Probably the dumbest is thinking it's a good idea to take the way outside line that the roost has piled up on. Excellent for a picture but not at all fast.

I hope the pebble bouncing around in my googles will land in my eye so I can finally concentrate.

2014 ironman gncc, i decide to try and hydroplane the creek right to the left of the godzilla jump but the thing was i was on a 150 at the time and. there was litterally no room to gain speed and a huge drop off in the creek...i ended up with a bike full of water on that one

Got a horrible start(outside the top 20 of 40) and thought i would make really aggressive moves in the first lap when everyone are bunched up. Well i went full Friese in a 180 corner and completely misjudged the other rider on the outside and his speed. We both went down and my bars were so bent that i was barely able to ride to the pits.

DNF-8 on the day.

Was going to a race in n ga called resaca beach that was just a shit hole.

No watering system except for the start. I had raced there earlier in the year and it was terribly dusty. We were in a drought so I figured it would be even worse.

I got a bunch of surgical masks and came up with a setup to tie them and tear them off.

Never did get really good starts and this race was no exception. After about a lap and several powdery dust berms the top mask was pretty much clogged. The fun came when it wouldn't rip off. A half a lap later I am on the side of the track gasping for air and trying to tear them off. Finally got them pulled down enough that I could breath.

Just decided I would chance berm lung for the next moto.

I have a good one. It was at Bremen about 15 years ago and it was cold as balls and the track was kind of icy and slick. There were two hot Canadian girls visiting and they were flagging. I tried to show off and gas it and slid out and broke my flex handlebars I had on. Handlebars hit that icy dirt and just snapped. I was so embarrassed. lol

But it was snowing and it warmed me up so maybe it wasn't so dumb after all...
I have a friend who did the exact same thing on a cold enduro Laughing

"A one handed thumbs up wheelie will really impress those hot girls standing by the fence". Turns out...eating shit in front of them did impress....about the same as seeing a dog eat it's own poop.

Wasn't during a race, but during practice at a sx race. I pulled over to see how some guys where hitting a section, when I was ready to go back out I rode onto the track and when I pulled up the banners to go under they caught my visor and pulled me off the bike in front of a half full stadium. They had to stop the guys coming because my bike ghosted onto the track.

Regional qualifier for LL, 85cc 14-15 class. Pulled the holeshot in my first moto and had a decent gap about a third into the first lap. I wasn't the best at starts and always came from behind... so I was excited and really pushing. There was a series of 4 small jumps that I had only done 2-2 but had watched some A riders launch all 4. I just went for it, wide open thinking I could flat land it no problem.

Hit the first jump, rear kicked the nose down and I went head first into the 3rd or 4th jump (don't know).

When I got up, I couldn't lift my arm and ended up with a broken collarbone. Should have been a great weekend that ended in less than 1 lap.
Mine is very similar. My starts have always been awful and this race was the only time my friend and myself happened to be racing the same class. I end up getting the holeshot, and there are 4 very small jumps that I had been doubling through during practice. Thinking I need to stay ahead I went for the quad, I made it, but also had no shot of stopping in time, so off the track and out of first I went.

The best part about it though was in the second moto, the roles were reversed. My friend got the holeshot and his dumbass also went for the quad with the exact same outcome when he had clearly seen what happened to me in the 1st moto

This will show my age. First race in 1972. Wore tennis shoes because I didn’t have any boots of any kind. Tipped over in a sandy turn and the bike was laying on me and when I pulled my leg out my shoe slipped right off. Being that I was in the middle of a race I got on my bike with one shoe and one sock and finished the moto. Thank god for rubber pegs back in the day. After the Moto a flag kid ran over with my shoe and gave it back to me so I at least had something to wear on the way home

It’s funny I have a hard time remembering what I ate for breakfast but I can still picture that day in my head as clear as can be
That’s awesome!

Not idea, but brain fart.

Hadn’t been on a certain trail for awhile, out with a buddy and ripping pretty hard and forgot there were two washed out bridges instead of one, he was being me some.

Coming up on second bridge, my eyes opened up and my brain went into super processing,

Bob Hannah, “when in doubt gas it”
If I lay it down I’ll have broken bones everywhere from hitting a huge tree on its side, the far abutment.
Then I remembered the same friend had a bad experience by slamming on the brakes, fell hard into a culvert washout.

Preloaded, giver, back compressed super hard but lived, lol.
He still talks about it to this day.

Fear is a great motivator.

How does that work with ZUS over there? I was there in 2012 racing OML near Lublin and I was very nervous about getting hurt. You hear all these crazy stories. Did they take care of him OK and he's all healed up now? That's a pretty serious injury.
He's got his own business, therefore his employees kept generating income even when he was in bed for almost 2 months. He's back on a bike now Smile

We do have a public health care here, so you don't pay for it from your own pocket, instead of that a part of your monthly income goes to health fund.

In case you're for example unable to work for 2 months, you receive 80% of your normal salary.

Dumbest thought I had (multiple times) was sitting on the starting gate and thinking:

How the fuck are 40 guys going to fit in that first turn.

Dumbest idea during a race had to be threading the needle on the inside of another rider and cleaning the both of us out, telling him to drop down to novice if he's going to be a pussy, then seeing that he was parked next to me in the pits, and here's the dumb idea... riding up to my van alone (to this day I'd love to know where my dad and brother were). Needless to say it resulted in a fight in the pits at Pala in front of everyone.

lol I did something like that once. Had a guy dive inside me in a turn giving me a little elbow action and then fall down so I blurted out "nice job asshole" as I went back buy. We weren't parked next to each other but he followed me back to my van and needless to say it didn't go well Wink

I thought i'd try pull a hero, Pourcel-like line at our local track... steep downhill, 120° left back up the hill... swung wide, cut across the hill behind the guy in front, apexed the corner drifted wide to the jump out...

Felt smug as shyte with my racecraft till he clipped my back end WFO coming back up. I go down in the landing zone of the jump, next bike's rear wheel to my head. Wake up to the medics and Pops bringing me around. Clever!

Not motocross related but from when I raced snocross . One Saturday night after the first day of qualifying a fellow racer and my teammates where sharing a beer and laughed what if two guys crashed and got on the wrong sleds. Sunday qualifying left me in the back row of the Semi Pro open final on a stock sled. One of the guys from Saturday's discussion was also in the back row. We joked we should attempt that feat if we where not in a paying position. I rode an Arctic Cat that year and he a Ski Doo. So for this to work we would need a teather chord for each brand of sled hooked to our jackets. With one lap to go I purposely screwed up in the corner, he followed and did the same next to me. We each jumped on the other's sled and finished the race. The crowd and the announcer where laughing about the finish.

I was about 10 and was about to win my moto. Figured I'd pull a Ricky Johnson-esque one-hander over the finish line which I did. However, as I put my hand back on the bars and landed, my hand slipped off and I ate it. Woke up to my dad standing over yelling "You're a special kind of stupid, aren't ya?"

But hey - I still won. :-)

I always assume that everybody in attendance is watching only me and so I'm constantly thinking about how my style looks to them and whether or not they think I'm fast. Obviously nobody cares, but that thought is constantly flashing through my mind. It kills me, but I've given up trying to not think it.
