steveada Added a reply to Are dealer “freight” fees legit?

I agree. The manufacturers get their money, while basically leaving the dealers blowing in the wind. If I was a dealer I'd be more upset with the OEM's practices than at customers not wanting to pay what can seem to be ridiculous fees.

Here's how I see this whole issue. The whole business model for selling things like cars and motorcycles is set up to put the dealerships and customers in an adversarial relationship. To begin with there is the historical practice of setting an unrealistically high price, expecting the customer will haggle the price down to a realistic number, thinking he is...

Have some great memories of DT. My kids learned to ride there and we spent many many weekends camping out and riding there as they were growing up. It had a great vibe with the majority of people there riding bikes, with a fair number of quads as well. Mike the owner could be great, like when they had a...

I think shootouts and reviews are most important for the first sale. However, one thing I didn't see mentioned was just brand loyalty. How many guys do you know that just keep buying red, or blue, or green, or orange regardless of what reviews say or racing results are? This can be due to perceived quality of the brand, customer...
I think he should have been given a dnf. Riders make unintentional mistakes at every race that put them out of contention. This is no different. If you make a mistake, go down, and put yourself out of a race, it doesn't matter if you go 1,1 in the next two motos. You made a mistake, and even though you...
Your first paragraph makes no sense. What value is there in looking at the rate of injury in people who don't have a crash? That is like saying a study about the effectiveness of a cancer treatment medication is not valid because it doesn't include data on how well it works in people who don't have cancer. Your second paragraph...
It looked like that EMS service covers a lot of LL qualifiers and other races where there is a high number of youth riders. From what I see at the track there is a much higher percentage of youth riders who wear neck braces, so maybe that is skewing their numbers.
I don't think you are looking at the data correctly. First of all, both riders with a neck brace, and without a neck brace who crashed and walked away were not included in the study. This is impossible data to collect, and would be impossible to evaluate. What they looked at were crashes where there were forces involved significant enough...

What good is a silent, non-CO emitting bike when you have 50 generators droning on in the parking lot to charge the batteries? Also, there is a huge number of riders that are out riding trails, not an mx track. The bikes are not practical if your idea of riding is hours cruising trails instead of a 15 minute moto...

steveada Added a reply to Atlanta sx question

I think they are calling the pit party the "fanfest" this year. For Atlanta they say "FanFest will be held outside in the Home Depot Backyard...Come Join the Fun!". This is right outside the stadium. I do not know if that means the pits will not be open, or that they will be pitting outdoors this year.

Our sport is so small that we don't really have the numbers to fully separate out the upcoming superstars from the weekend warrior. Personally I think that is OK, and kind of cool when you think about it. If some family wants to go all in with fully built bikes, full time training etc then they are going to do...

1. Claiming rule: the problem with the current claiming rule is not necessarily that it is taboo, it is that more than one person can claim a bike. make it so the first person to claim a bike gets it. That way the friends or other teams with a huge investment in their bikes can't join the claim, get the...
