BTW, I just went to a water cooled spindle on the router. The noise was getting unbearable. This thing barely whispers. I have yet to do any flamed maple tops because they want want so damn much for bookmatched anything on line plus I want to see it. ... more »

As far as I know it's carved not formed.

Did you take that?

Looks like it was in a fire. Everything is there though. Is the sound post intact?

Yes. And the binding channels. It's really hard to cut those by hand on a carve top. I've seen it done but it takes quite a rig. CNC make you lazy. The programming is fun though. I did some bodies with cherry too. It's good heavy solid wood. Your tool

I just happen to be working on a walnut Les Paul.

Looks like a birch or maple veneer for the panels but what are the frame components made from. Usually I can tell but you have me fooled on this one.

This one is a bit different. Not sure if I will strip and refinish. My friend would like it to be playable which I can do. It's her Grandfathers violin from when he was a child. She is in her 50's so this was probably made between 1900 and 1930. No labels

Sounds like another Professor/scientist looking for a grant. Anybody that qualifies his bona fides before he speaks obviously knows that what he is about to speak about is bullshit.

I tortured myself for an hour and a half watching "Kill the Irishman". The lead actor was a total zero but you would think that having Chris Walken and Val Kilmer would have lifted it a bit but no. They had the usual cast of gangster type casts which ... more »

In the words of the famous Yakov Smirnoff: Every country needs a city to make fun of. In America, you have Cleveland. In Russia we have Cleveland.

Ditto. Put in a 50 amp/220v panel right from the git. Keep the compressor on it's own circuit. I also like multiple outlets and short extension cords. Look down the road. You will not always just work on bikes.

Lots of great racing. Barcia and Tomac put a great show. Too bad it cost them both time. You don't have to get the holeshot but starting in 10th place against this field makes winning a tall order. Great series so far. I hope they all stay healthy.

Classic short squeeze. Here's the dealio: If you are long on a stock, all you can lose is your original investment. On the other hand, if you are short, there is no cap on how much you can lose.

Cross bracing keeps the structure from racking back and forth which it will eventually do if force is applied. Picture yourself standing at the end and you have a piece of wood clamped to the surface in the long direction and you try to plane it. When ... more »

It will rack in the short direction too btw, but I am assuming it will go against a wall.

Added reply in a thread Garage Workbench Ideas/Plans 1/24/2020 4:55 PM

My 2 cents is that it's going to rack in the long direction. If you are going up against a wall that you can screw to, it will solve that. Otherwise you will need some triangulation somewhere.

He may have been here but when DF's rear wheel slid out into Craig he was not in front. I'll go with what both riders said about it. I'm glad they're not as fucked in head as some SC fans. Not referring to anyone in this thread.

I really only saw it once. By now there are some really good shots where it's easier to tell if it was a good pass. Ferrandis thinks he fucked up there or at least his GF says that he does. I'll check out some more views.
