The sport is too small. There's like 10 people in the world making a living from motocross "journalism" and they're all sponsored by companies in the industry. They have to tip-toe around slighting those companies, the riders of those companies, and friends of those companies or else sponsorship goes away and food is taken off their dinner table. It's unfortunate motocross is still small enough that "the industry" can circle the wagons around the truth and anything negative being reported. As soon as someone speaks out they can get black balled and it's game over. It sucks but it's the truth. Being buddy-buddy with everyone is the only way to get little bit of information we do now.

absolutely, and it's been like that as long as I remember, won't change. It's always been a small incestuous community (industry) and it will always be. Everyone know and socialize with each other. We saw what happened when Lewis published Sexton's comments about the bike.

Same in the real world though, Fox News will keep telling it's audience what said audience wants to hear because it sells ads, pays the bill. If Fox stopped publishing only what their audience and the political police want, they'd lose audience and lose ad sales. Same everywhere but worse in a tiny industry.

What the fuck is the point of being a journalist for a sport if you’re gonna make friends with everyone then not be able to tell the truth on anything because your homies.

Unless we are all willing to just admit he’s not a journalist anymore and moto really doesn’t have any

I get your point, but my response would again be he tried to reach Daniel. Had he talked to him or had him on the show it would have been different. What I wish he would have done is also reached out to RC, Leigh, and/or whomever else was involved in the broadcast at the time. I don’t like that it is being written off a just a disagreement. JT is different. These are people he actually works for so he justifiably needs to stay out of it and he doesn’t claim to be a journalist.

I agree.  I think Matthes should reach out to the others, but we can't control how he feels about it.  Seems like most in the industry are just taking it as a workplace disagreement and you don't always like who you work with.  It's kind of hard to argue that, but the fans are certainly looking for more answers.  I also think if RC was actually good at his job it would have less impact.  DB was good, RC sucked and still does and that makes it way harder for me to let it go.

The abbreviation GOAT has a new meaning when it comes to RC — Greediest of All Time

Weeg and DB were a great combo, like  dream team level !

I can't take 2 seconds of Will and it seems she gets unlimited blab time, thank the Lord for the mute button.

Not a fan of RC or Diffy so they get muted too, seems I mute most of the broadcast now.

The only way I get through it is to wait to replay and fast forward to just the racing only and mute blabers.

Someone stated how well Paul does broadcasting GP and "YES" he's absolutely excellent...too bad we can't get that.

There's so much bla, bla, bla, you rarely get a chance to hear the bikes.

Jesus, can't we get a moment's peace with just the sounds of bikes racing?

I watched the pre race practice on YouTube and there was no commentary, just the cameras following the action. It was really nice without having all the talking heads.

I wonder if NBC broadcasters are required to take harassment training? I know we are where I work and thought it was a requirement, but maybe Elon has eliminated it…anyhow from the training I received seems like DB would’ve been better off suing NBC for this, he could also bring suits against RC and Diffy along with the unnamed NBC executive. Heck he would probably get more support from the industry then, we see all the support Rich Taylor gets for suing tracks, this would be similar…

That’s 10 times more than RC’s Title 24 Daytona review show.  Truth over Evil.

I read somewhere else that RC also was the one behind not letting Pastrana practice on the Suzuki practice track? Anyone know if there’s any truth to that? If that’s true there’s definitely a pattern forming with how RC treats people he’s threatened by

I’m obviously in the minority based on this entire thread. But I fail to see the gravity here.
- DB had blokes he blew up with or didn’t agree with. So he quit. Yeah, welcome to life

- Matthes and JT who are mates with DB and et al, don’t want to get involved as they are mates with all, and only hearing part of the story. So won’t comment too much. Yeah, welcome to life.

- DB gonna struggle to have any involvement with Feld and NBC moving forward based on his Jerry McGuire moment. Shit where you lay? Welcome to life.

Honestly, I like them all but it really isn’t anything but a workplace issue/difference of opinion, with very little affecting us plebs in our support for the sport

I’ll still listen to Matthes/DB/JT etc, as will most of the sport

You're actually spot on. At every company I've worked for, and others i've worked with, you have the same old problems where some people call the shots even though they have no right too. Or they don't have the skills but they're friends with management or whatever.

However I think the reason for DB's video was to air his side once and for all and not carry this with him any longer and i respect that a lot. I'd say he's cool with it if he can't get back in the industry, but now he isn't living a lie and covering for other people. It must be a huge weight off his shoulders.

If I might add my $.02, this revelation of DB’s wasnt just a random outburst. It seems it’s been eating at him since it happened,  but he was able to push it down and move on. Even with many asking him repeatedly what happened, he kept a lid on it.

But, they had to eff with him one more time. One group invited him on RDL, and it appears the other group did all they could to cock block him from any meaningful input to the show. I would guess they wanted to 86 him, but the first group didn’t want to be that big of flakes, so settled for keeping him to 3 minutes and saying absolutely no commentating on the practice session(s). That’s what pushed him over the edge, and brother did the floodgates open!

So, once again, that group shot themselves in their own foot with their hubris. At least that’s DB’s version of things.

I heard somewhere that RC is the president of the HOA where he lives. He's the guy who rejects the shrubs you want to plant in your back yard?

This is my read on the situation as well. I see him as having dealt with the workplace BS until he decided it wasn't worth it. Left and tried to move from it but when offered to come on the show again, they started back in trying to nix him so he unleashed.

Ultimately his popularity is what hurt him the most. I fear the others who are doing so well now will be a victim of their own success as well unless they completely tuck tail and let the production team walk over them while not questioning it.

The commitments DB received to advance his broadcasting career came from Feld. NBC are the broadcast partners, so they call the shots. Still doesn't excuse bad behavior. Commitments mean nothing unless they are enforceable. Learned that in my first job out of college.

Is there any truth to the rumor that RC paid the head security goon at Daytoner to take AC's credentials and have him thrown in jail?

At this point it wouldn’t surprise me. RC needs to get his as far as I’m concerned. Fuck that guy

I had to man, when I saw 22 pages, I thought, shit, I'll join the debate in emptiness. But for all those extremely involved, polarized passionaras, who dedicated so much time to beat a dead horse, make sure you put your wallet where your mouth is: total boycott of all things SX, from watching ot peacok, to never watch NBC ever again to boycott all entities that cooperate, work, finance the existence of Feld/NBC/Daytona, etc etc, dont be accomplices, don't forget it's all a conspiracy 😉

Lol @ "beat a dead horse" when the video literally dropped on Monday.

Guess you can't call someone out for shitty behavior without wanting to boycott everything they touch. Seems like a dumb hill to die on

Like I think Kanye West is a POS and won't go to his concerts, but 808s & Heartbreak is still a jam

I don't get the people who say his is just how it goes in a work setting. Are you also in favor of DEI? We should be upset that the guy who does the best job and works the hardest is getting screwed over by favoritism, by two guys who did an observably worse job at broadcasting, to the point where he had to quit because the frustration was no longer worth doing the job in whatever reduced capacity it was. And furthermore we should be angry this is happening in OUR sport, our tightknit little community. And we too were screwed over like Daniel, because we have to listen to the result every Saturday. Sure, we can mute it, but I'd rather hear insightful commentary on the sport I love by people I respect. And all this is worse in that it's tied to Bondo, the dumbfuck who can't even point out what's happening on the track. Ricky has sway with the powers that be, but he's losing all social capital. He retired almost 20 years ago and we have professional riders now who weren't even alive the last time he raced. At some point he can only be carried by his performance in the booth, and that's going to crumble against guys like Brayton and AC.

You guys remember when RC threatened to quite Supercross? Is that video floating around anywhere?

"Ricky Carmichael found out his fuel had too much lead in it from the San Diego race and was docked 25 pts.  Before Atlanta, Carmichael and Suzuki held a press conference in which Carmichael threatened to quit the Supercross season and come back at Hangtown if the AMA didn't revise his penalty.  Carmichael won Atlanta -- his 4th win of 2006 -- and pleaded his case to pit reporter Krista Voda as well.  While the AMA's ruling was consistent with the fuel infraction, they succumbed to the scrutiny and refunded Carmichael's points, instead giving Suzuki a $20,000 fine."

22 pages of stupid polarized TMZ crap about something that has absolutely zero impact on our lives as MX fans, absolutely zero impact on the sport, absolutely zero impact on racers and tracks, what a waste of life and time, just gossiping other people's job and life choices. Who cares. I just wanna hear the motocross stuff. I don't give a crap about DB's life choices or RC's TV career or his relationship with DB, absolutely not giving it an ounce of crap. 22 pages. Holy shit. Is the demo of this thread mostly boomers and Gen Xers?

Thank you Mrs. Carmichael

Cooksey you out there? Put on your latest disguise and go serve some people 😂

You should know by now that the only time Steve will have a hard opinion about something is when he got nothing to lose.

Look at how he handled the Yamaha/Deegan claim gate thing, he wanted nothing to do with that one since he is ”blue crue”.

And sure as hell, Both JT and Steve knows all the details in this one but of course JT don’t want to say anything about his employer and Steve don’t want to burn any bridges going on RDL and running his pulp privateer race again.

But if the moto media don’t want to talk about it and report it in a real way, don’t do it at all. If circulating around the subject for 15 minutes saying ”I don’t know man” and ”there is always two sides to the story” is the best they can do, just let it be then…
