If my memory is correct, He was involved with one of the greatest threads ever back on motonews. The legendary seat-bounce thread, The reason i now read moto forums lol.

He was an inspiration to me. An engineer that walked away from the field to join the moto circus. I sit in my cube every day scheming up ways to do it. But I'm just not the man he was. He was great.

I am saddened by the news. I really hope someone does a thorough writeup of the stamp he left on this earth and motocross community.

I never met the Steve in real life, just added and chatted with him some on facebook. He lived an inspiring life, no doubt, and will continue to live on inside the hearts of those who knew him. I have always admired his intelligence, and ability to seemingly rule at everything he does. Seriously, from dominating motocross photography to working at NASA just blows my mind.

Reading this forum, it is so cool to hear what a personable individual he was to others; whether you were someone on the MXdN team, a noob getting into photography looking for pointers, or even someone he split hairs with online. That kind of social warmth is a rare trait in this world today. Not to mention, the stories of how much he cared for his friends through his actions. To have such kind words spoken as the ones in this thread are one of the top honors any human can accomplish in a lifetime.

Feels kinda like the "Big Chill" reading this thread.....makes me miss the good old days of the Country Club and the Drive.....

Godspeed TFS... I will miss our lengthy physics talks. While you pressed me hard to be a AI rider in one of the MX games, I'm glad we gave you a spot via your sticker likeness. Many things you were the first and that goes for the first and only photographer to make it into a videogame. Your likeness is forever enshrined in the game.

Take care buddy. You will be missed by many and I thank you for the mark you left on the sport and importantly on me.

If there is such a thing as a Motocross Journalist Hall of Fame, Steve Bruhn needs to be in it for the path he carved.

This world needs MORE people like Steve! Truly a generous individual. He could stand his ground on what he believed in and could argue to the end with you in disagreement. But he would be the first to offer you advice and lend you a hand and help you up if you needed it. TFS will be missed by many. You made a solid impact to us motoheads in more ways than you could ever imagine. Rest quietly my friend.

R.I.P. Teefus. I pray comfort and peace for his family and those close to him. He was on the edge for sure.

WOW. That is very sad. I knew Steve well years ago when we both moderated Moto Talk/ Moto News. We drifted apart and I haven;t spoke to him in years. I don't post on many websites anymore but I had to make an exception for this. Steve left his mark in this industry and he will be missed. RIP my friend.

I'm sad to hear this.

Steve was an interesting character. Naturally curious, always willing to play devil's advocate, and man did he love stirring the pot.

At various time he helped me with photo passes, helped me out with digital camera advice, and let me try some of his gear, and even sold me some of his old equipment a time or two. I'd like to think that I helped him with some Photoshop advice.

He was also a willing adventurer, and tried to advance the way the sport was covered and viewed.

Godspeed, Steve.

Very sad to wake up to this...I first met Steve a few back at one of the Nations and he was one interesting chap and always had some cool stories to tell.

This is heart breaking...we didn't agree on much, but I always respected Steve's intellect and passion. I have great respect for the efforts he made to become a healthy man which is why this feels like such bullshit. Im so sorry Steve. You didn't deserve to go out like this. Such a loss to the industry and the world.

1. I want to go to Italy this year and see the dome on the Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. Look it up, amazing story.
2. I really like musical instruments, but I don't invest the time to learn them. I bought myself a Bach pro trumpet, but due to a moto crash that crushed a bone in my right hand, I'm struggling with it.
3. I had to learn to eat again after my dr figured out my messed up system in mid 2007. I still only eat about 8 different things, and only add something very carefully.
4. I went to first and second grade in Germany.
5. I wasn't ever going to get married, but did so in 1987 so my girlfriend Grace could fly free (airline job). We split in 1991 but are very close friends.
6. My favorite place to camp or get away is the Sierras north of Fresno and south of Yosemite.
7. My health has absolutely sucked since 1985, but I try not to look back or whine about it. I'm quite fine right now but it's expensive to maintain.
8. I taught Lotus123 and accounting at a career school at night about 1990 to get extra money to buy a YZ250. I didn't even know accounting! I had to learn it real fast.
9. I wish I would have thought of this website, it's excellent.
10. My role model in college was Doug Malewicki, the famous engineer/inventor that came up with "Robosaurus," and a long list of amazing things. He's on Facebook too!
11. I was in the student senate at CSU Fresno for three semesters, and ran for student body president (almost won!). Scary huh?
12. My college part-time job was remote sensing for a NASA project. We pointed instruments at plants for a JPL study.
13. I have been to Jerusalem twice because I went to Israel for work.
14. My most un-planned job was managing a buffet restaurant that seated 300 people. It was southern cooking-salt and grease.
15. I ate a scorpion in Singapore. It tasted like a potato chip.
16. I used to be into political street theater, and was invited to a student leadership conference to speak on how to stir a campus up
17. In 11 years of shooting moto, I was only hit by a bike 3 times. The best was during the night show in Minneapolis in front of a huge crowd. They cheered, I waved back, but was pretty shaken up. It wrecked my camera too.
18. I did propulsion engineering for airlines for about 10 years total, the last was a "tape and glue" engineer to keep planes flying.
19. When I interviewed last May to work at the Marshall Space Flight Center, no one told me to get a haircut!
20. I hate onions so much, I want to invent a way to make them disappear. Can you get in trouble for assassinating a vegetable?
21. I want to finish my work years in the space industry. It's hard but very cool.
22. For several years, I was one of those lane-splitters on a street bike in LA. I once had a "BYE" sign on my luggage rack.
23. My first job was picking up paper on county roads in Alabama.
24. I used to be a Yamaha mechanic at a dealership and still have the tools.
25. About 1984/5, the Ethnic Studies Dept at CSUF voted to give me their annual "Rosa Parks Award." It's says "leadership" on the plaque but I think it was really for stirring things up.
