I have to play MX vs ATV Supercross because the newer games in the series have moved on the PS4. I think Supercross is as good as the series has ever been, at least once you add the factory chassis and the rest.

With all the negatives seen lately about Encore, is it worth getting a PS4 to play Encore? Did they devolve the physics to be more like Alive?

It would be cool to play the 2017 Supercross tracks today but if the physics are janky, not interested. If they're as good as MX vs ATV Supercross, however, I am. Advise?

I've got about a week back into it and i'm already over it . The bike bounces around like a ping pong ball and does dumb shit with no warning . Sometimes the bike will continue going forward off a jump while doing a whip, other time your efforts will direct you off the track in the air .The physics are just too unpredictable for me .

Im my opinion it's not worth it. I tried really hard to like that game after loving the series but it's way to much like an arcade game.

Thank you, that seals it. Sticking with MX vs ATV Supercross, just a shame there's no new tracks. =/

The physics are not like Alive because alive with the assists off, fully modified bike and scrub master perk on were the best physics of the franchise by far in my opinion. I thought Encore had the same physics as Supercross?

Ever since MXGP came out I've been out of the loop on MXvsATV though. I buy all the games and play them some just to support those guys but the MXGP games are miles ahead at this point. In my opinion MXGP2 is worth getting a PS4 for. Since the PS4 Pro is out now you can get a standard PS4 or PS4 Slim for under $300.

Well I bought the first MXGP game and it seemed really bad to me. I must be missing something. I couldn't even keep the bike on the track, and it felt heavy and slow for some reason.

It took me some time to get used it mxgp but I ended up buying mxgp 2 and I still play it I love the career mode in it I kinda just overlook the heavyness of the bike

The last good MX vs ATV game was Unleashed on ps2. That game was awesome. Everything that came after it blows. Get MXGP 2. The learning curve is a bitch but once you figure it out its decent. Whatever you do don't try block passing though.

If you like MVA Supercross, then you'll like Encore.

I wouldn't say that.

Untamed was the best ATV racing game ever made, the customization was amazing and being able to have parts from companies like Walsh and Baldwin added a huge cool factor. Plus it had tons of tracks both indoors and out.

Keep in mind I'm one of those wierdos that enjoys all forms of motocross no matter what people are riding.

Reflex was IMO the most technical. But it drew hate because you got taken out ALOT.

Alive had the best flow and some of the most difficult rhythms which made it a lot of fun.

Supercross and Encore missed the mark bigtime IMO

I have MXGP2 and have played it a ton over the past two weeks. I am bored with it and bought the new 2017 track edition MXvsATV today. Hopefully its close to the amount of fun I had with Reflex.

I will also sell my two week old, perfect condition MXGP2 for PS4 shipped anywhere in the 50 states for $20.

You have to play in first person with a manual transmission and the physics set to realistic (can't remember for sure if that's what they call the most advanced option). You can't play like MXvsATV either. It plays more realistically but, again, being in first person view is crucial in my opinion.

I don't mean to turn this into a MXGP thread. I just meant that whether you're interested in Encore or not, there is another moto game that is worth getting a PS4 to play.

MXGP2 is fun once you learn it, and like Juice_Mann said it takes a while but it is fun after the stage of getting last place every race because you keep crashing for no damn reason.

I like encore for what it is. It's more of an arcade game with dirt bikes I feel. The physics feel better than the original supercross in my opinion. I still think it's worth getting beacuse it's a game I could play and not take to serious.

Difference of opinion I guess. I think Untamed is the worst motocross game ever made. I didn't like Reflex either because the track deformation system was flawed and if you so much as looked at a toughblock wrong the bike would automatically do a front flip.

I was all about getting these tracks for Encore, but then A1 came of for MX Sim and I decided it would be a waste of money although it's only $20. I'd never play it.

As it turns out, dirt bikes are actually pretty heavy and slow. I think they nailed that part of it.

Except they aren't. They are actually the epitome of mankind in the strive to go as fast as possible over uneven terrain.

They have ridiculous power/weight ratios and MXGP does a poor job of making the bike feel light. It feels 400lbs.

X2, When I started playing I was dead last every race and by the end of the day I was comfortably winning on medium.

You have a good point, but if you want to compare the "feel" of a dirt bike in MXGP 2 vs Encore there really is no comparison. Encore is terrible at just about everything.
1/7/2017 1:14pm
I think the Encore physics are slightly better than that in the regular Supercross. I've downloaded Anaheim 2017, and honestly, it's not that great. It just doesn't feel like it flows very well. But I'm not sure what the rest of the tracks will be like. I also have MXGP 2 and go back and forth between the two games. I love the cornering in MXGP 2 and, well, pretty much everything that is on the ground. But I wish you could scrub and whip like in MX vs ATV Supercross. If only someone were to combine the two and have the actual teams like MXGP 2 and the in air physics of Supercross, I would be really happy.

But to answer your question, I don't think it's worth buying a system for just one game. I did that years ago when I bought a PS3 for Gran Turismo and it was just a huge waste of money. Unless you're going to buy more games for it, I would stick with your PS3.

Or, if it's something you don't mind spending money on, you could build a gaming PC and then get the games slightly earlier than everyone else. Also, there's a pretty good mod for MXGP 2 that puts all of the AMA teams in it and alters the first person view so the speed looks better. And then you could try games like MX Bikes and MX Simulator. I know people like to bash games and say one sucks and the other is superior, but to me each one has it's own special place and thing I enjoy. And the more motocross games I have access to, the better.

I agree with everything this guy said apart from I think reflex was/is great and alive was okay once you got used to it.
I played unleashed on my ps2 the other day and it's still fun as hell, kind of miss when you could just jump on and play rather than having to figure out the physics of a game.
But Ye I have supercross encore and mxgp2 and honestly I was really disappointed with encore, it's crap compared to the rest of that series, the bike either won't turn or spins out and a dab of clutch gives bikes superpowers so they can fly 100ft of a jump with a 3ft run up. Mxgp2 has manual gearbox, independent front and rear brake and makes you really learn to ride the bike, you need to lean more front to back than left to right compared to mx vs atv and first person view helps a ton, get used to it and you'll love it!

How good does a trophy truck cut through tight turns, trees, etc.?

I want to play mxgp2 but it just looks so slow and floaty. the sound is super bad too. 1st person might be better but I have never liked using it in other games. maybe if I see it cheap, ill try it.
hopefully one or both of these developers make a game that is a must play. for now encore is a decent winter fix.gravel sliding sound drives me crazy. feels like your on top of an ice rink. so many little issues they could fix thru a patch/update. world of tanks does this constantly. so much detail with adjustments for every tank. imagine all those settings, packages on a bike. actual user settings for terrain, track. its already being done just not on a mx bike. fingers crossed.

Man if I could find my ps2 I would pop in Unleashed right now. That game not only had the best tracks, but there were also a ton of them! Even the other vehicles were fun to race. They just don't make them like that anymore.
