I don't get the people who say his is just how it goes in a work setting. Are you also in favor of DEI? We should be upset that the guy who does the best job and works the hardest is getting screwed over by favoritism, by two guys who did an observably worse job at broadcasting, to the point where he had to quit because the frustration was no longer worth doing the job in whatever reduced capacity it was. And furthermore we should be angry this is happening in OUR sport, our tightknit little community. And we too...

After all this drama, one of the main takeaways is that.. This is a learning leson for RC, Ohh man, let's see how he can bounce back, must situation also.

kinda sounds like disappointment in unmet expectations, what he wanted and how he envionsioned it in his mind didnt match what others were planning. No big issues in that, just a bummer, i enjoyed listening to his calls, he did good, but honestly dont think corporate media fit him. doing his own version is good and he should run with that.

You know what's cool about Joe Cool (Montana), he quit. Arguably the best quarterback of all-time, tried his hand at broadcasting (1995) and was abysmal. Hell, even in his first year, NBC (ironic) paved the way for him to call the Super Bowl. In his first year(knowing he was abysmal)!! Get this, he quit working as an analyst during Super Bowl XXX at halftime! He wasn't a fan of the On-Air experience, never quite got comfortable or confident. Generally, athletes who are widely regarded as the greatest ever aren't very good broadcasters.They have too high a lens to look at...

The only way that bringing Daniel back into the booth can work is if NBC is out of the picture. Even if they got rid of Diffy, Will and RC, it still comes down to how NBC wants it run. That story doesn't make sense though. Right before Blair quit, he got the chance to move to other sports to do some play by play (IIRC lacrosse or something) and he said that he was getting more opportunities to expand and grow. Perhaps he wasn't treated well on the moto side, but by his own words he was getting opportunities outside of moto which is what you would want if you actually want a career in announcing.

Agree 100%. Been saying this for years. And the zooming in on the rider during the race because "reporter Wil" is rattling on about him is stupid and needs to go. Sadly looks we're stuck with what we have for the foreseeable future.

Weeg and DB were a great combo, like dream team level ! I can't take 2 seconds of Will and it seems she gets unlimited blab time, thank the Lord for the mute button. Not a fan of RC or Diffy so they get muted too, seems I mute most of the broadcast now. The only way I get through it is to wait to replay and fast forward to just the racing only and mute blabers. Someone stated how well Paul does broadcasting GP and "YES" he's absolutely excellent...too bad we can't get that. There's so much bla, bla...

I am not an RC fan and have tended to side with Blair. The way RC treated Daniel at the Arlington track walk thing was classless. But having seen Blair's little woe-is-me clip, I'm changing my view on DB.... In racing your performance determines career success. That's not necessarily the case out here in the real world. It's important to recognize and read nuance/politics and respond accordingly. Blair said he was disgusted by the politics....haha....hello....welcome to the real world! When RC calls to tell you you need to kiss Leigh's ass, you better thank RC and then go do that...

The outside won't take the sport seriously until we take it seriously. Having someone unfit for lawnmower racing announce the sport is a bad look. NBC patronizing ppl is a bad look. F1 got popular with the uninitiated because of the vibe and the scene, not because they explained what the colors on the tires meant ad nauseum. People flock towards exclusivity sophistication and indifference.

RC has always been a jerk with low self esteem, needing to tear others down. I remember how cringey it was when he first started with Jeff Emig. Jeff would joke about some little thing and RC would take it seriously and talk down on Jeff’s career. He’s done it with so many others too. RC is perfectly fine around people who don’t pose a threat to his esteem. Really sad that someone that successful as him is still so insecure.

If you listen to the whole thing, it’s pretty obvious that Bondo has a lot to do with this as well. DB mentions his name several times. Sure he may be the producer tasked with carrying out NBC’s directive, but he deserves to be raked over the coals as well. RC and Leigh managed to catch more heat than Rutledge Wood, and that’s really saying something. FWIW, most fans of other motorsports (IMSA, Indy, etc.) ALSO hate Leigh’s announcing. It’s a pretty common statement.

I have nothing but respect for RC’s accomplishments, his riding, and work ethic, but that’s as far as it will go. Very disappointing to see how this all played out. RC is terrible in the booth and really has not gotten better. His legacy allows him to stay there even though he butchers it week in and week out. He doesn’t seem to be receptive of criticism either. He does better in a podcast type of environment. Lost respect for Diffey too. I appreciate Blair finally being transparent about this.

I get that. They’re production direction is clearly flawed and retarded though. Endlessly placating to the “new fans” of the sport with low information 3000ft level view of it the entire time when we are all yelling for a better product year after year and they keep doing the same shit ass stuff.
