You mean KTM? Just like in the 70's?
NO
Interesting discussion just yesterday about a 125 Penton
One of the funnest bikes I ever owned...and my first "real" race bike, was a green-tank Penton 125. I know it'll never happen, but it would be cool if it did.

They could bring back an old Penton kinda like CZ did in the late 80s with their 250 and 380 .
The rumors I am hearing about PENTON dirt bike for 2024
are very likely to happen.
Penton became KTM correct ? Is this a new manufacturer with the Penton name or another brand under the KTM umbrella ?
The other way around.
Penton didn’t become KTM. KTM basically absorbed Penton as Penton stopped purchasing bikes from them for the US market. Pretty sure that KTM actually bought the Penton brand name also, but I can’t think of them using it after beginning to import their own brand into the US.
Next thing you know Preston Petty will return and make a real fender for the YZF
Didn't know that . Thanks for the clarification.
That is Jack Penton the son of John Penton and he explained that KTM did not import the 125 into the USA so they rebranded it and brought it in as a Penton. Jack was an amazing speaker!
I recall a blue KTM, late '80's? Penton blue.
Sexy...but maybe you have to appreciate vintage 2-strokes to appreciate her "curves".
There was a blue jackpiner edition 2000 in 2000 I think.
That’s good, took me a minute 😎
The blue Jackpiner was a 1997 200. It had an Ohlins rear PDS shock. They only made 134 of them.

I wonder if it may be the Jotagas / G2 250/300 2t?
The last pictures I have of it are from 2021 - though I'm sure I saw some news of it in 2022.

Though I doubt that Pierer would sell the Penton name (if he indeed does own it) for less than a Very large sum.
For a while (I think it was ) one of the former US Gas Gas Importers was saying he would import / develop them further in the USA. In Europe they were going to be G2 (Jotagas), but America, Jotagas - not sure if the name was owned by the throttle company, or another manufacturer of something in the USA. Or, indeed, that they were going to be sold under another name entirely.
Thanks 👍🏻
I caught most of the John Penton documentary on MavTV a few weeks ago while channel surfing late one night. A fascinating story!
Rieju bikes are being built by the old Gasgas people. Is that the brand they became? Or is there another Gasgas off spring?
Back when KTM bought Gasgas they were still called Gasgas or Gasgas off road , something like that for a year or so. They were making and selling the off road bike that was the most recent Gasgas before KTM bought them . I believe it was the 2020 Off road model, but could be wrong. Then they rebranded to Rieju soon after. Mike Young distribution was the importer, they changed the name to CPD Direct and have a handful of other brands they import and distribute.
A shot in the dark but maybe Pierer Group wants to create a "Retro-Style" Motocross line up? Kinda like Yamaha has been doing with the XSR Series and Kawasaki with the Z650/900RS
Your post...or this thread?
Terry Everett, the OP in this thread, is the registeree of the Penton motorcycles TM in the US and has been on here teasing the same before.
Jotagas was a project started by one of the original GasGas partners (I can't remember his name) and they were set to be imported by a former GasGas USA importer (Clay Stuckey). Unfortunately, Jotagas has declared bankruptcy earlier this year and their future is unknown.
Rieju bought the production line and inventory of the "legacy" GasGas company from KTM and has been producing updated models of the 2018/19 GasGas line minus the trials bikes (that is what KTM wanted). The 2018 importer was Mark Berg (since roughly 2013, too). He morphed the import business into CPD and is now importing SWM (original Cagiva/BMW/Husqvarna), AJP, and Electric Motion in addition to Rieju.
It's possible that the group behind Penton purchased the inventory and intellectual property of Jotagas out of bankruptcy but I think it is more likely they would have gone the direction of Thumpstar or GPX and just copied an existing bike that is made in Asia somewhere.
Just my 2 cents.
The Jota in Jotagas was actually for 7 time trials world champ Jordi Tarres, one of the original founders with former enduro racer Miki Arpa.
Agreed regarding Jordi Tarres. The former co-founder of GasGas I was thinking of was Josep Pibernat. Josep was the head of Jotagas. Interesting article linked in below for those interested in some cool dirt bike history and the early development of the Jotagas 300 enduro.
