Cooper Webb wins with race craft, Webb doesn't have elite speed, Webb sucks outdoors, these narratives are all over played. His 450 outdoor career has been mostly amiss due to SX money/focus, his fractious KTM relationship, and injuries. It is understandable. He has displayed capability for one lap speed, and outdoor pace numerously. That the man has never turned down an opportunity to race the des Nations makes him an outdoor hero in my book, how many elite factory riders would drop down a class to race in England in the fall for their nations honor? Maybe Plessinger?

Crazy to think that Webb was going SOOOO SLOOOWWW through the rhythm lanes, it made me think his bike was about to shit the bed. It looked like he would be lucky to finish the race at all, maybe top 10. Then suddenly, after AP takes the checkers, Webb is on the podium? No one has game like Cooper Webb. Mic drop moment for his title hopes, from complete shit show to podium in the last few laps. F ing bad ass.

Every time they showed Webb, he was by himself and just creeping along. Then the race ends and he finishes third, and both of the announcers are gobsmacked. Webb had a phenomenal race, it’s a shame we didn’t get to see it.

The issue is, an official had the discretion to wait 7 seconds which, on balance, would have not been a safety detriment and would have preserved the integrity of the race. Arguably, doing so would be SAFER because of the risk of a shootout at 28 min of hard racing. Rules arent the whole story. There IS no rule stating WHEN a red flag must be thrown;it's purely discretionary. Therefore, dependent rules become somewhat sus and open to exploitation abuse or just misuse.

Man it's very different when the leader takes himself out and Anstie was in 2nd already therefore by default inherited the lead position. Very different scenarios
