Since we are stroking robbie in this thread.....I got to thinking of all the years I been around him racing....I can't remember one time when I've seen him purposely run someone high....take a guys front wheel out .....whip it in front of a guy he just passed...or any stuff like that. He just hauls ass and goes around people......I'm guessing he's done it, but I've never seen it. I've raced around him since the early 59th and Douglas days...

And he has beat Travis plenty at 59th and douglas
Hell I used to go there and practice during the week and the 90 min drive home at 11pm used to kill me

Fellas, Robbie is an Okie and his dad is some kinda uber Okie. If Robbie's arms would have fallen off his pop would have duct taped them back on and told him to quit whining. If Robbie was injured.....he was FUCKED up. He is stubborn as hell and tougher than sprung steel. I can still hear his dad yelling over his shoulder while elbow deep in an engine between motos..."don't you eat all those doritos, boy".

I talked to Austin's mechanic this morning. He was a little banged up, but physically fine. He is pissed at himself for throwing away a title, but he will be ready for the third moto.

He was asked that question on the podium after the 1'st moto. He said he has fun riding a 125. And that was really it. Had a huge smile from ear to ear.

Years ago, Robbie told me that he actually liked the power and handling of the Cannondale. Then came the "but", which was that they basically fall apart when riding one. Plus, I would imagine that R&D probably didnt involve any test rider in the preliminaries that could push the bike to it's limits like Robbie.

I worked with cannondale bikes for 12 years. If there was company that could pull it off i thought they could have. The early usa made bikes, components and design work were unreal. It just didn't transfer over to the moto project. I think they bit off way to much to early.

Hats off to Robbie!
Reading this just made it all that much better. Dude's a legend in my eyes. If you guys mountain bike, come check out St Crispin's in Seminole. #1 ranked trails in the state. I told Robbie about them a few years ago when I saw him at a mt bike race. roll on!

In a sport where family relationships sometimes go south, it's refreshing to see the two continuing to make life long memories.
Robbie's sister (Cherie) used to post here (or possibly on Mototalk, I can't quite remember). She was a very friendly member of the MX community, and family was clearly - and rightly - of huge importance to her. Cherie's response to a message I posted about taking our elder daughter (then aged about 3) to her first MX event was heart-warming.

Watching RR tear it up at LL's this week has been a real pleasure.

For me he is the smoothest rider Ive ever seen in person. His style and flow seems effortless and he makes it look like hes barely moving but he's flying on the track. Even more than that, Robbie is one of the nicest riders ever.

I actually thought that also as I typed that. Only did because I didn't want to deal with all the Trolls around here that would want to argue who is the smoothest.
