Yep it’s a struggle. I really think they miss Emig. It’s not working at all at the moment and at times the commentary is down right boring considering the great season it is..

Though I understand and agree with your observation, I think we all forget that this show is being produced. There was an interview with Emig where he was talking about the challenges of being an announcer, one was overcoming his stutter and the process in which he had to go through with a speech therapist, and the other was being able to talk while the producers were talking to him and telling him what they wanted him to talk about / things to say - as he was talking.

Much like the no child left behind act, the program is "dumbed" down on purpose, so that the average person who has isn't a motocross fanatic will understand what is going on.

RC talking about things more in debt would be great commentary for the core fans of the sport, though when a TV show's goal is to obtain new viewership / get their ratings up, then talking about things that don't interest them or that they don't understand will cause people to lose interest.

I think the main thing to remember is that Ralph and RC are talking about what the producers are telling them to talk about, and to make the show understandable to the masses, and exciting, with the goal of growing the sport / making more money.

Just 2 posts and this is what you have to say? double up on the tampex and take some midol, some of us are busy watching the race because we like mx and not analyzing every little thing the commentators say... RC, Ralph, Emig, Langston.. they all do well enough.

Ricky sounds so stupid. He was home schooled and was self taught. Get him off the air.Grant Langston is way better.. David Bailey was better. Daniel Blair way better.Erin Bates even better. I know that was a stretch. No one at NBC knows this or do they not care.as a person I have nothing against Ricky and he was incredible motorcycle rider but he is in no way a commentator

Ricky and Ralph are both garbage, period.

I like both them but they're terrible and make this sport look very amateurish on the highest level. Not a good look for attracting new fans or sponsors.

Ralph sounds like he's pitching a damn home shopping info commercial every time anything comes out of his mouth and I hate to say it but the GOAT sounds lost behind the mic. I personally feel it has a lot to do with his working relationship wirh current racers and the fact he's trying to do two jobs at once.


Ralph has to go after this year and RC needs to go back to Daniel Blair's current gig. Daniel Blair and Jason Weigant should be the announcers 100% no questions asked. That is if Field wanted professional announcers that were in tune with the sport or they can keep looking Mickey Mouse!

I don't mind Ralph at all. I think he does his job well, he is the play by play. It seems to me that Ricky is almost trying to do a play by play announcing as well, instead of focusing on the technical aspect of it. If he stuck to his role, I think he could be ok, but he just doesn't seem to understand what his role is, or isn't comfortable doing that part and just tries to call the races, which is not his job.

I whole heartily agree, however, Who is really even listening to the commentary? We are all so balls deep in the sport that I couldn’t care less what’s being said on the screen, I don’t even notice it. I’m either so focused in or talking the entire time, often saying the same things a second or two before Ricky does.
