If it wasn’t Deegans very first season aboard a 450 and he didn’t initially suck at starts trying to figure them out the first 4 races. If Deegan had 7 seasons on a 450 like prado.  Deegan started way behind prado the majority of the season. It looks like he has things figured out now though on starts. Saying that prado was more successful isn’t right at all. Maybe somewhat evenly matched I can agree with.

We can plays ifs all day, but Deegan finished ahead of world champ prado at the end of it. Here’s an interesting stat this year:

A rider is not responsible for a mechanical failure.

If this championship was measured only on what the RIDER is responsible for, Jorge beats Deegan.

If ands and buts were candy and nuts…. The championship points are awarded for finishing position. Give it a rest.

same thing happened his rookie 250 season. People called it lack luster compared to the hype, wasnt going to win etc, Then turned into one of the most dominate 250 riders for sure.

Next year is a make or break year for him and his ego IMO.

Remember that moto Prado and Deegan both crashed/started last? Deegan got to 4th while Prado took it easy. Lots of ways to spin it. When it mattered and finished Deegan settled in at 3rd.

yes it is. If he gets smoked all SX and runs 3-7, his confidence is gonna be roasted. Then on to '27 MX it'll be a step back from this year assuming a healthy field. The last boss that Deegs is gonna have to beat is the one between his two ears...and it's gonna be TOUGH for him to line up and NOT tell himself to expect 3-7th....

Let’s also not forget how amazing jorges first US mx season went…. I don’t want to take away from Jorge, I’ve come around to him since the kawi days and he for sure is on it right now.

I think first 3/4 of the season deegan 100% was the better rider. Past couple rounds I gotta give it to Jorge. But overall I mean 3rd is 3rd.

Nice try but no. It was a complete failure given how he ran his mouth coming into the Nationals. He couldn’t stay within 30 seconds of the leaders in most motos.

the dangerboy benefitted from no dnf's this season.....Jorge and Hunter suffered one each. Hunta wins going away without his and Jorge finishes third without his.

that said both Jorge and the dangerboy were no match for the bros....

I went back to a thread I made in January of this year about Prado. Some replies were about how he'd be a 3rd-7th place guy. One said he'll see a lot of LCQ's and be battling with McElrath. One said Prado is the least of Deegan's worries. Chase will come out with wins and podiums right away and make him look bad etc.

Then I come into this thread, and people are saying HD only got 3rd because of Prado's DNF.

I think it'll take 2 heat wins and an overall before the tide starts changing, or some people go silent.

Consistently this year, Haiden ran right up there with some of the greatest champions. An in-form Jorge and both brothers. No one in the rest of the field was even close, and it had strong guys. You ride that in your rookie season, the wins will come.

Also he will improve, he has the drive. He is fast, but with frantic intensity. He will learn smoothness and economy of physical effort. Also, the brothers may not be a factor sometimes for any of a number of reasons.

Talking 0 laps led, in 2023 Sexton actually went 0-22 with zero laps led (in his 4’th 450 season) against a rookie!

And Deegs is actually credited with 1 laps led 2026 (from holeshots to the line so not really valid but it is in the history books…)

My opinion of Haiden would change 180 degrees if he approached Jett and Hunter, extended his hand, and said “you guys kicked my ass.  Congratulations on an awesome season.”

Never been a fan of any Deegan.  But Haiden did impress me with his thoughts on his bike and team. He said he struggled with the bike but ultimately thats his fault. He’s the one that gives the team feed back and they are working their ass off to make it to his liking. So he would go  out and give 100% every moto. It’s the only redeeming quality I see in the kid.  Prados answer was to quit and be a lil Bitch. Chase was headed there as well.

Why would his second year in the 450 class be a make or break year for him?  Tomac didn't win his first 450 MX title until his FOURTH year in the class.

Haters gonna hate.

Deegan 2.1M IG followers

Jett 930k

That’s pretty interesting and I see no reason for him to stop doing what he’s doing. Unless you guys just hate money or something too because he’s for sure earning that…Now I hate I’m comparing IG followers, but it’s a pretty good indicator of marketability and how much this kid is selling as far as merch and eyes on him. Pretty insane too being that Jett is legit the best guy I’ve ever seen on a motorcycle.

We used to love the banter when it was reed, stew, rc, jlaw, peick, Hansen, etc. what happened? World went too soft for a little banter now? It’s just insane how much you guys care about it. He talked shit, he didn’t fully back it up. Who cares. He’s literally the first to make fun of himself on that. The kid is humble and takes all the blame. Doesn’t shit talk the bike like chase and Jorge. He’s also hungry for it. Whatever gets him in that killer mindset to let it all hang out I’m 100% on board. His style is sick to watch.

Alright, I chuckled. In all honesty, he had a good year, but with the shirt, constant trash talking, and overall disrespect towards his competition over the years, it was nice to see him humbled this season. He has quite a bit of work to do to catch the Lawrence bros. I’m excited for supercross.

Exactly, not to mention he sits by himself under the tent after the final moto with his competitors congratulating one another while he sits there watching. And look at the love Cooper Webb gets for stepping up for MXON-money can't buy that shit-this is what the Deegan camp seems to not understand. A critical error.

captmoto wrote:

I was wondering if Deegs would go congratulate Hunter. It seems like everyone else did. He ain't one of the guys.

In the broadcast, but not in the replay, they showed a rider congratulate Hunter with a simple fist bump.  They showed only the fist of the rider.  There were no words exchanged, no hugs, just a look on Hunter's face that made me assume that was Deegan showing respect, and Hunter accepting it.

I don't think the Lawrences like the banter, except Jett.  But there is respect.
The t-shirt started things off on a bad note.  But, Deegan himself has been honest about where he's at compared to the alien bros.

He’s making a fortune though, so he probably doesn’t care what I think..

He’s better than Barcia but what a cocky tool his dad created. I’d humble his ass if he was mine.

Agree? lol. But if you’re going to be third best rider the shit talking, ig, YouTube seem to be making him an absolute shitload of money. If he just didn’t say a word, thanked his sponsors, went home like most of the riders he wouldn’t be as well off no? It’s just a shame some of you grown men can’t handle a little banter. It’s honestly not even as bad as the past eras of banter we’ve seen but for some reason you guys get all butthurt

There’s an entire series on banter, trash talking, insane takeouts. That’s vol1 I think they’re on vol 16 now lol.

Dirtbikes used to be badass dudes on bikes. You guys seem to want it to be like fucking golf or something. Ridiculous. Take ufc for example. The lead up is purely trash talking. What happens after they’re done, shake hands like men and move on. We’ve seen interviews with James about how he hated his competition. That’s the mindset some people need to go all out and put their bodies on the line like they do.

So needless to say, stop crying about a rider’s t shirt he wore. He knows they’re better, and he’s going to go to war to get on that level. It’s about the only good storyline in mx this year and as much as you haters cry about it, you’re entertained.

And I can list literally thousands of people w more IG followers that you've never even heard of before.. he's nowhere even near mainstream... while his camp loves to throw those numbers around, he's still a pissant in the social game... they overprop Everything...

Agree?

You make a decent point but if you’ve read any instagram comments, having more of those people follow you isn’t an indication of any brilliance

I’m sure he’s really upset about those comments when deciding whether to drive his r8 or rolls Royce to the bank.

Haters gonna hate.

Deegan 2.1M IG followers

Jett 930k

That’s pretty interesting and I see no reason for him to stop doing what he’s doing. Name one current rider with more following? He has more following than Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Lawrence’s, etc. by double.  That’s not a small thing buddy. I know it’s dorky to even talk about, but the kid sells. He makes absolute bank and he brings more eyes to the sport.
