It's not a race bike and was never intended to be. It's based on the 90's version of the Yamaha Lanza 230 engine (close relative of the WR200 engine). If it was me I'd go with a throttle tamer, heavier flywheel/Rekluse, lower gearing and use the programmer for more fuel and retard the ignition a bunch.

Yeah, it could be. I thought that too, but it looked kind of like the pipe went forward after exiting the cylinder. Either way, that rear suspension looks as though it might be good for about an inch of movement before it locks up.

Wow! Looks like the pipe routes up by the handlebars first, then back. I wonder how they expected that rear suspension to work with that swing arm angle.

I think both the Suzi and Yami will be new models in 2018 so JGR will have their work cut out for them either way, maybe just a little more with the Suzuki. I would think that to keep consistency and transfer of knowledge from one bike to the other that if they had a 2nd team JGR would want...

This ^^^ However I'll say that the bike is probably different enough with the handling and the c.g. that you either love it or you don't. Romain Febvre is not a big guy at all and he gels with it very well, but I think his team is able to do different things to the bike than the JGR guys...
