41. I'll be 42 in November and I've never raced more often (about 3 weekends a month), ridden better, been more fit or had more fun than I'm having now. Life is good.

54 Born in 1962. Saw OAS in the theatre when it first came out, and it gave a name to what I was already doing on my bicycle – Motocross. I walked out of that theatre like so many others, a changed kid.

Got an MR50 when they came out, progressed to an XR75 (and learned how to rebuild it from Wardys dad Jack), then a sleeved down Elsinore from Harrys Cycles Sales.

Started racing in 77 at Escape Country. Progressed to Saddleback, Indian Dunes and Carlsbad on a YZ100E then a YZ250G.

At 21 I broke my neck at an amateur Anaheim Supercross wore a halo brace for 6 weeks and quit riding altogether, until 19 years later I realized I was taking more chances big mountain skiing than I did racing and I’d finally had enough of spectating at Mammoth Motocross, started training, borrowed a YZ426 and have never looked back.

I’m doing jumps now and hitting stuff that I never even would have considered as a 20 year old pro, and I finally won my class at Mammoth in 2013 and got the bear, My biggest regret is the 19 yrs I spent on the sidelines.

I am the same age as Bob Hannah. He was faster when we were young.

Now? ... Who knows.

I like threads like this. No fighting or bitching. I know this may sound weird coming from a 49 year old, but damn, some of you old bastards are getting up there. Tongue

50..Started racing when I got my first bike at the age of 23, when I was out on my own. Parents wouldn't let me get one so I joined the service out of HS then got out and bought a Bike and a house..LMFAO!.
Got 8th place won my first race 4 races later. turned A class the next season.

Yes I was hooked, just wished I could have started younger think I really had a chance of making it work for at least my prime ages which weer long behind me by the time I got the hang of WFO!

57. Bought the first issue of Dirt Bike, saw On Any Sunday on the big screen, DeCoster and Hannah were/are my heroes. Love the sport, and after a 20 year absence I'm restoring a 78 YZ400 to go vintage racing.

47 All you guys my age answer me this??? Did your body start really deteriorating at about 40???? Thats the age that I couldn't crush a golf ball 300 yards anymore.....playing pickup basketball with18 to 20 to 30 year olds that were no problem in the near past became an exercise in futility.....perfect eyesight has turned to shit.......heartburn all the time, never remember even thinking about that before 40?? Haven't had a good nights sleep since 40 without the use of drugs......I don't feel all that good when I walk by a mirror anymore... Have all but given up racing Moto at this point but am starting to ride/race enduros, hare scrambles, and thank god I can still run a respectable pace on a dirt bike .But I do have a hot wife (at least I think so) and great kids along with all the money that I'll ever need, so thats something right????

For myself my warranty ran out last fall at 52 with a torn meniscus in my right knee then a severe groin pull now a fractured L5 Sacram and burst disk with sciatica pain to throw in. Have packed on 65 pounds due to lack of physical activity.

Wow this has been a fantastic response to my question :-) Many times I usually just read the first & last pages to a long thread (too busy in my day to read everything) but I really enjoyed reading everyone's brief post, thanks :-)

I will go through and total-up everyone's ages but it sure looks like quite a wide age spread, with the awesome 70's really kicking-off the love, dedication & enthusiasm for motocross.

40 and counting. Feel great. Moto at least once a week. I'll get back to you in 7 years. Only as old as your mind tells the body my friend. Really helps to have my son out there riding with me. My fountain of youth. Life is too short.

57. Raced the REM track with the oldtimers on Sunday. I felt 97 on Monday and 87 today. Should be able to move normal again just in time for the next race lol. I ride a YZ250 in the ultra competitive 50 novice class, if anyone's keeping track.

Thanks for your support. Really honoured that Tom White won the auction at Spreckels Theatre, the night of the premiere of Todd Huffman's great movie about Marty and the 1990 USGP.
This original now hangs in Tom's Early Years of Motocross Museum.
If you ever get a chance to go, grab it with both hands, you will not be disappointed............
Glad to do so Rob

43 for another month. Shit, wait, I think I'm 44. That was my honest thought process before doing the math. Man, these years seriously fly bye...

Started racing at Indian Dunes in 1975 at 3 1/2

Holy Cow Dan! We obviously spent many of the same Friday nights at Indian Dunes racing under the lights, then watching the fireworks go off at Magic Mountain!

55 here, still love to race!

Im going to be 58 next month. I feel like I'm 20 on my bike. I will race my 500 until I can't start it ( I'll get someone else to fire it up) then ride the wheels off it. Three hips replacements & still love riding these wonderful dirt sickles I will ride as long as I can still string a few laps together and have fun.
