I've never bought a bike because of a rider.  Went for the best deal, dealer support.

The polarization is the perpetually online people who dislike him vs. the in-person fans who like him.

He has a self confidence that is triggering to insecure people,  and the internet is loaded with insecure people pretending to be anything but.

It's just the truth no one on a keyboard wants to read.

I just don't see it.... sure, I see cringe lord t shirts at the races, about the same amount as the Lawrences tbh.... but men don't wear another man's name on them... so that's a bunch of pimpled up teens with no sense to them...

I don't see because look at attendance rd2 of stupidcross... empty afff, the week after a cringe lord win, at a track in cali....

I don't see it on the media's socials either... a cringe lord post barely gets more engagement than one about webb or hunter...

Then theres... cringe lords social stats are big for a moto rider... but miles away from being actually mainstream... I can literally name a thousand names with larger yt/insta/x followers that you've never heard of before...

Most hated yes by a wide margin... most popular oh hell naw...

Go to the races. Deegan is the most popular.

Yes, but younger kids will want a bike because of  their favorite rider. I got a Honda CR80 because David Bailey and Johnny O’Mara. Pretty much stuck with Hondas.

The half that follow Deegan will influence them more than any other current rider. The half that don't won't avoid Yamaha just because of Deegan.

However much any factory rider has ever sold any brand of bike simply by riding it, no rider has ever sold more bikes than Marty Smith sold Hondas. If social media had been around back then, he'd have been a trillionaire.

Yes.
Next Deegan-related question?

We know one thing for certain: He definitely doesn't sell Yamahas to Brennan Schofield.

I am not sure if he sells more Yamaha’s, but what I do know is the younger generation associates motocross with Deegan and Deegan with Yamaha. This is a fact…

My son is in grade school and kids are wearing Deegan t-shirts, kids who don’t race (but they have dirt bikes)..My son insisted on wearing his Deegan t shirt the first day of 6th grade this year…

That being said he’s not bugging me to buy a YZ85— actually wants a another KTM..

Don't know ask Yamaha, some factory riders openly ride new models etc to promote them at launch events, I haven't seen Deegan do that but he might have

You don’t have to like Deegan to acknowledge a fact that involves him when the question is asked…..

I just don’t understand how you can literally not think Deegan helps sell bikes. Idc if it’s 50s/85s whatever. Hater mentality on here is just unreal.

You guys say bedbugs this bedbugs that, but the haters are the main ones starting dumb threads and blasting Deegan on unrelated threads 24/7

Who is “you guys”???

When did I say he does or doesn’t sell bikes?

I simply don’t have either of the passions that both sides possess.

But looking at these posts, it’s easy to see who does.

Couldn't tell you on 450s, probably at least some.  Almost certainly across models for younger riders 250 down to 65.

Yes, a winning pilot gets advertising eyeballs on his bike. Advertising sells bikes. So, indirectly, Deagan sells bikes.

I dont understand buying anything because of their spokesman, rider, commercial etc...but i also dont understand brand loyalty, bikes or trucks.

When i was young i would buy something based on looks, that i thought was cool. Now its about deals, leftovers etc...i think all bike are pretty good. Last few bikes, 09 YZ250, 08 YZ250F, 13 RMZ450, 19 KTM 450, 24 FC350

Hey! I had a busy day at work today; can't just correct misspellings all day long! 😅

About Deegan and his alacrity at selling Yamaha motorcycles: yes, he sells YZ450Fs. And I'd be willing to bet that he sells YZ250Fs, YZ125s, TT-Rs, R-1s, Kodiaks, and Wolverines. Probably generators and maybe a piano or two also. And he for sure sells Monster Energy and Fox, too.

The number of people he turns off and away from any of those products is dwarfed by the additional people he brings in. Like it or not, he's the guy right now.

No rider in history has moved more product than Haiden Deegan. You can hate it. But it's true.

If you haven't seen the absolute SEA of mini riders with the orange Deegs Astars lid, some of them named "Jett" "Eli" etc - I don't know what to tell you.

He's selling a generation, and Yamaha isn't stupid - a generation of kids and teens matter a whole lot for the future.

Grumpy old men that can't decide what they do and don't like, they just want Deegan to get off their lawn, are impossible to market to.

The main reason to have a factory race team is to sell bikes and create a positive image around the brand.

Haiden Deagan’s personality seems to be polarising, half his fans, particularly the GenZ youngsters love his outgoing aura and social media presence whilst the other 50% hate his brashness, dirty riding and particularly his reluctance to step forward and race for Team USA at the MxoN.
Does Deagan create a positive image for Yamaha and actually sell bikes?. Has anyone here on Vital actually bought a bike because of his results?

I don't  think it is 50%

everyone talking about dangerboy selling bikes doesn't know ship....laughable some of these responses. yamaha makes a finite number of dirt bikes each year.....just enough to nearly sell out without incentives. the dangerboy has nothing to do with it. dorks

In an extensive survey of 7 teenagers 😂 i asked my son's mates who their favourite rider was, (they were all camped at our place and I was watching the SX), one said Deegan, one said he was okay, the other five laughed and said he was an idiot (full disclosure: I feel this had some peer group influence).

No doubt you'd get a different response in the States, but does Deegan help sell bikes? Probably, but one thing i do know is, you're way more likely to align to the brand you start on as a kid. Which is why it blows me away that Honda and others have stopped investing in mini bikes.
