Don’t get me wrong I’d love nothing more than an American rider to be back on top as well, it just seems to be getting blown up more lately. It’s cyclical, and eventually a US rider will dominate. Who it would be matters to me though. I loved the RD, RV, ET type rider. Work, win, and shut up…let your riding do the talking. .Unfortunately I don’t see anyone that fits that criteria I can get behind at the moment so I just enjoy the riders that do that from other places.

I remember his 1st days testing with Mitch…a smile with more energy than the sun. I remember Dallas…fuck me…that was fugly. Then the surgery…and he came back… I remember breakfast at Waffle House…with him and Mike…before that shit-storm. I remember now… In my sport, regular people of regular means can become something …something great…in my sport. They can even come upon some harsh times… Doesn’t matter. They’re still out there giving it all they got. Witness Austin Forkner.

All I can say is not for any kind of the money would I go through the injury list that this dude has been through. To came back from injury after injury and still immediately be at winning speed is something else aswell. That crash two years ago.. Dude is tough to come back from that and specially after brain surgery. A lot of people would have quit earlier, that's for sure. Good decision and good luck at your next chapter! Also one of the moments with Forkner I will never forget.. When he still lined up with his completely...

It is actually very upsetting because injuries and shit luck was such a part of his career. Unfortunately we will never know what he was capable of. But one thing for sure is that he gave it his all and is one bad ass. He for sure can walk tall.
