Yes. We are heading towards the absolute big-time. So glad in damn near 50 years around this sport, so happy to see such progress we have made.
It’s the GP of China track in Shanghai last weekend.
Ummmm…..check his location.
Mexico. He’s trying, don’t be a douchebag.

They could have also moved the starting line to the area where the tractors are and gone width-wise, and that would have opened up at least one more lane that the 100+ yard start straight takes up.
Super gimmick-cross
After watching press, going to be extremely hard to pass on this weekends track.
It looks almost as sad as the Utah SX track always does.
Maybe they’ve decided to save money on “ proper “ facility rental and are using places like that for the extra races this year?
Remember the 2022 sx at Atlanta Motor Speedway? That track was badass! Way more hybrid than any of these trash piles. Like someone said, Daytona is more hybrid than these straight up sx tracks.
Atlanta was badass.
SMX started cool but it has reverted to lame sx tracks with no whoops now. Petty sad tbh
When I think of what would be a great mix of SX and MX, I think back to the 2015 MXGP of Qatar. Flat but plenty of sweeping outdoorsy corners, I feel like it mixed the two disciplines well.
SMX is just a money grab. Just crown the overall champion based on sx plus mx points at the season end. Also, double and triple points in smx is ridiculous. How do you crown a championshi with gimmick scoring?
I'll say it again but I'd rather the season end after the last national. Give the guys a true offseason.
Si.
I think it's just a defensive move so that Feld can protect their flank. As soon as we see WSX meet its demise, Feld will end this SMX experiment and proclaim that the money in the next television contract just wasn't there to renew our "playoffs."
Sandcross
Oh wow, that's fucking pathetic. What a blatant display of sheer cheapness from the promoters and complete lack of creativity from the track designers.
Pit Row
I like the idea of moving away from “hybrid tracks” (they’re not actually hybrid, I know) and moving towards insanely difficult Supercross tracks with bigger and more difficult obstacles. Throw in some new and exciting obstacles and I think it would be a win.
And when they do, give us our fucking 12th National back assholes!
Atlanta Speedway! It was awesome!
SMX round 2 today and fastest time under 50 sec....how silly to call it SMX 🙄
I have absolutely no interest in staying up to watch this live, and I've been going to sleep at 3 or 4 am on supercross nights for years (UK)
It’s always been vague what SMX is as they kind of made it up by combining SX and MX to create this playoff. Hybrid tracks are awesome but require larger venues. I think it would be nice to see one round be motocross, one round be supercross and one round be hybrid.
I’m going to keep saying this but imo they should move A2 from SX to the SMX playoffs. I think it would be rad if the year started at A1 and anded at A2. It would also make the playoffs 4 rounds and make the points system for the playoffs better because as it stands the first round of SMX gives very little points compared to the 2nd and 3rd. If it was 4 rounds you could do the first 2 rounds single points, the 3rd double and finale triple. So anyways as you can tell by my rant my bigger issue is the playoffs being only 3 rounds, the layouts don’t bother me. I think moving A2 from SX to SMX is the move.
There's already a full season of sports stadiums with limitations that make creative track design difficult. It feels like SMX needs to lean into the speedways and whatnot. Big canvas locations. Doesn't mean each round needs to be a mx/sx hybrid course. I'd be fine with spec built sx if it allowed them to break way from the limitations of maximizing what is already too little floor space.

I always thought Bristol Motor Speedway would be cool. Las Vegas Motor Speedway as well (the infield not the drag strip they've used previously). I'm sure there are some mitigating factors, but man... the things they could do. Bristol can seat a huge crowd, so with the <40k SMX round attendance they could use whole seating sections for elevation change or something off-camber, and then more supercrossy up front where the crowd is at.
Also I was curious about size of these facilities compared to SMX round 1 and 2. I didn't realize how massive LVMS is.
I'd love to see Bristol, they've obviously brought in dirt before for Nascar and held football games in the center infield so it should be possible.

Also, why not host it in the Charlotte dirt track like MXGP did, doesn't have to be at the dragstrip.
Also, the issue is not even the floorspace, but the track, the SMX Cup in 2016 was in a smaller arena, but they actually made the track deep, so it shaped up like an outdoor track. The issue with SMX is the jumps are rock-hard and the sand sections are a thin layer built on rock-hard pre-built rollers so ruts never develop. They should build it softer and deeper and wider like this track:
With no whoops and :50 lap times, it’s less an MX/SX hybrid and more a state fair race.
They built that track like a straight up indoor motocross track. It had motocross jumps, deep dirt and instead of big sx bowl corners they were low and flowy and you could just hold it wide open around them. That was a fitting track call super motocross imo. The racing was still great too even though the track was super simple and had no rythm lanes.
I bet the fact that is was so much less dangerous is why they were ripping so hard. The racing was awesome. If ppl could go back and judge the track ahead of time ppl would have said itd be boring cuz there was nothing to separate them. In reality the deepness that would punish ppl who lost flow caused tons of separation. Awesome race.
This year leads me to believe we are creatively bankrupt if this is the best we could do as track design.
I haven't even checked when it starts lol. I'll catch the highlights
