Yeah people need to calm down. He’s still off the pace and others are getting the best of him more often than not (HL, Chase, Eli). He’s got more wood to chop but his consistent and gritty ways will prevail sometimes. Tonight should have been Tomacs.

Still really glad they gave Prado’s bike to Marchbanks and Ando’s fast bike to Chase. Chase has every physical tool to be the best rider on the planet. He is lacking nothing…. His mistakes are very mental. Hitting the gate is probably the best example. He thinks he’s “timing” the gate drop which is remarkably high risk. I do think last year he had some issues with the shock and we often just blamed him, KTM does have a whole new shock this year. But on those occasions when he’s got it all together, he doesn’t get beat.

Webb can't win the title without luck now. If a bunch of riders go out he can win, or maybe if the points leader has a mechanical or a dnf then sure, but Webb is 24 points down after 3 rounds, and usually the riders that are able to pull themselves out of that kind of a hole are riders that are flat out the fastest in the field, which Webb definitely is not. It's likely that at some point this year one of the guys ahead of him in points will go out, maybe more, but if they don't...

Feel free to call me a fool in a few months if I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone can overcome a 24 point deficit after just 3 rounds to bring home a championship in this field. He didn’t lose those points because of a crash or injury. Whether it is age or the bike, he just doesn’t have the pace of the leaders this year. I know Webb performs better in the East, but Chase and Eli are both on new bikes and teams and will almost certainly get better as the season continues and they learn more.

I feel like Sexton actually might be learning to manage the lead vs balls out and pray nothing goes wrong. He is still my pick, and was before tonight, to win the title. Haters gonna hate….but we will see in 14 more races.

Webb just doesn’t have the raw speed of the top runners. He's always been 99% there and figured out the other 1%. That’s hard to do when everyone is firing on all cylinders.

Just going to say that many of the things that webb fans have cited as being signs of his superior mental game have always seemed more to me to actually be signs of self doubt or mental weakness and we all got a big glimpse of it last night. As others have mentioned, whining about the start with his history of playing games, saying the guy he couldn't catch was holding him up, saying the season is over after 3 rounds.... not the hallmarks of mental toughness.

Yep that and his sarcastic humbleness when he’s winning has me not feeling bad for him right now…

It’s funny for Webb complaining about people moving over on the start when he is notorious for skipping the rut and launching to one side..

A lot of riders in MXGP didn’t like racing against Prado either. Kind of funny though because Webb also has a reputation of some shenanigans right off the gate.
