A majority of Yamaha's business has already moved to GA, but this is still tough to see. Quite a few layoffs happening, too. What a bummer for those folks.

Pretty crazy to ride around “the city of industry” and “commerce” Ca. and see so many vacant businesses and warehouses, it’s a shame…

I hate it for the people that lost their jobs that worked there. I know a lot of times they are given the opportunity to relocate, but if you have family there it's hard to leave and move away from them.

Agree with above... its hard seeing people lose jobs.... but the state did it to themselves.

I was surprised ktm chose to build and stay there.

the state (or at least the people with iron grip on running the place) drove me and the wife out after both growing up in San Diego into our 50s. They only seem to care about people that align with their ideology and agenda that has proven a failure in so many ways. It's worse than a shame 😥

yep. There's similar crazy infection going on around the capital area in Denver, but it's lagging CA by about 10 years. It's also held in check some by a Taxpayer Bill of Rights. I live in extreme SW area of the state which is mostly Conservative.  We also have a strong lobby of Agriculture, hunting, hiking, off road cycling MTB as well as motorized off-roading that band together to very effectively maintain our rights to use our forest, BLM and open spaces as legitimate recreation so we are not losing riding areas.

No kidding. KTM spent north of 50MM on their new facility in Murrieta. Barring something crazy happening, they are going to be married to that place for a long, long time.

Which political party has had a statewide monopoly in California for the last 40 years? I can't quite remember.

It is easier for new ownership to bite the bullet on mistakes made by prior ownership. If that operation is a money suck Bajaj will move it.

it's California politics.....businesses are tired of the regulation, taxes, and constant bs talk from political leaders that business is the enemy. it is a shame as i once lived in the San Diego area in the early 70's and it was great - then.

This shouldn't be political, but there is a shit fuck load wrong in Texas as well, and the same can be said about one party being in power too long. When your party doesn't win by a large margin, that means you got a ton of poeple that still want some type of representation they deem fair. Going all out nuclear on one side is not the way to govern.

It truly is a shame. It's bad enough to forward one-sided, idealistic policies about climate or beliefs that produce stifling burdens on businesses. However, the people in control are treating the taxpayers like the unlimited paycheck for their own little ideological playground. They feel like they have unlimited funds and the governor brags about how we're the 5th-largest economy in the world, yet they keep raising taxes.

it shouldn't be political but you Californians have lost your soul. You vote for socialism and you have it. Yet you have people leaving their houses to live in tents . 5th largest economy my sphincter!. Somewhere along the way you weirdos are going to have to decide if you belong in this great country or just keeping serving your Mexican Overlords. Their homeland sucks......think about it

you're probably kidding but... CA doesn't have the water or electricity needed to supply data centers. The power grid is badly outdated and needing upgrades for starters. Doesn't mean they won't suggest it at some point though as a magic $ generator for the state. Wait and see if the "1 time only" billionaire's tax passes to fix homelessness and give free medical care to everyone to see how the winds are blowing for massive new business investments.

In 1994 we unloaded dual sports and did a tour of Colorado on as many cattle trails as we could. Looking back, we should have stayed in Ouray and rode around there for 5 days!

I was late to the party getting interested in an E-MTB and clicked the link on Yamaha's website that I skipped over a million times. Saw the MORO 5 and an entry level bike and got busy researching them along with Specialized and a couple others with guidance from friends. Printed out the bike I was interested in and went to local Yamaha dealer all excited. Big letdown when he told me they were authorized dealer but had never seen 1 in person or had anyone ask about them. He did a little digging on his dealer website and found out they stopped making/selling the Ebike line in 2024 🤔 Yamaha sold off that business to a Chinese company. Upside was that pushed me towards Specialized and got a killer deal on my new bike from a local dealer 😁

Was going to say.  Not all rosy in GA either.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA is revising its side-by-side strategy and will stop manufacturing SxS vehicles at Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation in Newnan, Georgia, after the 2026 model year.

I, too, bought a Specialized Turbo Levo from Gear Bicycle Sales in Pennsylvania (John - on the board is handle GBS).  I love the bike.  Put a couple hundred miles on it in the past month.  John went above and beyond to get me what I wanted and to help me out with my issues.  I cannot thank him enough.  I bought the entry level model, and its fantastic.  Only thing I would upgrade on the entry level bike at this point is maybe the brakes.  Jury is still out.  I am only riding it in eco mode at the moment in tight woods, but heavy bike in downhill off cambers is a thrill with the entry level brakes.

is yours the Levo 4 model? It is the replacement for the (discontinued) SL I bought. 1 of my friends bought the Levo 4 and weighed it = 60 lbs vs the advertised 44 lbs for the SL. Levo 4 has bigger motor, battery, and front down tube to house it all. That could account for some of the weight difference. Only changes I made for my personal rideability is better seat and 80mm riser bars with fatter sticky grips.

You're only half right partner. A very large percentage of "Us Californians" haven't lost our souls, we've become victims of a corrupt political process. Ballot harvesting, Jerrymandering, misleading ballot initiative titles, mass mail out ballots, etc., eliminated representative government in California about 15-20 years ago. And unfortunately, is now the proven playbook they are trying to implement everywhere else. California could return to glory in 12 months, if we actually had leadership. There are signs of life......... In the meantime, I suggest you keep an eye out for the above cheats and eliminate them when they come to your neck of the woods. (sorry for the politics)

Sad to see that plant close. I remember driving past that facility as a kid 30-40 years ago!

Besides KTM, Kawasaki is still in OC, CA. My friend and I used to live across the street from there in Lake Forest. Used to go in the lobby to get stickers and watch them test ride bikes in the adjacent dirt lot. They're still in Lake Forest, just up the road a bit.

Can we start a post specifically about the E bikes?

My wife and I are about to get one for our retirement traveling. I am between getting a base Levo or a Como.

What CPW has done with the wolf re-introduction has been tragic for ranchers and the wolves they dognapped from Canada to release there,

I'm not going to do a long political post here either. Just offer a tiny microcosm of what's wrong...

All someone has to do is research the CA "bullet" Train, Forcing developers to install solar on all new construction- then reversing course a few years later because TOO much daytime energy was overloading the grid and they had to pay other states to take it, and water issues from Delta proposals all the way back to Jerry Brown and the way Metropolitan Water District operates, and finally all the $ wasted on "solving" the homeless problem that has never reduced the annual official count.

I'm surprised any business would stay in Cali. In the immortal words of the Joker...you get what you fkng deserve. Good on Yamaha. If Cali could tax you for the weather, they would. Kind of sad the way it's turned into such a beautiful sh*thole.
