So glad he's OK. That lid and neck brace saved his career and life IMHO. That Airoh will be one he'll of a collectors item/keepsake for Jason.

So glad he was wearing a neck brace. I don't understand at all why a lot of riders aren't wearing them anymore.. Even my friends that ride and have stopped wearing one say that they don't any more because it's not comfortable or you don't have as much mobility with your head when I ask them why..... Really.... Well it's not going to be very comfortable or you'll have NO mobility below your waist if you get into a crash where you land on your head or get landed on without one!

Who knows how bad of a neck injury he would've had if he hadn't been wearing his.

Glad he was wearing a neck brace? We will never know what would have happened if he wasn't wearing a neck brace so that's bullshit. He would be better off riding with a better helmet then that shitty Airoh. IMO that's a lot more important then a neck brace.

Dude.. Look at the way his fucking head got torqued when the bike hit it! If his head hadn't have hit the bars, the only thing protecting his neck from being bent further is that neck brace. The whole point of a brace is extra protection in case you might need it in the worst of situations. Of course a helmet is important, but so is protecting your spine. You know, that thing that transmits nerve impulses allowing you to move?

Yea nothing shitty about his helmet. Saved him as far as I'm concerned. The neck brace debate will go on forever. I hope they don't become mandatory as I used to wear one and have stopped now.

As far as I'm aware, the TLD riders are required to wear a chest protector with a back piece. But, I believe they mostly run the 5900 model (http://www.troyleedesigns.com/5900-chest-protector) which I don't believe is a CE certified or specific "spine protection" piece.

I can't agree more that I would never wear an Airoh myself. However, the helmets guys like Anderson, Cairoli, Herlings etc wear have very little in common with the ones you get from the store.

What makes you say that? If they are wearing helmets with very little in common to commercially available ones, then that would virtually make them experimental and without safety certifications and protection data. I would imagine it would be cost prohibitive to acquire certification(s) for a one off helmet.

For sure, that was hard to watch. The whole timing of it all, made my stomach knot up. I thought it was going to be really bad, and i was so relieved when news came out he wasn't to banged up considering.

That was one hellva ride and effort, very entertaining battle with Herlings.
