This track is exactly what youd think an SMX track should look like. Yea Id probably like the venue itself to be in some place like vegas for the last race, but to be honest I think its more important to have the last sx race in vegas than smx. Sx heritage is the series starts at anaheim and ends in vegas. Smx can and will be its own thing and thats fine. I hope eventually those things will settle into place.

Anyways though this track looks awesome. A sick track doesnt always guarantee great racing, but I think it makes it much more likely. They should build more of these and less of the sx tracks minus whoops imo.

Looks legit

These tracks need a whoop section. One of the biggest separators we have and not one set.

Yeah, that's what makes great racing- separation.

The last track had some pretty good racing and that was a heavily criticized track. While you could argue the drama came from other reasons than layout, it still happened

The first 1/4 lap of each race up to the second bowl turn is gonna be gnarly. Looks fast with some "bends". Guys are gonna be close together, not much to separate them prior.

The track looks sick though. Thats what smx needs to strive for at every round.

All tracks needs whoops. Those that say whoops do not belong in the Outdoors, Kenworthy's/Troy and the dirty dozen and Loretta's and the 10 Commandments.

The 1st 180 after the holeshot line might be interesting except for the first few guys out front.

You know this isn’t Musco’s first rodeo.  Lighting shouldn’t be an issue.

Looks like there are several places to race/pass on this layout. Calling out Deegs and Webb...report to track.

Hopefully it ends up being a real hybrid track. Would be good to get atleast 1 track as this 3 race series advertises the series will be.

To me that course looks pretty one lined and fast. Very cool layout and I like the extended layout. I also think there isnt much for passing opportunities after the start.

I think this section will be where the most passing will occur

The issue with the track is they are still using plywood as opposed to building on the natural terrain (like they did in Chicago) so it will still race like a SX track since the track would get deep/rough or allow multiple ruts/lines to form which limits passing opportunity and makes it hard to gain time since everyone can go fast on a smooth track.

Compare this to Chicagoland, which got super rutted since they dug into the natural grass

The reason for the lack of whoops is due to the style of the SMX hybrid tracks. SX jumps, but no whoops. They don't make whoops for Nationals. Just use the roughness of the track to compensate. Otherwise, it would turn into a straight up SX track.

Looks pretty good for a “Bait shop parking lot in the lowest median income state in the country” !

If the seating isn't too much of a clusterfuck this venue has a lot of potential as an actual hybrid track.

Local stomping grounds for the most part.  Glad they have the "finale" at a proper venue.  These races could easily be held in places like this, and I am willing to bet it draws a larger crowd than lame LA.  If you are going to have SMX, then make it legit like this. Not the previous joke show of events

Most racers double or triple these. Tomac has blitzed them. That track section is an anomoly for outdoors.

This shouldn’t be the exception, it should be the example. The bare minimum.

Looking forward to it. Looks like a very scenic place!

Who wants a slot car track that doesn't allow for good racing?

Plenty blitz, plenty jump just like an SX race. The reason given for no whoops is bike set up issues. But that’s BS.

They don’t have to be SX spec but they could build whoops.

Lol looks like they already NERFED the track map. It's getting really tiring for the actual track to NEVER match the drawing and it's ALWAYS more tame/simplified.

The outdoor section looks like a joke. A small flat straightaway on plywood into an SX style 180 bowl turn. Are we fucking serious? Thought this was supposed to be more MX style, but clearly not...

I see what you did there. While I’ve never been to the parking lot track area I have been to DC and it blows pretty hard.

Looks like they are making it a sand section, probably better than what was originally planned.

Riders needed a headlight in the back section

Yeah, unfortunately seems like that section has been removed. I think, to the point DonM made, yes, they brought in some sand, but again, if it's built on plywood + hard-packed rollers (which the current track pics show), it's never going to get deep like an outdoor and will not allow for much passing as is the case w/ most SX sand sections. The only reason the sand turn worked last week was because it was a wide arching split lane turn, which this doesn't seem to be (more of a tight 180).
