There are 12 temperature sensors inside the battery, six per side. It will limit on the hottest sensor. If one of them is problematic (reading a temperature significantly hotter than actual temperature) that will cause it to falsely limit. It will limit because it thinks the battery IS hot, not because it thinks the battery will BE hot. The prototype bikes ran Molicel P42A. With those cells the weak point (thermal wise) was generally the battery. The batteries actually sold use Molicel P45B. With those cells the battery was generally no longer the thermal weak point. I say generally because...

The thing I hate the most about the electric mxbike community is that everybody is lying about the real performance of the bike. I built a custom electric Honda and I have overheating problem. But I go on diy ebike forum everybody says it is not possible etc. The specs of my bike are very close to those of the stark. I can get 80hp out of it too. But the overheating is the problem.

I 100% agree, but its not just about the ev bike community, it's everything. Haters will always hate and lovers will always love. How hard is to just tell it as it is is. Everyone on this forum I believe has a common interest in the love of dirt bikes. I couldnt care less if it is 2 stroke, 4...

It is definitely a battery issue as it is a battery indicator light that appears and stark have also said it is battery related. I'm no electric wizard of any sort but I believe it is restricting current draw to stop the battery running hot, not because the battery is already running hot. There is 2 different warning lights that...

I would say at 56hp I got around 17-18 mins of decent ride time. When the light comes and it limits power the battery just seems to disappear after that. Yeah I'm pretty sure my bike isn't faulty it's just the bikes limitations. I rode again today at 52hp and the light didn't come on till 20% so that is...

You may need to add a water crossing to your track, to cool it once per lap!

I believe this was an issue earlier on with bikes coming with a 48 tooth sprocket. It made the wheel come too far forward and rub. They have since switched to a 47 tooth which mine has and that has fixed that issue.

Once I knew Dean Porter was riding one on tracks like coastals that gave me a bit more confidence in my purchase. It is also why I am quiet shocked with my experience and was hoping there was simply something wrong with my bike. It must be noted that the races he has been doing have been very short races...

While my experience does suck for me, I still would not discourage anyone who's thinking about a stark to give it a try. For most people I can see this bike possibly being the best bike they have ever ridden. As you said I think it is good to have everyone's personal experience documented so it can help possible future...

There is nothing rubbing but the wheel is noticeably harder to turn than my 350sxf. I run a standard chain on that so whether it is the o-ring chain on the stark causing the extra drag im not sure. It is a riveted chain so I can't do a quick swap to test. I also like your idea about bigger...

For those interested. I set bike at 56hp and 20% regen. I got a total of 29mins ride time and used 93% Battery. Take into account it takes me around 3 mins and uses about 3% Battery each way to ride to and from my track. So around 23 minutes of actual track riding. I had got to about 15...

Love this, what you have done here is accepted that times are changing and made a purchase to support the future path of our sport, not taken sides not jumped on bandwagons just had a open mind and embraced what the future may be, basically wanting to believe in the sports future! Then You have gave a honest review of you experience, A rider talking to other riders! You never condemn electric once you simply say it may not be what we where led to believe and gave a unbiased opinion to other every day riders to consider! You gave...

Turtleneck Guy claimed his toy was superior to ICE in every way. He is a liar and a fraud, PERIOD. Some folks just love being lied to.

It has a radiator for cooling the powertrain but the battery is air cooled. Tested lower regen today, it did make a bit of a difference but it still derated. Will post up more info on the ride tomorrow if you are interested? It's too late where I am now ha ha.

Ha ha all good, I was actually having a little dig at myself. I've packed on a few unwanted kg's in the last year that I'm not happy about. This might be the kick in the ass I need 🤣 But about the scoop tyre, it will be something I'll have to test in the future for sure.

So here is my last response from Stark. It sounds like it is a known issue and maybe if I'm lucky they may be able to fix it one day. But if I was aware of this before I may not have purchased it. I was well aware of my battery life not being great and that was something I...

Yeah it is basically beach sand, we call it drift sand. It's mainly the soft top soil blown off all our paddocks. It's almost like powder when it dries out but is awesome during the winter when wet.

Nah have never ridden Southern Cross and not sure about the Norseman track sorry. When I was racing i mainly rode the Southwest series but I don't race too much anymore and just ride local tracks.

Looks like its time for me to loose some weight 🤣 Do you think running a scoop tyre would help or hurt battery life? On one side it will get more traction and probably create more load but on the other it will lessen wheel spin which may help.
