Gotta say that I watched the boys across the pond today and it was some flat out racing and hauling the mail all day and the two 450 races came down to last lap each moto!! More excitement in those two races then I’ve seen in supercross yet!! I know people like what they like and that’s all cool but if our pilots are gonna ever stand a chance against the like of Herlings or ac#222 we better start getting our outdoor groove back as I swear those guys are destroying any damn track they show up to!! I feel like Herlings and Carrolli could possibly beat our boys at red budd and not sweat it as those speeds they were going today were freaking insane!! Sorry bout the long vent on how I wish we raced more motocross and could get our dominance back again!! Guess we will see
I agree that track looked BITCHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still make America favourites at the MXoN because they don’t race Europe as a team. Europe’s best guys are split up. Desalle, Febvre, Jonass, Cairoli and Herlings racing for different countries gives USA a huge chance, USA can pick the three best riders from an entire continent, no other country can do that and there is no team Europe at the MXoN.

That’s why racing the MXGP world championship is the true test and barometer for who the best is outdoor, not MXoN team results.

But MXGP shouldnt be seen as US v them, it’s time to end that nonesense, it’s the WORLD championship and America are part of the world - it’s your championship too. Everyone should enjoy the championship and feel part of it.

This. USA have a much deeper pool to fish from. NL, Italy, Germany and Slovenia may have 1 rider that is faster than the fastest US guy, the team will always be weaker. Now France is a different story with Belgium right behind them. They can suit a strong team like USA. Prediction MXoN 2018 (ridiculously early):

1. USA
2. France
3. Belgium

Its a great time to be a fan of the sport! 20 rounds of World GP motocross and 17 rounds of Supercross. I enjoy both series equally for different reasons.

Nice to see you have'nt changed. I didn't know the USA could take Canadian or Mexican riders? There are 23 independent States that make up North America. THe USA is 1 of them The Netherlands just proved that size doesn't matter in the Olympics. Why? Because winter sports matter in that country. It's their passion and past time. Outside the guys on this board, no one cares about MX/SX in the USA. It's a fringe sport at best.

Watched a few minutes of the mxgp racing this morning and look forward to being able to watch all of it.

I was struck by the awesomeness of the track and the racing it allowed.

Ac and jh are truly at the top of their game.

We can only hope that by the time the supercross carnage is over to have a couple of riders that show that level of speed and rivalry.

One thing that also struck me was how much better the tracks look without all the repeater. Their signage is placed well without overwhelming all the viewing.

Yeah I agree. I enjoy watching both, but if I had to make a choise I would go with the GPs. SX is just more of the show and I understand that that’s where the money is and it’s made easier for casual audience to watch and follow. But for a true motohead I think MXGP is where it’s at right now.

The 450 racing yesterday was awesome. Those guys were flying! That track was cool and not rutocross.
AC and JH are at another level.

But to be fair to our guys, the GP guys spend all their time riding and testing for MX. Over here they have to split their time and season up. 2 different skill sets.

The best guys on the N. American continent are from the USA, so they get the best guys on the continent.

Size does matter, why do the USA not choose a team from one state? Because the team would be weaker with less riders to choose from. And would Belgium have a better chance if it was the size of Europe so they could pick, Jonass, Herlings and Cairoli? Yes.

If it was team Europe v USA, it’s much harder for USA to win the race than a MXoN country v country event due to the size advantage of the USA and the amount of riders they can choose from. It’s pretty logical.

The thing is american riders do sx and moto and still hold the same speed as the GP guys. The GP guys have failed a huge majority of the time to keep up on a supercross track. Id like to see either US outdoors or GPs removed and combine all the top riders in the world for SX and outdoor series. Imagine the competition. It would be like 2012 sx every year with 6/7 top guys winning every week.

Track made them look fast also. It is a high speed track. Compare it to a faster version of southwick but with open turns

Watched the GP last nite! Track was epic...real outdoor MX... What most of us grew up riding and still ride...agree with the statement about MX sports outdoor track prep... Leave the f@&$kin tracks alone, let them get rough, put water down, leave the disc in the shed....The only thing I did not like about the GP was the amount of riders on the gate, should be 40 man gate...if I was a aspiring AMA pro, I would seriously think about racing the GP"s, lately SX just appears to be a career killer....

One of earlier outdoor races last year they specifically did not ripp the track as deep as usual and it immediately got positive feedback from the riders for allowing more passing

Except for the last lap of 1 moto, that MXGP race was probably 1 of the most boring races I have ever watched.
3/5/2018 6:02am
The top GP riders are phenomenal at dealing with differing surfaces, finding lines, adapting etc. It's a very technical and intelligent form of riding, a necessity for the title.

Go back and watch AMA motocross from the 90s etc and minus the mud it's the same deal. Talk from David Bailey of the mechanics changing tyres, finding a set-up that works for Hangtown compared to Glen Helen etc. These days nobody talks about tyres... Everyone just runs an almost identical set-up from race to race - if the rider's own words are to be believed. So yes, AMA motocross has lost something imo and yes, the riders race too much damn Supercross... Same problem we've all pointed out a dozen times really.

All that said, I have no doubt the likes of Anderson, Tomac and the other top riders hold a significant edge overall on the AMA tracks... Jeffrey may win the motos, idk, but those guys will dominate Red Bud the team result if there.

Great riders from all over the world, let the races begin. I say the USA has the best injured racers in the world.

People forget the interview with tomac last year where he clearly stated that the mxgp boys are now ahead of the game in motocross and that they were super intense the mi Ute the gate dropped!! To each their own but I much prefer actual racing on a outdoor track with guys flat out hauling the mail and dicing back and fourth and if people think that the race yesterday was boring then I’m glad you have supercrosss to keep you on the edge od your seats!!

I wasn’t comparing mxgp to the outdoors, I was just comparing that race to an actual race!

Kawboys Patagonia highlights:

MX2: Jonas got out front and made it a sleeper except for a couple minor almost slide outs by Lawrence as he moved backwards

MX1: cairolli got out front both motos and made it a sleeper except for herlings brought the crowd to life as he schooled the field on doubling the waves on his way to a last lap heroic Workman like ride to the victory!

Shitty thing is if you want to post something normal you come in to contact with those carrying such diseased minds.

I swear for all the good posters and info this place drags your iq down having trawl thru 10 tons of garbage just to find some inteligence.

I've said it before and I will say it again... hybrid tracks (half SX/half MX). Now that the races are timed it wouldn't matter what the lap times are. Even in a stadium they could do Daytona-esque tracks. Racing is racing, so the tracks don't need to have as many jumps as they do now.

If more of the SX tracks were "hybrid" I think they would be safer. I will agree that I think that for the most part less riders get injured during nationals.

They don't have the same speed, herlings already proved that.. remember?? Second, Herlings was riding like he was on a mx2 machine and last year he did say that he was thinking that he was on his top with the 450 with the speed. For me it's looks like AC and JH bringing each other to another level.. The both of them want the red plate. AC to get even with everts and Herling to win his first title and proof AC that he is the new guy.

The sx is a no go for a european most of the time coz we didn't grew up with that kinda stuff and without BAM BAM( i always liked that guy) and roczen out is boring as hell to watch. What some of ur Americans forget is that the top 10 is freaking fast in the MXGP. U will see it on the nations. Next weekend there will be a lokaal dutch race where some of the factory riders will come at the start to prep for Valkenswaard.
Can't wait for next weekend.
