Air show or motocross race?

For the first time in 6 years, the blue angels are back for the air show in my state. I'm not sure if air shows are a big deal where you guys live, but here in Alaska, thousands upon thousands of people go every two years when it is held. We're kind of a big military state anyway. I haven't been to an air show since I was a kid and I have to admit that I'm actually a little bit excited! Today is the final day of the weekend show.

Problem is there is also a local mx race today, and it looks to be a beautiful day for one. No rain so far. I haven't raced in at least a month (or even been on my dirt bike, for that matter), so it'll make me feel guilty if I miss this one, because the next one isn't til mid-August and it'll certainly be raining then.

I'd feel guilty missing the air show, though, too. They don't happen very often. You might say, "watch the show from the track!" But they are unfortunately about as far away from each other as they can possibly be within the same city. I'd only hear them. And they're happening at the same time. It's one or the other.

Very tough decision. What would you do?

I'd go to the air show unless it was a pro race which would be fucking badass now that I think about it to have a national in Alaska

We never have nationals up here. Ever. Just a pipe dream.

Moto races are much more common then every 2 years. Air shows are awesome, I can't wait to attend the next one!

In the circumstance you described, I'd go to the airshow personally. But you're in a win-win, ha. I'm spoiled, because the Blue Angels and a larger airshow are in my city every year. They alternate between giving it at the Naval Base one year and the next is at the Beach. It is TRIPPY to see it at the beach. The last air show also included the F-22 Raptor. Jaw dropping. If your show includes the F-22, I'd say your decision was made for you, haha.

Back in the day, we would get to watch an airshow between motos at the US round of the 500cc grand prix at Carlsbad.
Art Schol did the airshow and when he flew by at the end, he would stand outside on the wing.

Having been lucky enough to see the Cleveland Air Show while waiting to load, and for free, well, you know what MY vote is.

I can PROMISE you that watching the Blue Angels on youtube will have absolutely nothing in common with seeing them in real life.....you will not get the same effect as seeing/smelling/hearing/feeling them scream by.

I go to the airshow(s) to watch the military planes and choppers. Blue Angels and Snowbirds are great the first time but I'll take an AC130, Warthog, F-anything any day of the week. No lose either way.

You can "see" an air show on you tube, you only have so many opportunities to take a gate drop and "participate" in a motocross race. Just race, you'll feel better.

The closest we ever got was Bob Hannah coming up and riding on our shitty Jodphur track.

Btw my parents went to the air show to see the Blue Angels and said it was pretty cool. My dad is too old to race these days (needs a double knee replacement) so that was an easy choice for him.

I was dipnetting on the Kenai
