Damn, sucks for Ty Masterpool, kid had a ton of talent. How often do we see a second year pro, podiuming his first race back? Hope he can get some solid support maybe at a place like ClubMX.

10/14/2020 5:42pm Plessinger I feel will be back in the mix of things on the 450. He's probably not on the best bike for sx, but he probably would have had some nice rides outdoors this year if not injured. But I could easily see JMart sliding into his spot after 2021 if he does not start producing.

10/14/2020 11:18am Then they might as well just not sell a 450. Keep in mind, the YZ450 is one of the best selling, if not the best selling of all the 450's. No way they would jeopardize that. Winning sells bikes and even without winning that bike is selling because it's so good as an overall package.

10/14/2020 10:36am That would be terrible. The kid is practicing for sx and he got a moto podium or two in his first couple of races this year. I'm a huge JMart fan.....HUGE....., but I'd rather not see them let excellent young talent walk like that. I'd rather have Ty than Craig, Nichols, Frye or Thrasher.

10/14/2020 10:32am I think it may have been both. Webb was moving on to the 450 team in 17 and JMart moved on to Geico that year. Does not really make sense if it was just a Webb issue. I can't help but think that JMart would be on a 450 right now had he stayed the course at Star.

At Thunder Valley where horsepower is pretty important, there were 4 vacuum cleaners in the top 7 in the final results. No KTM. No Husky. No Kawasaki. No Suzuki. I get it they're all chasing Yamaha, but the rest are on par, if not behind, the vacuum cleaner.

I agree with you that Nichols has a better chance to grab wins or an SX title than Cristian Craig. IMO, Craig's best days are behind him, but Nichols doesn't have that many a head of him and unfortunately getting hurt frequently is holding him back. Either way, I won't be surprised to see him back at Star Yamaha or being let go. A case can be made for both decisions.

The other thing to add, TLD KTM struggled big time trying to get bikes figured out over the past 2 years. That is the main reason why everyone left last year. With them going to a new GasGas bike, I am sure people may be worried about it taking a year or 2 to get the bikes dialed in. Rookies now a day usually only get 2 years to make a name for themself and I would rather be on a proven bike. Those Star bikes are FAST!!

I like Nichols, unfortunately I don’t see him back at Yamaha. Again, I think the team who stands the most to gain out of the 250 musical chairs this season is JGR. Masterpool*, Marchbanks, Nichols, are all possibly on the market. New casino money for JGR and they can pickup some great riders.
