A majority of Yamaha's business has already moved to GA, but this is still tough to see. Quite a few layoffs happening, too. What a bummer for those folks.

Pretty crazy to ride around “the city of industry” and “commerce” Ca. and see so many vacant businesses and warehouses, it’s a shame…
I hate it for the people that lost their jobs that worked there. I know a lot of times they are given the opportunity to relocate, but if you have family there it's hard to leave and move away from them.
Agree with above... its hard seeing people lose jobs.... but the state did it to themselves.
I was surprised ktm chose to build and stay there.

the state (or at least the people with iron grip on running the place) drove me and the wife out after both growing up in San Diego into our 50s. They only seem to care about people that align with their ideology and agenda that has proven a failure in so many ways. It's worse than a shame 😥

yep. There's similar crazy infection going on around the capital area in Denver, but it's lagging CA by about 10 years. It's also held in check some by a Taxpayer Bill of Rights. I live in extreme SW area of the state which is mostly Conservative. We also have a strong lobby of Agriculture, hunting, hiking, off road cycling MTB as well as motorized off-roading that band together to very effectively maintain our rights to use our forest, BLM and open spaces as legitimate recreation so we are not losing riding areas.
No kidding. KTM spent north of 50MM on their new facility in Murrieta. Barring something crazy happening, they are going to be married to that place for a long, long time.

it's California politics.....businesses are tired of the regulation, taxes, and constant bs talk from political leaders that business is the enemy. it is a shame as i once lived in the San Diego area in the early 70's and it was great - then.
This shouldn't be political, but there is a shit fuck load wrong in Texas as well, and the same can be said about one party being in power too long. When your party doesn't win by a large margin, that means you got a ton of poeple that still want some type of representation they deem fair. Going all out nuclear on one side is not the way to govern.
It truly is a shame. It's bad enough to forward one-sided, idealistic policies about climate or beliefs that produce stifling burdens on businesses. However, the people in control are treating the taxpayers like the unlimited paycheck for their own little ideological playground. They feel like they have unlimited funds and the governor brags about how we're the 5th-largest economy in the world, yet they keep raising taxes.

you're probably kidding but... CA doesn't have the water or electricity needed to supply data centers. The power grid is badly outdated and needing upgrades for starters. Doesn't mean they won't suggest it at some point though as a magic $ generator for the state. Wait and see if the "1 time only" billionaire's tax passes to fix homelessness and give free medical care to everyone to see how the winds are blowing for massive new business investments.
In 1994 we unloaded dual sports and did a tour of Colorado on as many cattle trails as we could. Looking back, we should have stayed in Ouray and rode around there for 5 days!
