Tariffs are not the reason we lost manufacturing jobs. It was our push for globalization. US became more and more regulated (costs $$) and wages started to creep up ($$) so companies looked to manufacture in lower cost environments. Maintain or increase margins, maximize profits. No country benefited more from these globalization efforts than us, but as a result of this the earnings funneled more and more to the top of the food chain vs your average American manufacturing workers pockets.

I used to work for a large retailer that shipped product internationally all the time. I was responsible for resolving issues with international orders. Usually the issue was the customer not wanting to pay the tariffs to import the package. In some countries it was more than the cost of the item. The customer was always responsible for paying them.

It's not uncommon for car manufactures to offer rebates if you finance. I've seen cases where paying cash ended up costing more even if you financed and paid the loan off on the 1st payment. Financing is a big money maker for vehicle manufacturers. Telling a salesperson you're paying cash is a good way to not get the best deal.

The guy wants 8000$, you offer him 6000$. The two of you meet in the middle at 7000$. Does that mean that you ,as the buyer, “folded”because you came up 1000$ on your original offer? According to some in here that is considered a “fold”. I always considered it negotiation.
