Yeah, everything else seems to be there although I haven't broken it down yet, building it when I get home from work today. I did call the local dealer and they have no idea when they'll get any parts for them, they just have their demo bikes for now.
First world problems here... I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, it's just unfortunate. I'm sure when I'm putting this smokin hot bike together later and marveling over the engineering and quality I won't be thinking much about the phone/display.
Just crazy kiwis doing their thing
It still is annoying to have that happen. I guess it will be good to find out how responsive Stark is for regular customers who have a bike in their hands. So far it seems like any issues get resolved quickly. But as more bikes are out in the wild, I imagine that might be harder to do. Please post back with your experience.
And for the Varg deniers ,I'm not saying that I expect Vargs to all have issues. Just never know what can happen outside of Starks control. Or in life in general. Stuff like this damaged packing and missing item.
Honda could benefit from licensing Stark's patents.
The Shop
Bloody Hell, I hope Starks KYBs have a Lot of the chrome fork tube showing when fully bottomed!
The KYBs I've dealt with, at full bottoming, leave just few Millimeters of the chromed leg from the axle lug showing .
Those clamps look to be say, at least 20mm in width / height, and Not 'lipping' over to also clamp on the lugs. They even seem to have been fitted with part of the leg showing, between the clamp and lugs.
Unless those KYBs are different to all the recent ones I've worked on, , and / or they've a travel reducer that limits the bottoming of the fork ( that they chose not to show, for brevity?) , but, if not, those clamps are going to really give the upper legs an impact.
Hey, it might have been a rushed / not edited to show correct fitment part of the video, but I so often see so many f**k ups with so many 'trick' things.
Man that sucks. Is the bike ridable without the phone?
Jayden Archer is pretty happy with the Varg, it's already a weapon of choice for FMX
Just walked into my Local Honda/Husq dealership and there were 2 Starks on display! nice looking bike the guys at the shop said they can get me one by January.
Today's update...
Dear Customers,
we understand the frustration caused by another delay on your order, and we sincerely apologize.
Unfortunately, we are facing some unforeseen regulatory handling delays in some states among them yours.
These delays are beyond our control and are tied to state and government regulations where timeframes are sadly not according to their indications.
We are very close to start delivering in your area and will give you an update again in 3 weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
You can reach us at any time

Best regards,

Not great news, But at least it is communicating and letting people know the reason. Still a bummer for the people waiting. Thanks for posting that info.
What a bummer.
So it's easier to sell all over Europe than it is to sell in every state in the US? And to think it's not even a road bike, what fresh hell is this?
dam thats crazy…
also sounds pretty made up as there have been multiple orders delivered to CA that I’m aware of. Not sure what state you’re in.
I got this as well. My estimate ship date is mid November. They also won’t let me prepay until requested. I’ve asked if I can ship to a different state that they’ve already sent to, waiting to hear back.
I received the same email. My first thought was it must be just California.
There could be a certain number of bikes that after You have X amount you now have to meet a certain regulation or file another form.
That may explain why Stark is advertising on Linkedin to add to their legal department...
It is, CE certification covers all of Europe, the US as a hodgepodge of regulations.
His profile say MI
Pit Row
Looks like Michigan has a law against selling vehicles directly to customers:
http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(gcjm2uja5thfqunklcsgd0bj))/mileg.aspx?page=GetObject&objectname=mcl-445-1574#:~:text=(i)%20Sell%20any%20new%20motor,or%20local%20government%20or%20agency.
Who does the law protect?
Dealers
Vehicle dealers and real-estate agents are some of the biggest lobbying groups in the US.
Yes it is dumb.
Business before citizens, the American way!
I will say the direct to customer Tesla buying experience was amazing, and hope to never have to buy another vehicle from a dealer (although it doesn’t look promising for buying a truck any time soon with that model).
'Limited access' is pretty much code for ; Tesla is exempt
I believe this is a 20-21 map, may differ in some states currently.
Still pretty weird given that a Stark Varg is a non-licensable machine.
I don't think this is the issue because a friend of mine in Colorado received the same message, and based on that map it should not be a problem there.
I've never even heard of laws prohibiting the sale of a vehicle directly to the consumer, that's the biggest load of BS I've ever seen.
Update: My bike actually arrived a few weeks ago. I have been out of town, so I have yet to actually take it out of the crate. I believe its the first or one of the first customer bikes in Georgia. It was apart of the shipment that got air freighted.
While I didn't quite believe the email they just sent. The call I just got from the local dealer here that has 3 demo bikes, appears their regulatory issues might be true. The dealer was calling to ask if I wanted a bike as Stark just informed them that production slots just became available and delivery should be before the end of the year.... if that is actually true, that is WILD. This is coming from a sales manager at this dealer so take that with a grain of salt, but they were required half of the purchase price now to order it.
I really hope that isn't true. If they actually start selling bikes via dealer before all the preorders get filled there are gonna be people out side their factory with pitch forks. lol
The laws barring direct to consumer vehicle sales was based on the notion that the manufacture would be competing for sales against franchised dealers...which is a pretty dumb reason imo.
Tesla lobbied HARD to get laws amended. As shown here: https://www.wispolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/State-Laws-on-Di…
Many states have bans on direct customer sales, but then have been amended to specifically allow Tesla to do it.
The reason Tesla lobbied for it so hard is because there is another law stating that a manufactures must supply parts and repair information to dealers who sell the product...
In Arkansas, laws protecting dealers are pretty stiff. Dealers are allowed territories and if one encroaches on another in any way shape or form it can get pissy. I've even had dealers butt heads because one showed up at a race outside their territory with a dealer logo on their pickup truck
On the Stark dealer map I've noticed their are no Stark dealers in Arkansas.
What do you mean if? They already are. It could be the best bike ever built but I wouldn’t buy a pencil from these clowns.
It must be great to own the politicians, so you can have a monopoly!
I'm surprised no body has challenged the laws, they would breach Federal anti trust laws.
