In a heads up, close battle, Cooper Webb is the best supercross racer I've ever seen.

If his speed is close enough, he just finds a way, doesn't crack, doesn't fade, times it perfectly, and can seal the deal by inches.

His 'Race IQ' is off the charts.

Watching it live, Sexton was great most of the race and then just made mistakes while coop was coop. Passed him and held on for it. Great race.

Webb clearly  the fastest.

And he arrived to the checkered flag, first as well. Pretty solid evidence that he was faster than the competition.

You just stooped to a very low trailer trash level there mate. Totally unnecessary.

I have given up on Sexton now. Back in the days i was a Roczen guy, When Chase rode at Honda I rooted for him, Then Jett. And now when Jett went out it was natural to root for Sexton again but man it’s a tough watch.

It’s like he don’t realize HOW good he is. With the speed and fitness he possesses he should not lose or get passed like that but sure as hell he will always find a way to give points away.

I have never liked Webb, but for the rest of the series i will give him the nod.

I'd love to see him tie or exceed Dunge.   Big fan of both guys.    5 more wins is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Horrible comment! The guy is out there fighting with a bad shoulder. He was flying and strong at Daytona before injuring the shoulder. To talk about any rider like that is just disrespectful to say the least. Ask yourself what you would be capable of after going through what Roczen has?

By lap 10 or 12 the track was perfect for Webbs style.

Every year I wonder if the big bad Supercross Webb will show up in May, it’s the beauty and curse of our racing series. Maybe this is truly his year.

Yes, I agree. Oddly enough though, despite his "lacking the speed", he was never far away from the lead at any point and set the fastest lap of the race.

It's a weird conundrum.

Webb crashed last week and got fourth. Was that a lack of mental toughness?  If it’s Sexton Vital says so. Mental toughness isn’t enough to win races. Webb has speed he isn’t credited for enough. Whenever I hear Webb is mentally tough, it is followed up with “but Sexton is faster”. Webb was faster at Seattle. No buts.

Webb can run with anyone in Supercross . I think his lack of speed outdoors relative to the top guys affects people's judgment of him .

His speed is there. If it wasn't, he would never have an opportunity to do the things he does. It can't happen any other way.

Everyone has their better days and their off days..On his off days, he is still among the fastest, even though he may not be challenging for the win on his off days.

Throughout a race, on his best nights, I believe that Webb, atleast sometimes, is metering his speed.

Yeah I wasn't crushed by Chase not getting the win. Webb capitalized on a couple mistakes on a brutal track. Chase didnt tuck the front or have a complete meltdown

I was surprised to see Sexton get the lead in the first place. Seattle is Webb’s kind of track.

THere were times last night Coop looked tight and to be fighting the bike.   In the post race, he said he changed a setting and stated "which is not like him" to do.    He said the setting was the reason for a better result.

Whatever the case, that track was freakin gnarly....

Because Chase has more speed than Webb. He will out qualify him 99% of the times, put them on any physical test and I will promise that he has better fitness than Webb.

This race he caught Webb from behind, passed him and gapped him only to start with his usual brain farts.

Sextons highest level is higher than Webbs but once again, it’s like Sexton don’t trust in his own abilities like Webb does…

Had Sexton ridden the last 3rd of the moto like he rode the first two parts he would have won.

At no point was Webb out of contention. He also ran the fastest lap of the race.

When I used to watch Webb and J-Mart battling in the 250 class I was always rooting for J-Mart and wasn't a fan of Webb.  Never been a fan until last night.  After getting passed by Sexton it should have been over.  Somehow that som-bitch squeezed out some more speed and between giving Chase that love tap and covering that inside on the last turn it was absolutely epic.  Dude is bad ass.  And the podium interview was icing on that cake.

Yeah, it’s hard to get the best laptime when you holeshot and get clear track on a night where the track will become slower each lap. He put that one in on the second lap, go figure…

I think Webb always meters his speed. Even on his good days, when he has the field covered, he doesn't put 20 seconds on the field. He puts 5, and keeps it there. If he's in 2nd, and doesn't have the pace of the leader, he backs it off, staying just a bit faster than 3rd.

What exactly is being asserted here? That Sexton is faster? If Sexton has brain farts, and they slow him down, then how exactly is it that he has this mythical speed people keep going on about? Apparently, it’s in another possible world where he does things differently, such as in a world where he’d ridden the last third of yesterday’s race like the first. You mean the first part of the race where Webb had the fastest lap? But Sexton’s ability puts him at a higher level. How so? Even if we grant the speed thing (for the sake of argument - I think it’s silly) Webb’s mental toughness and race craft are among his abilities. Doesn’t that elevate Webb’s abilities? What evidence is there that, all things considered, Sexton has a higher level of ability? If he does, then why do we need to be talking about what ifs?

Webb keeps winning and people keep asserting that Sexton is faster, better, at a higher level, etc. I’m trying to understand why but the evidence doesn’t seem to be there. It starts to look like a baseless assertion after a while.

And remember, Paul Cooper Webb threw his hat in the ring to get a team to The Nations last year, and out of his comfort zone on a 250 dug deep. I’ll never forget that.

I was thinking more along the lines of pacing himself. I could be wrong, but I believe if he is in second place, he isn't going to necessarily settle for second, if he can run down the leader.

I just think he doesn't keep the bike on the edge of his control every lap and picks and chooses when to turn up the wick, if he is feeling it, realizing these races are not won in 1 lap or even 10 laps.

This may be exactly what you meant. If so, my apologies for being to dim to get it. I'm only speculating anyway.

There are certain people who will never give Webb credit where it's due.      Facts, fastest race lap times, wins.....none of it matters to these people.

It's been going on pretty much his whole career.  ...and the guy is on the verge of a 3rd SX title.

Reason and logic is lost on many vital members.

So he was fastest out of the gate, fastest around the track and fastest to the chequered flag, yet still isn't as fast as chase?
