It is not fun to watch. I don’t know if I’m just sympathizing with the riders and mechanics too much but all I see is just how much of a grind it is and it doesn’t seem to reflect rider skill as much as luck.

It's the big bike equivalent of watching PW's race in deep sand or mud. And I bet the 10,000 or so people that were left in the stadium were miserable.

Exactly. Everyone is being priced out of this sport. MX used to be the poor man's motorsport and it's becoming more and more a rich man's sport. We already have expensive, complicated EFI 4-strokes. That's great but it would be nice if we could keep 2-strokes as a cheaper, lighter, less complicated alternative that people could work on themselves. Who the F needs e-start on a 125??????? Come on !!! It's supposed to be a teenager's bike for kids just getting off minis. Parents can't afford to buy the damn things and kids sure can't scrounge up lawn mowing money...
