Just wondering if anyone has a good memory or story how they landed there first bike?
I was 10 yrs old and had been pestering my parents for a motorcycle all yr. Well Xmas was approaching so I figured this was my chance. Christmas eve came and I (being a only child) just knew in the morning I would have a nice shiny motorcycle sitting next to the tree. WRONG!!!!!!.
I wake up, run to the living room and nothing but wrapped boxes! Heart broken I attempt to hold my composer as best as I could being 10yrs old. My parents tell me to open the cards from family members first, I thought that was strange. I open the first card and it says go to the garage! Bingo pay dirt, get to the garage and low and behold...........another eff'n card. This card has money in it and says go to the shed. At this point I'm beside myself!
So I set off to the back yard with hopes of seeing my destiny. Well guess what no motorcycle just another card and a new bicycle. Now the tears are rolling the last card said Merry Christmas and go back to the living room. I was done Christmas was a wash.
I get inside and turn the corner and what do I see? A new 1984 XR80!!!!! I just about shit myself, I had literally lost all composer by this point. The tears we're rollin and could'nt believe my parents would pull this sick twisted joke on me lol. At the time it felt like mental abuse lol.
Anyways while I was running all over the house/yard my dad was rolling it from the bedroom to the living room. They wanted to make sure they could get it from point A to B without me running back in hence the treasure hunt.
Anyone else have any good stories/memories?

Then Dad bought me one of these, a 1981 YZ 60.

In 1988, after three or four years of bugging my parents, my dad finally gave in and bought me a second hand, PW80 for about £300 ($470) - however this was strictly on the basis that I sign a document typed up by my grandad with which I promised never to ride a bike on the road when I was older, or he would cut me out of his will, ha! No shit. As a retired headmaster he had seen too many past pupils seriously injured or killed and was vehemently against motorbikes.
Had some fun times on that PW80 and a bunches crashes too!
Well, Christmas 1985 came around and I opened all my presents. Wasn't expecting a motorcycle because mine was in storage. But my first present was a pair of Kawasaki gloves. Next was some green Scott Goggles followed by a new white with green accents FX helmet. My last gift ended up being a Hi-Point Kawasaki jersey. At this point I was confised because I had a Honda. Our only shop in town was S&S Kawasaki/Suzuki but still, why get me Kawasaki stuff when I rode a Honda? I wasn't stupid enough to ask though because I was rasied to appreciate things and not be rude. So we all finish opening our presents, sit down to a nice breakfast, and I proceeded to go put away my toys and stuff from the morning haul. Mom asked me to take out the trash and I didn't want to. She insisted I do it so I grabbed the bag and walked it to the garage door and left it there. About 5 minutes later my mom and dad walk in my room and ask me if I took out the trash. I told them I took it to the garage door and I'd put it in the cans later when I went outside. They said for me to put it in the can now and not to wait. I pitched a fit I'm sure, but I moped down the stairs and grabbed the bag. Walked out to the trash can, put the bag in, turned around and saw a brand new 1984 KX 60 sitting in the garage! It was snowing but I didn't care. Made dad load up and take me to the field to ride that day. A few months later I raced my first race at Pyramid Valley in Lost Creek, WV. That was the spring of 1985. I raced the 60 class and was the only rider so I raced with the 80's. I was so scared of one part of the track that they let me cut it out completely. My last race was in the Summer of 1996 just before I left for college, 250/Open A at Hardeeville, SC.

First MX bike was 4 years later at an auction. It was during the MC on Yamaha days so I wanted to go from Honda to Yamaha. Got outbid on a 2000 YZ 125 so we had to settle on a 99 KX 125. Been on green ever since.

Go big or go home.
Notice the safety equipment.
In '75 I got a Honda MR50.
After reading everyone's post I can say I am a noob.
My mum, (mom for you Americans), and dad are from Belgium but had no interest in bikes even though they would see "The Man" on the news and later my uncle went out with Sabine, (later Andre Malherbes wife)...
It was Christmas day and in the lounge room—there it was—my spanking new pink and white PW50.
My older brother wanted a bike when he was younger but dad could not afford one.
When he was a able to get together some cash, he went hunting for his very own dirt cycle with my brother-in-law, (who had ridden bikes before, but nothing more than old PE's and similar junkers), but he thought he knew his shit.
My brother ended up with this.
He then bought one of Paul Timmins old hondas and later a new 92 Slingshot.
