Honestly not even worth the risk. You'll probably only get stopped 1 out of every 10 trips... But you don't want this to be the one trip. Just get it registered and spark arrested. Edit: Actually, a lot higher chance of being stopped this week due to the holiday. Going during holidays generally sucks anyway. Too many idiots.

Honestly as long as you don't do anything stupid, like really stupid, the rangers will not bother you. And I have never seen a ranger check for a spark arrestor there. ( Other places yes but not there, maybe they know there's nothing to burn) would say go to poleline, head out 1/2 mile or so, park off to the right somewhere and the rangers will be a non issue. Will it be crowded ? Yep ! And there will be plenty of idiots to keep the rangers busy, there not going to come hassle you "Unless" Watch out for...

Speed, or wind or any outside variables except the rider swapped after jumping onto the top of the jump and got out of shape and was thrown from the bike at an awkward angle and landed hard enough to suffer his injuries. Help from several people doing CPR would not of saved him. His injury was fatal. A Trauma Surgeon could not have saved him. I spoke to friends he was with. Rule #1 for a pro rider in the usa is never spend $1 on bike, gear, parts, tools, truck, etc. Been this way for many years

Meh I don't really see the issue. He probably has a bunch of fresh gear that will never see the light of day, might as well get some use out of it while you can. When the opener comes I'm sure he'll have the proper gear with the proper logos, where ever he ends up.

Who cares about the gear? He is testing a new bike, doesn't matter a lick to me. Run what ya brung and go ride!
