Exactly! I just got a 500 steelie and had my first ride last week. I think the riding technique for me is going to be a lot like my 450f - throttle control! I can't wait to get to know it better in the coming months, and not have to watch the hour meter to worry about my next valve check or oil and filter change.

Back to the thread, man that says a lot about The Icon that we are still building bike replicas and tributes to him and that era Honda! I'd say the only other widespread replicas iareve seen are MC 96 bikes. Wonder if people will be piecing together Dungey replicas in 2047?

Dogger wasn't widely known for his Honda years.

Well, Service does make a Kx250-500af and when you think of moto and Kawasaki Wardy is the first name that comes to mind first and foremost (followed by Potto who never raced a Kx500). The Kx500af "Dogger" replica could be great with a little Dalmation spots here and there.

personally I think the fork boots are cool and a great idea for looks. Too bad they interfere with the fork action. I could envision some custom made lower fork guards that go completely around the lower legs 360 degrees, then the boots would attach to the tops. Color them silver. would be fun but a lot of work

Beautiful bike! I love it. I have an '02 CR with orange plastic, so I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the Honda wing graphics? Thanks!

People who don't understand what Service Honda offers probably financed a helmet and a years worth of insurance with their last dirt bike from the dealer at 27.1% for 60 months.

I was under the impression that most of us were the type of people that wouldn't even wonder why something like the AF conversions are cool. Why ,you ask? Hell, because you can and it would be fun ,to build and ride . Seems like enough reason right there ,then add to it that some guys are making money at it to boot .
Effin Eh! I love seeing these things. I can't justify the cash for one personally but I sure as hell wish I had the extra money to burn.

Why? Because a 450 is a turd without a turbo.
CR500s are better. Even better with a turbo.

I don't get it???? There are 125/250 2 strokes being sold which are engineered and developed, why pay extra $$ to wedge an modified engine into a modified frame just to stay the same color?

I'm not sure who is capable of racing a 500 2T other than a hillclimb or desert pro?
Oh man , if you haven't done it , you're missing out on an experience! I had the privilege of swapping bikes with my good buddy Kory at a race day at Washougal a couple times. I rode a 95' KX250 and he rode a 93' CR500. I raced INT and he raced Pro. I ran two classes and so did he on those days when the moto's didn't conflict.

And riding a well tuned CR500 , at Washougal , when the dirt was awesome , steam coming from the ground because the sun was coming out , and managing all that HP , with ultimate traction......it's what moto dreams are made of!

Now if I could re-live that , with a new 500cc motor stuffed into a newer Gen framed bike......who in the hell would NOT want to do that?

Seriously!

The Bailey bike could do with a fender brace on the front. I know strictly speaking that fender doesn't need one, but its part of the look. I'm just giving my 450 a Dave Thorpe RC500 style winter make-over and have modified a brace to work on the modern plastics-

Other than the blue on the number backgrounds being a tad too light for my taste, that is a thing of beauty. I have been going back and forth on whether or not to powder coat the frame red and paint my engine black on my CR500 conversion but I think this has made my mind up for me. What is the proper name for this shade of red powder coat?

AJ my brutha, that is a work of art!! my one and only small gripe is the shade of blue used on the # plates, its not quite dark enough.

Awesome works as usual!
