I wish NBC put as much effort into the racing as they did trying to catch Forkner eating candy.

On that note, the fact that a rider downing Pixy Stix and ice cream is excitement bordering on scandal really shows how damned BORING most of our riders have become Grinning (their public personas, anyway)

What's with Austin chugging down tubes of sparkle dust between Moto's then turning up at press conference eating a tub of ice-cream?
Is this some new training regime where pro's hit up the local Dairy Queen as much as the gym?Whistling Woohoo
Sparkle dust aka pixie sticks are almost purely Dextrose. Dextrose is commonly used directly after anaerobic workouts (aka supercross) as a fast digesting simple sugar to help insulin shuttle protein back into fatigued muscles, helping speed up the recovery process.

Ice cream has a trifecta of sugar, protein, and carbohydrates. All of which are beneficial in the muscle repair process, especially carbohydrates helping replenish glycogen levels. Not to mention I’m sure it’s more of a “reward” for doing well than sipping a watered down protein shake and eating an apple.

At this age, and with his regimen, his body will reap the benefits of all the essential nutrients and burn through all the crappy waste byproduct like it’s nothing.

They talked about it on the broadcast. Sugar for energy apparently.

I read an article about Austin’s Mom recently that said he tried to cut down his Dr. Pepper “habit” to 1-a-day. Frankly I think the ice cream and pixie sticks are just Austin trying to play with peoples heads a bit.
Once you get that Dr. Pepper monkey on your back it’s hard to get it off. I know Dr. Pepper cherry is like crack for me.

I remember my first Dr Pepper. I was pretty small but it was amazing. maybe 1963 or 64.

The mix is supposed to be different in the south and some people bring it back by the case when they travel there.

I don't drink soda much but once in awhile a Dr Pepper hits the spot.

Not sure about the Dr. Pepper, and I'm not much of a pop or cola guy, but I was down in Fort Irwin a few years ago, and the food trucks that show up out in the training area had Coke in glass bottles, one of the guys said it tasted different than up here. It was for sure different, I nearly got hooked on the stuff... Don't think I've had more than 2 cokes in the 9 years since.
I love Dr Pepper and coke in glass bottles. There is a candy shop near a local track I ride often, I always stop to stock up on glass bottled pop.

Dr Pepper in the bottle was bottled and produced in Dublin, TX. They used Cain sugar and had a much different taste then a can. The bottled coke was produced from Mexico with a much stronger sugar as well. Dr Pepper shut that plant down so not sure you can still find it. Next time you are in a hole of wall Mexican restaurant ask for coke in a bottle.

The Dr Pepper and Coke I buy are both bottled in Mexico. Too bad it’s not made in bottles in the USA anymore.

Yes, but I cheated--my wife is from Bannister Green (just outside of Braintree, Essex) so I've had a chance to enjoy alot of English treats! Milkybars are AWESOME! As is anything Cadbury!

These guys are athletes burring ridiculous amounts of calories weekly. If a trainer cant program some "fun" food into their diet, it's insane... no wonder these guys get so burnt out. No reason why these dudes can't eat 80/20 and be PERFECTLY healthy, strong, lean... Ice Cream, in moderation, is excellent post-workout as long as it fits into their overall caloric goal.

From his youtube videos, it seems like he eats bacon pretty regularly for breakfast, too.

One thing I noticed when in California recently was going into a Starbucks and asking for a Caramel Latte with sugar free caramel syrup the barista looked all confused and said they don't stock sugar free alternatives!
In the Land of "my body is a temple" found that hard to comprehend????

All the Gavins will be swigging Monsters and snorting Pixy Stix before their moto's now, followed by ice-cream after their motos. Fancy shovelling that shit into his gob during a press conference.

Maybe because sugar is better for you than any of the synthetic sweetners? Secondly what in the hell is a Milky Bar?

One of the 450 podium finishers may or may not have had a coors light in their hand walking back to the team rig. I hope no one is offended

First off, HariBRos gummies are the best FGR. They have 2g's of protein in each serving.

I had gummy bears on my way home from the track yesterday. Love those things. Was Forkner actually eating pixi sticks, or is it some other supplement that's packaged the same?

Whos on the tart cherry juice kick for post workout recovery? Definitely a healthier alternative to pixies and gummies.
