX sports and Pala over.
Many of you are already buying it with this "Hell yeah, screw the national I´m going for a free practice day".
So less attendees at the Pala national, less income and just overall less interest. Feels like GH is doing this so that the Pala national looks bad so GH has more leverage in the discussions in the future.

Might not actually be like this, but it sure as hell looks like it.
Probably, but that is the American way.

If you want to do So. Cal. moto fans a real favor, reschedule this onto a weekend that’s not the same as a national you used to host. It makes you look very petty.

We are excited to announce Glen Helen Fan Appreciation Free Practice day
Saturday May 25, 2019
Includes free practice with a $10 donation and all proceeds go to
High Hopes Head Injury Foundation - A Tom White favorite charity

Also includes FREE Catered Lunch Courtesy of Chaparral Motorsports

JoJo's Grill-A-Dog 11:30 - 1:30
Although Glen Helen isn’t hosting the 2019 MX National, we will be watching it live in the World Famous Glen Helen Museum from 1pm-5pm.
All Tracks will be open, National, Vet/REM, Peewee and Stadiumcross Tracks 8am-2pm. Additionally, UTV Trail Ride (6 mile course) 3pm-7pm.
Must have helmets for everyone in UTV.
I see your point. But I think it's brilliant! The way I see this is Bud wants to take care of the fans that don't want to go through the shit show that Pala was years ago. They can ride all morning AND watch the national on a big screen with all their moto buddies...and all the while supporting a great cause.

Why not have the event this Saturday so there could be a bigger turnout (more donations to the cause) and a bigger crowd to watch the series opener? All without competing with the local National.

Why not donate proceeds from the "Vet World Championship"? There is no mention of this charity being involved with any other events held by Glen Helen. http://glenhelen.com/

Sunday would have been an AMAZING day to hold it. Even open the place up to camping for the weekend and let people go to the race and come back and rip in the morning.
Yeah but that would actually show respect and appreciation for the SoCal moto fans.

Because it wouldn't be a big middle finger to Pala and MXSports.

Mr. Info,

Ok, I've read your smoke and mirrors postings. You are doing yourself a disservice by playing the spin game. Why don't you get back to a position of integrity and just admit that th GH event includes an attempt to screw with the national. Don't insult our intelligence by trying to construe it as something it isn't. Sadly, when I first saw it announced my thought was "Just another dick move in a long line of similar moves". Now I am also wondering why some guy is trying to blow smoke up my ass.

p.s. If this event truly comes from altruistic charitable purposes, the few thousand dollars being raised at $10 a head really isn't that impressive. Now if GH/Feldkamp also threw $20,000 to $50,000 in the pot it would be much easier to buy this as a charitable event.

I am surprised MX Sports has not got an injunction to stop the playing of the National public facility ( ie glen Helen) ala The Chad Reed helmet cam gambit.

Dude, the issue is that GH decides to announce a week and a half before the National that they are doing a free "charity benefit ride" the same day as the National. You really expect people to believe that it wasn't planned as a "fuck you" to MXSports? Come on man. Pull your head out of Glen Helen's ass. I stopped going there long ago for many reasons and this doesn't make me want to go back anytime soon.

Why wouldn't you guys do something like that this Saturday for the opener or the following weekend? The public isn't as stupid as you guys think. I'll tell you, it's a great idea! I'd gladly support it, if it wasn't just being done as a "fuck you." Pretty pathetic of GH.
You better race with me at the 2 stroke championship next year! Wink Tongue

Typical GH, I feel sorry for Lori having to work with these people. They suck and trying to sabotage another SoCal track's big moment.

Knowing Tom White the way I did, I would bet he would be disgusted with this move. He loved motocross and wouldn't want his name being dragged into something that will hurt the sport.

You stay classy Bud.

I’m not Kreskin but I doubt anyone who was going to Pala is going to change their plans and go to Glen Helen now instead. But at least if the turn out for the national is low everyone can blame it on Glen Helen ?

Do you know if the family objected they would not do it Matthes. Do you know that anything that involves Tom White is Run past the family.
What the F does it matter to anyone going to the National that Glen Helen has a practice day and the $10 dollars goes to High Hopes. Why that day because it was an open Saturday this Saturday is not and neither is either Sunday.
If you guys don’t like Glen Helen it’s not a big deal. If you don’t want to come to Glen Helen it’s no big deal.
Look there are some that swear buy MX Sports and your passion follows them that’s fine. There are more of you that don’t know what the cost is for a National and are willing to accept everyone is jumping to have one. But if the money was coming out of your pocket as a business man you would want the best deal for you and if it meant losing money your not that good a business man.
Like I said every other SoCal Track will be open and those that don’t go to Pala will be riding somewhere and if it’s not Glen Helen so be it. You don’t have to come and myself or anyone else can’t force you to come. I any of you think people are being forced or blackmailed to go you should enjoy a good conspiracy theory movie.
Guy B started this post and brought out all the negatives that other people have not Glen Helen. All the track did was give them an option on how to spend their day if they did not want to go.
Yes Glen Helen will lose money for the day being open and the $10 goes to High Hopes. Glen Helen has not started one negative post about MX Sports or Pala but only defended itself and we still will not say anything negative. Enjoy the National at Pala. Guy you brought this on yourself so you live with the negatives posted.
Pala should have started a long time ago promoting new manager and how things will be better for this years event and not let past years reflect on Pala and promise it will be better but no promoting that.
I like Davey and I like Bud but neither of them will I walk on water for or worship. I do and say what I want and they both know it. And the others who need to kiss someone’s ass means your not a leader and never will be.
I could say way way more but I am trying to respect both parties. I’m going back to riding my Husky now this is old fucking news. ?????

Maybe I'm in the minority here ( as I didn't read any replies ).......but if I lived down there , I'd be there in a heart beat! Screw the live national , when I can get home after riding all day , I can watch it later that evening. I do that all summer long anyways. The only way I'm missing a ride day is if I'm over worked ( which I am right now ) or if the weather sucks ( which it does right now ) .

I know there is some animosity between GH and MXsports.......but seriously , who gives a shit? Go ride your brains out on an awesome track all day , then watch the motos when you get home. Who the hell " doesn't " do that?

You lived here you could ride GH
any given weekend or Thursday. National in person is once a year. I thought you were CORE.

Here I go disagreeing with the most intelligent guy on the board.....To me CORE is being consumed with the sport. Jeff builds bikes, rides, spectates at Shougal and PIR, watches on tv and does the message board thing. He lives and breathes moto. He is a CORE enthusiast? Should I put it that way?

If approx 1,000 show up at GH that means Pala loses 50,000 from gate entries and concessions lose possibly 25,000 then shirt sells lose 10,000...potentially 85,0000 in loses for Pala.

My opinion is not kissing ass its my opinion.
Let’s say for shits and giggles Milestone did this would it be the same reaction or LACR or Perris or Cahuilla no. I think all the SoCall tracks open should do the same that Saturday and give the money to a charity they believe in.
And since you don’t know me very well I say a lot of negatives about Glen Helen as well. I have walked out of races I was working because of things I didn’t like. I just told Lori yesterday the way the practice day was worded was wrong because if practice was free a donation is any amount not a set amount. There are days I won’t ride or race cause the tracks a piece of shit. No I don’t kiss ass. Enjoy the Nationals at the track nearest you and support the racers and the tracks and teams.

If you can prove that those 1000 people were intending to go to Pala but changes their minds to ride GH, then you'd be onto something.

There's a difference with those tracks and GH. LACR, Perris, Milestone and Cahuilla wouldn't do anything like this. Hell, LACR even closed one Saturday so they could attend and support Supercross. One of our local shops, Factory MX, did the exact same thing.

Regardless of the motivation, seems like riding would be supporting the sport more the watching. Few pros if any pay for, bikes, gear parts etc, guessing everyone riding is paying for all the companys racing, figure that 1000 dollar exhaust is going towards some riders salalry etc...the sport is the weekend rider not the pro's racing, which is really just advertising. Of course just an opinion.
