Deegan doesn't want the smoke-if you don't want the answer don't ask the question. Many have legitimate opinions on this race (Infront should pay, AMA should cover costs, too many races, etc, etc) but the bottom line here is Star is no doubt taking the heat for Deegs, especially with them going across the pond for WSX around the same time. It's too bad the Deegan camp doesn't see a vision for taking the risk, going out there and racing, and even picking up the tab to do it-the ROI on this move would be more than paid back in every way. Racers race and if he went out there and finished in the top 5 his stock goes up 100%. What bothers me is the inference he is going to when we can be pretty sure he never had any real intentions of going, year after year. Money comes and goes (and he is fortunate to have plenty of it-all earned-good for him), racing this event goes way beyond that.
Sorry but WSX is paying Star the fee for the bike and personnel and they are also paying Deegan to show up….so you can’t compare the two it is not the same.

It's a real shame that mxon isn't close to the place wsx is paying them to go to and star couldn't use that to their advantage to cover some of the mxon costs since their rider wanted so badly to go.....
I'm not a Deegan fan by any stretch. But I can't bust his balls on this. Times change and FIM destroys things. I'm a huge fan of old school MXDN. I've been to a couple. But it's just beat now. Costs a crazy amount of money for racers, teams, fans, vendors, race promoters, everyone involved. And they are making a ton of cash off of it without taking care of anyone except themselves. It's a money grab in the name of patriotism now. It's terrible what they've done with it. Unfortunately not surprising though.

It all changed when they started racing 4-st. None of them did the money races here & skipped the French sx that was the best event. The big Italian race was done. Timed qualifying instead of racing. Etc Crazy expensive sport now & as an IC a rider is forced to race for money. In many ways the vmdmx is a bigger race.

The MXDN as we've known it doesn't seem like it is long for the world.
Maybe if the rumored SMX vs. MXGP race ever happens, a secondary scoring by country (top 3 scores from each nation) could work as an alternative.

This type of stuff is why mxon is played out. Means nothing now when up until the early 2000s it was the top of the food chain. It ranks with WSX and AX now.
I love how people try to play down the importance of the mxdn. It’s always worse when it’s in Europe and suddenly becomes more important when it’s in the US. It’s the USA’s chance to pitch their best riders against the best of the rest, it’s not insignificant.
And let’s me clear. If money were an issue there are plenty of people that would step up and pay the bill. Probably forum members.
