That really sucks, watching Eli ride is some next level stuff.
called torn rotator cuff the moment it happened and got flamed for it, sure hoped I was wrong. I'd much rather break bones, have had a similar damage but not so serious and that tock a good while to heal. Bummed for the kid

Some crazy lunatics in here. Not you guys.

There's what, 18 motos left? That's a lot of racing FFS

yes people probably are giving Ryan the trophy a bit early

apart from the 35 points behind I think the issue with Ken is how he dealt with the first couple of motos and in particular Hangtown....... we dont know much about this back injury of his and how it is going to affect him through the season

more to the point is that Ryan & Ken arent guaranteed anything........... touch wood there are no more injuries ....but we know that is unlikely to be the case .......... it may decrease the chances of injury by riding like RD5 instead of ET3 but it doesnt eliminate them

I blame this 100% on track Prep. There is no damn need for braking bumps as big as a small child, and ruts 2ft deep. They must rethink how they prepare the track in the mornings. That track had some of the squirrelliest ruts I've ever seen. I don't care to watch 15mph racing around half the damn track. There has been WAY to many Injuries for this early In the season. I'll be watching only the GP's from here on out.
Watch the replay of Roczen coming down the same section of track the lap after ET crashed. He takes an outside line there that is relatively smooth, whereas ET's line was right through the knarliest part of the track. It may have been a split second faster, and worked for him 99% of the time, but sometimes unfortunately riding on the edge like that can jump up and bite you unexpectedly. Everything these guys do is a calculated risk, and they are constantly trying to balance on the edge between risk and reward. To go as fast as he was, Tomac was really pushing that edge.

The worst news ET and the entire MX world could have gotten for the 2015 season.

Tomac is by far the fastest in the 450s and Webb is the only one who could have challenged Martin IMO.

No Tomac, Canard, Villo, Stewart, etc. No series!

250s Martin will crush unless he wads it up!

I have to think that this was a business decision though period. I am just guessing and I certainly don't know the complete doctors findings, but I'm sure that he has signed his Kawi deal!
Bumed for Eli.

Who are the (ect) have to be, rd5, kroc, bb ja?

Super disappointing given how great Eli was riding. Couple of thoughts:

I think the rougher tracks this year are a good change for the series. Our National tracks, while awesome, have become too similar in the types of dirt they offer and the level of grooming. I think this is an element of why Team USA have had their asses handed to them at the MXdN the last few years (that plus the absence of RV and Stew).

I really hope this series doesn't turn into an RD runaway. I'm pulling for Roczen to show some of his 2014 speed and at the very least keep things interesting. I'm also thinking that with one more contender out, this opens the door for Blake Bagget to snag a moto win or possibly an overall this summer. He was nowhere near Eli on speed, but he isn't far behind Kenny or Dungey and I think he'll only get better as it gets hotter.

I've always been a Honda guy and it sucks that even with top level guys like Eli, Trey and Cole they just CAN NOT catch a break when it comes to winning a 450 championship. Seems crazy it's been since RC in 03-04 that Honda has one a premier class championship. Now one more season where they'll miss out on the prize. If Tomac is indeed headed to Kawi next year that'll be another setback. I'm interested to see who they'll sign to fill the void.

i knew it was bad when he went down.

Tomac fell the same way that Wilson did when he took him out in SX.

Dungey is your 2015 Champion....he's the only on out there that uses his head.

I adore a rider who rides his heart out as fast as he can, everytime.

Lesson learned - What was Roczen thinking in SX when he tried to triple knowing he wasn't going to clear it. He could have double and singled and lost a position or two but he would not have hurt himself.

Lesson learned - Eli riding on the edge for 30min + 2...he has a long time to rethink his race craft.

In the past I never liked Dungey because he was boring and never let it all hang out...over the past few seasons I can see why. He's minimising his mistakes and along the way banking solid points at each round.

Championships are what count and I'm sure he is right up there with Carmichael, Stewart and Villopotto when you compare bank balances.
Be that as it may, but I stand behind my opinion.

I believe a Healthy Kenny is the only one over here with the speed to stay within a Few seconds of Eli... Problem is Dungey
can cruise for second if he wants to... losing 6 points per round & I can't see Kenny winning out... Only other with that
kind of speed outdoors is Canard...

Anderson... Barcia... Bagget... Seeley... Anderson... Peick maybe able to finish 30 seconds to 1 minute behind...

Damn....Eli rode at the same level as RC. Hate to see him out for the season. Dungey and Roczen are just too smooth for the rest of the class at this point.

That's right.

I was amazed when he got right up and had the sense to get off the track.

Tough dude.

Attention Brake Baggett and Bam Bam Barcia -> PLEASE show up this weekend and quit screwing around racing for 5th, somebody needs to give K-Roc and Dungey a run for the money.

I don't understand the attack on 'rough' tracks.
Tomac crashed in braking bumps.
Webb apparently tipped over on the slowest corner of the track.
Rv looped out on a straightaway.
Roczen in Atlanta mistimed a rhythm section that's been standard for at least a decade.
Canard got landed on.
I don't have the pulse on every crash out but this top 5 list doesn't have much to do with tracks.
When bikes are mid 60's in HP, having a diminished mental capacity is going to be more of a factor than in the past.

Agreed. Tbh i think its how much you twist the throttle and override ? What if Eli just backed down the pace just a little bit instead of attacking the track when he got a quite comfortable lead already. These guys are hauling ass but like RC said about James if Stew slowed down just a tad he would probably have won more than he did.

I Admire dungey for being smart. yeah he can have close calls too but honestly its motocross its always on the edge but over the finding that fine line is something dungey master the best!

Roczen is improving each moto, he was faster last weekend and at GH. Dont write the #1 off yet.

Dungey has been my favourite rider since I got to meet him at Washougal in 07, but I really liked seeing Eli doing so well after coming back from injury, I hate to see him hurt again, hope he recovers 100 % and comes back with the same blistering speed!

What a bummer!!!!!!! Another example of what a miracle it is any of these guys can make it through a season in one piece.....MX is an f-ing brutal sport period!
Heal up Eli, you're young and there are championships in your future.

High speed compression damping - the shock kicked the bike sideways instead of absorbing the square edge hole.

High speed damping relates to the rate of the shock compression, not the motorcycle.

I'm really bummed since watching him this year was amazing. I was interested to see if anyone could match him as the series progressed. That being said, I hope Eli can learn more from this than RV or Stewart did for his own sake. For my sake? I do like an all or nothing mentality in a racer.

my close friend broke both arms a couple years ago... must have been hell as a 30 year old man getting your ass wiped by your wife

Man this completely sucks. No Eli, nothing new and exciting... Eli is no doubt one of my favorite riders. No Trey. No James...

Hope Ryan and Kenny get into some epic battles. Maybe Barcia can find what he's looking for, would make for some fun races to watch anyway.

I'm still into the MX season and watching it regardless but, damn.
