All the bad air quality currently going on from the forest fires think it might potentially have an effect on upcoming races?
Say what?
hopefully mx rewind is on
we are blanketed with smoke here in NY from the said 6.7 million acres on fire in Canada
The Shop

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
I'm in CT and it's bad here, we're currently at 167 for air quality, Unadilla is way lower - around 60. It's supposed to be much better after Wednesday as well. See you there!
That sucks, hope it rains. Other then being a little thin, air Quality looks good in Denver, Thunder Valley.
Denver was blanketed in Canadian smoke a couple weeks ago. Fresh, clear air now though.
157 air quality in nicohls,Ny. Rt now. I blew a brake chamber on the trl. It blew in a rest area here. I talked to the old man that works here. He said you couldn’t see the rd earlier. Still smoky tho, see pic. I get real sick from this air. Head is pounding & sinuses r so bad my ears hurt. Don’t the Canadians hv a fire dept ? 2 1/2 weeks ago Wi. Was bad too. And 3 yrs ago from Canada
Out here…it’s not really summer…yet…(today in the Eastern Sierra). I hope this weather holds out. It makes for epic riding.
Reminds me of the big fires during Covid when Canada refused to allow the US air tanker support to help them fight the big fires due to “health concerns”
SmokingJoe is worried about fumes.
Did a bicycle road ride yesterday, I could feel my lungs burning…😂
We are at 190 right now in the DMV Area. (DC, MD, VA)
It's super super hazy
I travel to Canada quite frequently and if you've ever been there, you'll notice these huge swaths of reddish brown trees. These ones are completely dead and dry, because of an infestation of Pine Beetles and these are gigantic forest fires just waiting to happen. Funny! thing is, I never see Pine Beetle infestation in Oregon and Washington, but hop across the border and you'll see those red trees everywhere in British Columbia. I don't know if they spray for these insects in the United States and not Canada, but it's a big problem, especially if they have a mild winter up there in Canada.

I'm in CT too. The smoky haze was crazy yesterday. This morning my truck(white) was covered with brown spots.
Not as bad but Charlotte is now in the Unhealthy category
The pine beetle decimated much of our forests in the Rockies. It hit us hard about 15 years ago. We’ve had really bad fires as a result as well but the past two years have been better it seems. Spraying was not practical as I understand.
I’m not a biologist but our forests appear to be really old and thick. If we don’t clean them up, Mother Nature will find a way to do it. Unfortunately it’s in the form of violent fires rather than smaller ones that were used to seeing.
We have them here in WA I just had to have the two Douglas firs in my yard. Insecticide put into them to try and stop them a couple months ago. Guy was calling them bark beetles.
Infested tree's will have multiple spots where tree sap is coming out. They drill at the bottom and put the Insecticide rods into the tree. And attach a pheromone thing that tells other beetles tree is over Infested go somewhere else.
Thankfully last year we didn't have the forest fire problem. But we had an unusually longer wettest spring on record.
Year before we got it and the air was so bad. The short walk from my office to the car. My eyes would burn slightly and you definitely wanted a mask.
Year before that they post poned the 125 dream race due to all the fires by a month. In '19 crap stuck around for 2 whole weeks. We're unusually very dry out here all ready could be a problem again.
Pit Row
I'm in CT heading to Rewind Friday. I hope the air quality improves
It is really bad here. This is the actual yellow color at the moment. Supposedly it is supposed to be sunny right now. Visibility is reduced to about a mile. Air quality at the moment is 193. It was something in the 220s last night. Not the most pleasant to be outside.
The pine beetles have been moving south for some time now, we don’t get cold enough winters to kill them anymore. It’s only a matter of time before they cross the border.
Nichols,Ny. This morning looked similar. Calls& text lastnight til late this morning we found a shop. It sucks being stuck in it. 2-3 yrs ago the west fires where bad too. I think this air is worse tho. It gets me sick in so many ways, my stomach & intestines hurt like hell even . Conklin Ny. Is worse air than Nicohls- Tioga. Off to new Windsor NY. Next when I,m unloaded.
Beats NorCal September . . .
And people comment on James’ use of the English language during the broadcast.
Definitely not kind to the throat or stomach. I could not image how bad it is for people with respiratory issues.
The bark beetle has been one of the major catalysts in all the Northern California wildfires. That mixed with drought has been freaking terrible for years. (Knock on Wood)
In my local nat'l forest I think the tree mortality rate was 48-54% at the height of it. Mix that with the mismanagement of downed timber...
With all the smoke getting so close to D.C... maybe I'll leave politics out.
Honestly it's probably not any worse than the lingering smoke emitted from the burning vehicles and couches back in the 80's Una-F***n-dilla
Went for a trail ride on the 150 after work today.
It got dark in the woods wayyy earlier than normal. Fun ride!!
We lived through the Amazon dang near burning down a few years back and it was really bad. we been though shit like this before and in a few days it will all blow over.
Current conditions near me right now....
