RIP SHERIFF. Such a badass, and one of the kindest people on earth, he’ll be missed.
The moto world lost another great guy. I had the pleasure of spinning some wrenches for Josh early in his career. He was quite a character with a HUGE heart. His spirit and kindness will be missed by many. God speed my friend.
Dammit!
Absolutely gutted to hear about this. Enough so to resurrect a long dormant account to add my memories and prayers for JD and his family and friends.
I first met Josh through Jason Thomas when both were riding for the ill-fated Excel Yamaha team. I'd known JT since he was like 11, arranged for some gratis bikes for him to race in Florida and beyond -- I was buds with Fast Frank, he handled my suspension service work and was a really really good (albeit grumpy) friend back when.
A couple years later, found myself manager and event director for the national Arenacross series, and hung around with Josh -- along with the other hey day AX irregulars -- quite a bit.
Last time I saw him, he saw me first at some money race at Wichita Jeeps. Who's this bear hugging me from behind?
Hadn't seen the kid in like 6 or 9 years, and he greeted me like a lost brother. This was shortly before his leg accident, and he crushed the locals that night. Thereafter, Josh and his dad and I crushed a lot of beers in the pits. 'Twas like old times.
He was a great guy. Fabulously talented, as pretty a man as you'd ever want to see, and although a bit loose at times absolute salt of the earth material.
Godspeed my old yet young friend.
Gutted,
steveyd
Such a bummer to hear.. RIP JD. Prayers for his family and friends during such a horrible time.
Remember him ripping at the fair races in the mid western summers. Best wishes to Josh.s family and friends. Super cool to watch him race.
Wow, this is bad news to hear, Josh was a great guy, back in the late 90's or early 2000's he spent part of one summer up here in Western Mass, While he was here he came to one of our local sandpit practice tracks to ride on a regular basis. I got to talk to him a lot between motos, Such a cool guy. He was fun to watch ride, wicked fast and smooth.
He will be missed, RIP Josh
Here are a couple photos of Josh from the 2003 Worcester Arenacross
Damn, super bummed to hear it. He gave me a pair of goggles once when he was on that Excel team and I was a huge fan ever since then.
Never really followed him or his career but reading the comments here and on Facebook reminds me to be a better man and friend to all. The things people say about his character and life are what we all should hope to have said about our lives...our "legacy".
RIP and condolences to Josh Demuth and his family.

Legendary guy, RIP!
He seemed like literally a rockstar when he raced up in Canada. Such a talent!
Got a call about this earlier, hated to hear it. Great guy, we are going to miss him. Rest in peace.
Bummer to hear. Met him a few times through a mutual friend. The guy was a sweetheart in person and an absolute savage on the motorcycle. RIP Sheriff
Josh was a great human being.
He spent a lot of time at our track, and he was always so nice and easy to deal with.
Thank you Josh for what you gave us, GODSPEED sir, and I hope you're rest is in peace.
This is heart breaking. I never met Josh , but a few of my old riding buddies knew him from the past , and all I ever heard was how much of a cool dude he was. Damn , the moto community lost a really good one here. RIP Josh , and condolences to all his family and friends.
Pit Row
I first met Josh and his dad when he was racing 125 B in MAMA and ended up sponsoring him.
Josh and his family were always kind and respectful.
Sad to hear of his passing.
I remember the ladies! He had a thing for them and they seemed to reciprocate.
How did he pass away?
R.I.P to another Moto brother.
RIP Josh
Never met the guy, only ever saw him race on tv
another taken too soon
Pretty stunned by this all, forgive my memory, but I’ll try to recall…. First met Josh and dad Randy(?), when Josh was on 80’s, think he came over to Ohio/D-11 from Pennsylvania…. Anyway, super nice kid and absolutely a wild man on the track, extremely fast and when he crashed, he went big. He’d jump anything. Visited him at least twice in the hospital, I think…Next thing I know, he’s 14, lanky and racing A class, and killing it ! One day, at a local track, he’s 16 and his dad tells me he’s gonna race Indy Supercross next weekend. I tell him there’s no way, he’s got an arm cast on, AMA won’t let him race. Dad says we gonna cover that up, Josh badly wants to compete….And then, one day he moves to Texas, think because Randy’s career (?) anyhow, we’d see each other here and there, of course he had the famous relationship with Leticia…. Last time I knew he was selling Harleys…chatted with him n dad at Dallas SX in ‘17. Anyway, my condolences to his family and friends, simply a lovely human - was our Josh.
Man that's a shame, we got to hang out with him and some of the bookoo guys in 06 or 07 at a bar in rochester, mn before the national. Definitely a rockstar and was a super nice guy. RIP.
Bummed to hear this. RIP Josh, gone way to soon.
RIP Josh.
Wow he had 4 kids as well. Though's kids and his wife had a real special dad. Josh had a strong faith as well and hope he's up showing God how to do whips of the table top clouds!
