9/13/2024 2:32am Holy thread derailment. Back to the Op’s point. Yea the sport is definitely changing and it needs to change imo. There are too many races, same issue happening in F1, way too many races. Supercross should be 10 rounds Motocross should be 10 rounds Smx 4 rounds For a grand total of 24. ======================= Personally the level of risk these athletes have is 2nd to none. Imo there needs to be a cap on practicing during the week ala f1 style. So currently its 17 sx rounds.. allow like 10 practice sessions. No more, have other people do all the...

9/12/2024 7:12pm You’re absolutely right, there’s no way it would work with the current number of riders, but that’s the point. It would have to expand, providing more opportunities for riders and support staff. Teams would be larger. 4 vs 4 is not enough, but a night program of 6 vs 6 (x 2 engine classes), along with support races (i.e. Futures...

9/12/2024 12:30pm Occasionally I've received a Spoke Wrench and an owners manual,..........and sometimes a Triangle stand if I don't forget it in the parking lot.

9/12/2024 8:26am Was looking to get back on a smoker and have some fun on a 125. Picked up a used 23 KTM 125 sx with 17hrs on it. Has a TSP erm tune on it from the previous owner. I added the moto hose t-stat delete, 4.2 rear spring, threw a 9 heat range plug in it, set of numbers and a fresh set of Dunlops. Nothing but smiles first rip out 👍🏼

9/12/2024 7:33am JT is doing a great job but he needs to stop giving a long preamble to the question he is going to ask, or as you have observed, giving the rider an excuse.

9/12/2024 7:33am JT does a great job bringing up complex issues that most people watching want to hear about, including new fans. I don't think this was emphasized much at all before Daniel Blair and JT. I disagree with the whole "Dumbing things down" strategy helps hook new fans. I think its lose lose and you bore new and old fans with those things. I think using smart people who highlight topics with smart analysis of the unique nuances and complexities of our sport is what will attract new fans. The longtime racer or fan loves to hear about dirt characteristics, track...

9/12/2024 7:32am Falcon, I used to work 50 weeks myself. But my occupation didn't entail risking serious injury or even my life on a daily basis. As a fan I hate to give up any viewing opportunities but if I were a pro racer at the highest level, I can see their point. I think we are actually seeing moto in a moment where things can and will change, mature and grow. I'd like to see the playoff grow and mature with maybe even a natural track thrown in the mix and the regular season shrink a little. Maybe 20 regular season...

9/11/2024 9:47pm I am not making a comparison, sport vs sport. I am suggesting a different business model for extracting profit than the current, one-race-at-a-time, 30 weeks on the road circus… er, circuit.

9/11/2024 8:18pm That’s the gist of it, but more teams/locations/events. And just like NFL, you go to or watch your favorite live, then catch up on the others later (if you want). Then post -season playoffs, etc.

9/11/2024 6:16pm I’ve given this a lot of thought, and have actually written essays about it, but I’m too tired to get into it right now. But if you look at major leagues, they focus on home teams that have home facilities that not only have more than one major event a year, they are multi use, so the home team owners...

9/11/2024 4:27pm I have always said, if this sport really wants the big bucks, then they need to drop the traveling circus business model and adopt the league play business model used to great effect by the big stick and ball leagues.

9/11/2024 12:50pm I had a fairly enlightening conversation with Keefer about this and flagging at the Pulp ride day and it ultimately ended with both of us agreeing that we have all the answers to “fix” whatever issues this sport has but implementing them will be a challenge. These conversations just always end with a 🤷🏻♀️ followed by a “that’s just how it is”. This attitude towards the sport changing is pretty lame to put it lightly and whenever they decide to pull their heads out of their very tight and secretive buttholes the better the sport will become. Just my very...

9/10/2024 5:08pm Yeah it was a super deep 4D chess move to fake an injury, miss the better half of a championship he was raging favourite to win, so he could appear at SMX round 1 and “surprise” everyone with how good his recovery was.

luckyguy19 Liked a reply to forum topic If BMW made a motocross bike, would you buy it?
9/10/2024 5:05pm What a POS that bike was. I worked at a BMW,MINI, Motorad dealer when these bikes came out. At the time I rode a 2007 YZ250F, then later a 2010 YZ450F. The bike was garbage from the beginning. It handled weird, had poor suspension, vibrated a ton, and had the worst seat of any dirt bike I've ever ridden. BMW could not give those bikes away, they had a warehouse full of them. At some point they shipped us 10 of them to go put some miles on. BMW USA just wanted to be able to sell them used at...
